'She recognized his SEAL voice--cool, detached, the one that got business done.'

Sometimes you read a book and you are just completely stumped as to how to write a review worthy of said book. This was such a book. Truthfully, all Susan May Warren's books are much the same. I come away from them changed and not wanting to pick up another book until I've digested this one because it remains in my heart, vibrant and alive, long after the last page is turned.

'Forgiveness is the currency of heaven.'

Warren brings us the third book in her Global Search and Rescue series with Hamilton Jones' story, the founder of the group. It can be read as a stand alone, but to really experience it, you truly should read the series. Ham's determined to find his wife Signe after being left with a ten year old daughter he didn't know he had. Signe is CIA and determined to not be found. Thus begins a story that will move you to the core of your being. Both Ham and Signe were hurt tremendously as children and formed a deep bond as they cared for each other. Now, they must once again help each other and they try to overcome all that has passed and find their peace. Ham is a man of action, a man who pushes right ahead to rescue and save those he loves. Signe, too, has great strength of character and resiliency.

''He didn't do 'sit around and wait' easily. Not when someone he loved needed him.'

Susan May Warren writes with such such depth of heart that my own heart is left incredibly moved and deeply impacted by her words. The spiritual themes here pack a giant wallop and left me in tears many times during the reading. I truly do not have adequate words to describe how powerful this book was. My heart is just too full. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

*My thanks to Revell Publishing for a copy of this book via Net Galley. The opinion here is my own.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the journey that the plot takes you on. It was hard to put down, because it really drew me in and I felt like I just had to keep reading until the end. I will definitely read more by this author.

The Price of Valor is book two in Susan May Warren’s Global Search and Rescue, and this series does not disappoint. Susan May Warren knows how to build characters and storylines in such a way that you become invested in the characters she introduces - cheering for the heroes and hoping the bad guys get caught. In this story, Hamilton Jones is trying to protect those he loves, including his long lost wife, Signe Kincaid, who doesn’t want to be found, much less protected. Is Signe a traitor or a hero who has sacrificed everything for her country? Can Ham protect his daughter and his wife? Pre-order your copy today! I always look forward to the next book in one of her series, and The Price of Valor didn’t disappoint.

I received an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley, but the review is based on my own feelings.

So many twists and turns. The action was swift and continuous but the characters did not get lost in the melee.

" [She] Got into trouble. And I got her out of it. That's what I do. I look out for people. I help them. I don't sit on my hands and wait. I find them and bring them home." -Hamilton "Ham" Jones

Goodness gracious. This book. THIS BOOK. I was on the edge of my seat from the first line and turned page after page, heart a pounding, anxious in all the best ways and completely enthralled as the story unfolded. Susan May Warren has a way of creating characters you can't help but love. Love even when you find yourself frustrated with them. Ham is a character that was originally introduced in Susan's "Montana Marshalls" series and who's story has intrigued me through books one and two of this series titled, "Global Rescue." It doesn't get much better than Ham. What a godly, honorable, faithful and faith-filled man. Getting to know him, seeing how his painful childhood experiences shaped him into the incredible person he is, made me love him all the more. His commitment to his wife was moving. Signe. Oh, Signe. Wow. Talk about getting dealt a lousy hand. Seeing parts of Signe's childhood and the ten years prior to this story brought me to tears. She was a broken young women, but brave. I can't imagine going through what she had been through.

The secondary storyline allowed us to "see" more of characters, Orion and Jenny from book one, The Way of The Brave. I was surprised by Jenny's storyline and heartbroken for her brokenness. Her choices in the past are something that haunts her in the present. Her journey toward learning what it truly means to be forgiven in Christ was beautiful.

Readers of the "Montana Marshalls" and "Montana Rescue" series will recognize familiar and beloved faces. I absolutely love the way Susan connects all of her stories and worlds. Such fun - it was like a Susan May character family reunion. I loved the plot that originated in the "Montana Marshalls" series - we finally, FINALLY get closure on Isaac White and Reba Jackson (Glo's mom). WOOT WOOT! What a breathtaking ride, "The Price of Valor" was. Don't miss this incredible book. Hamburgler and Shorty forever. Happy sigh.

The thing I love about Susan May Warren is the way she weaves all her different stories & series together. And if you’ve read her other books, you’re going to love this one because we finally get Ham’s story! And it feels like a massive reunion of both this series & the Montana Marshalls series, with ties to the Montana Rescue & Deep Haven series as well! Oh, and that Reba Jackson storyline that was left wide open at the end of the Montana Marshalls series? That one gets resolved in this book, so if you’ve been wondering about that, you won’t want to miss this one!

If you’ve never read Susan May Warren, think of her as romantic suspense with the emphasis on the romantic part. The suspense is still good, but the focus of the story is on the characters. The story is definitely more about the people than the action - not that there’s any lack of action! Susan May Warren is definitely my go-to when I want read something that will leave me feeling good. Not that that means that her characters don’t go through their fair share of anguish - they definitely do. All of her characters are dealing with serious issues, and Ham is no exception. What a difficult situation he’s facing! A wife he thought was dead, and a daughter he didn’t know he had, and that’s just for starters...

It’s well worth the read!

Thanks so much @revellbooks and @netgalley for the ARC. I was not required to do anything except provide an honest review in return for the preview copy.

