There’s just something about thrillers set at a ski resort that I love. Originally set in 1998 when one man goes missing after a blizzard. 20 years later 4 people connected to the missing man meet up again. This was brilliant.

Although I enjoyed the story enough to finish the book I never really engaged with the characters. Nobody came across as likeable. There was nobody who I wanted to feel sympathy for and hoped would come out of the story unscathed. I thought the storyline was obvious and the who did it and why was it done was obvious.

Thank you to the publisher for my eARC copy of this book. Unfortunately I didn’t love this book and therefore didn’t finish, I just didn’t connect with this one. Not for me, sorry.

Four friends, one luxury getaway. The perfect murder.

I loved the flip between 1998 & 2020 as well as the narrative from the different characters.

I last sentence got me though! Full on cliffhanger. Will there be a second book? I’d like to think so!

It was a short read, but that suited me well because I couldn’t put it down. It was a real page turner, I needed to know who knew who and why. It’s face paced, with a very well written and clever reveal. I also enjoyed that the book was set at a ski resort, as I haven’t read anything with that setting before so that made a change.

This is my first read by this author so I will definitely keep my eye out for more of her books.

The Chalet brings together a brilliant cast of characters interacting within a beautifully depicted backdrop across two distinct periods 20 years apart. We have the self-entitled, the downtrodden, the unfortunate, the vengeful, the red herrings, and of course a few extras. The characters are really portrayed brilliantly (when you can feel deep emotion towards a character, whether good or bad, you know the author has done a great job), and the unravelling of the plot leaves you guessing where you’re being taken from chapter to chapter.

Having never skied, I loved the insight into the ski resort life with its nuances and inherent dangers.
All in all this was a fun mystery, delivered with some real intelligence and thought, all coming together in an easy flowing page-turner.

Thanks NetGalley and HarperCollinsUk for a Review Copy.

A great suspense thriller which is a little different. Well written, good storyline and I liked the characters - would like to read another book by this author.

Some good twists, especially at the end. I did see some of them coming but that didn;t detract from the book. Overall, I enjoyed it.

A fast paced, page turning thriller. I read it during a heatwave and visualising the stunning scenery and cold weather helped me cool down. Unlikable but believable characters, the setting and plot made it an enjoyable read.

The characters were a pretty unlikeable group. However paired with the isolated and harsh surroundings it some how actually worked. I guess I wasn’t completely invested in them but I also enjoyed sitting back and seeing what would happen next!

Pacing for the most part was good. It’s safe to say I was pulled in quite easily at the start. I was definitely curious to see how everything would play out.

There are twists within the pages of this book and I was invested in discovering all of the secrets and seeing how the mystery would unfold.

I read this book very quickly and was kept intrigued all the way through.
I liked the mystery element of the story.
There are a good few characters in this book, but I found the book so well written it was easy to keep track of who is who. I particularly enjoyed the more horrible characters.
Overall an entertaining read.

A new author for me and this didn't disappoint. The characters are intriguing and the way the scenery is described makes it feel real. Lots of who and why, with twists and turns. Its a fast pace thriller which is a mixture of present day and 20 years ago. I couldn't put it down. Thank you net galley

The story is told in dual timelines in 1998 and 2020. I'm not a fan of multiple timelines and POV, but it works so well in this book.
In 1998, brothers came to French Alps with their girlfriends on holidays and one of them went missing while skiing in stormy weather. It seems like a tragic accident. In 2020, there are people staying in a chalet, some of them have connections to the accident with their secrets.

Despite the fact that I enjoyed this book a lot, I actually don't know what genre I should categorise this in. It is a crime book, but nothing thriller really happened, while there are long stories about couples who have only one way romance which are very intriguing😄I'm quite surprised that I didn't feel frustrated at all reading about them as they are all unlikable.

I had difficulty with the pace a bit, however the writing gripped me tightly, slowly revealing the background and the true intentions of the characters.
I marked this book as 4 stars out of 5, enjoyed it a lot!⭐⭐⭐⭐