Susie is a master of creating characters and plot that will not let me go as a reader. This book is no exception. From the opening scene to the final pages, it's a race to uncover the truth about Ham's relationship with his wife and her relationship with CIA. Throw in a host of wonderful characters, many I've come to know and love through earlier books, and it was a great read! A perfect wrap up to this series. Right mix of romance, mystery, and a taste of suspense.

Book Three in the Global Search and Rescue book; here we focus on Hamilton Jones' story. Ham is a former Navy Seal who is shocked to learn he has a 10 year old daughter from his long lost (and believed to be dead) wife, Signe. When he digs a little deeper he begins to suspect Signe may still be alive - but why does she keep running? And just who is after her?

With numerous twists and turns paired with a few crazy natural disasters (the shock and awe keeps coming), there are also questions about Signe's motives. Just who can really be trusted? Also, if you've read any of the author's other books (especially the Marshall and Deep Haven series) you will be 100% clued in on all the supporting cast. Although I have literally read EVERY SINGLE OTHER one except the Marshall series (downloaded but not read yet), I did feel as if I were missing a tiny bit of insight. I do always appreciate a good "wink" from other story lines/characters, and overall it wasn't a big issue. I would however recommend reading books 1 and 2 in this series first!

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by Revell Publishers and NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

After reading the next book in this series - I was fascinated to see where Hamilton and Signe's story was going to go. This story doesn't disappoint. I think it is really successful because you truly feel so similarly to the characters in the story - especially Ham. The entire time you really wonder - how in the WORLD is he going to to forgive her and move on from this? How indeed....

Ham and Signe go way back - they were best friends through a very difficult childhood. They got married on a whim and then Ham left for a deployment and Signe disappeared for five years. They met up again five years later for a weekend - only to be followed up by Signe's apparent death at the hands of a Chechen warlord. Ten years later, Ham is called to Italy to pick up a daughter he never knew about. She was found on the beach after an explosion destroyed a yacht with Signe and the warlord Ham thought had killed her on board. Only, Signe is definitely still alive.

Needless to say, there is a lot to unpack and weed through before Ham and Signe can even begin to think about their happily ever after. The book truly is about forgiveness. Forgiving yourself and others - and using your faith in God to make that happen.

I am not a huge fan of faith based romance stories - and truly didn't know that faith-based romantic suspense was even a genre until recently. But this book is definitely one of the best I have read in the genre. It is beautifully written and deeply emotional - plus packed with some great action and danger.

Fans of the author will clearly see characters from other series by the author as well.

Overall - I highly recommend this!

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own!

What a ride this book was! If you thought the first two in the series were fast-paced, this one is even more. So many twists and turns.

This is Ham's story. He's the one who had a big surprise in book 2 when he discovered he had a 10-yo daughter. He hasn't seen his wife in a long, long time, but he wants her back. He goes after her to Italy and brings his team to try and solve a conspiracy, and that's when the problems start.

The last few chapters are edge-of-your-seat! Definitely read books 1 and 2 before this one. Such a great series!

I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

The Price of Valor is a contemporary novel written by Susan May Warren. It is book three in the Global Search and Rescue series. I would not recommend reading only this book as there are too many intertwined storylines and characters between the books.

Summary: Now that Hamilton Jones knows his wife isn't really dead, he knows he needs to find her.

When he gets the chance to meet with her on a covert op, he wants nothing more than to bring her home.

But Signe is carrying a deadly secret-one that could endanger hundreds of lives. She is desperate to get her information into the right hands, and has sacrificed everything to do so.

Can Ham help her, or is this something Signe must do on her own?

My Thoughts: Deadly natural disasters. Spies. Kidnapping. Terrorists. Assassination plots. Betrayal. A proposal. A wedding. This book really has it all.

It is completely action-packed from beginning to end. I honestly don't have any idea how one book can have so much in it, but it is a roller coaster ride from start to finish, and you won't want to get off!

It is exciting, has an intense plot, and is overall a very fun and entertaining read.

It is a little hard to keep so many characters straight, but it is still very much worth reading.

I really enjoyed this book, and am sorry to see the series end.

If you like a book with a serious adrenaline rush, and a little romance on the side, than this book is definitely for you!

I would like to thank Revell for providing me with a digital copy of this book in exchange for my review. Thank you!

The Price of Valor is the third book in the Global Search and Rescue Series by Susan May Warren. This book can be read as a standalone but I recommend you read them all. Each book is full of suspense, danger, action, faith and romance.
Hamilton Jones, a former Navy Seal, is a man who has suffered much pain and had many regrets while thinking his wife, Signe Kincaid, a CIA was dead until a ten year girl showed up and told him she was his daughter. Many twists and turns leading to more and more danger as Ham and his team go in search for Signe. Ham is a man with a strong faith in God, he is loyal and forgiving and he is someone we would all love to have in our life.
I love how Susan brings some of our favorite characters from past books into the story. This is a must read!
I thank NetGalley and Revell for allowing me to read and give my honest opinion.

Susan May Warren is at her best when writing action-packed, suspenseful novels. The Price of Valor definitely falls into this category and it's glorious. It is full of non-stop action and just when you think there is going to be a break in it something else happens to crank it up a notch. It was so great to finally read Ham's story after getting snippets of it in the prior novels of this series and it was also wonderful to catch up with our old friends from the past novels. The only bad thing about it is that it came to an end and now we have to wait for Warren's next novel!

There’s plenty of action to be had in this third book of the Global Search and Rescue series.
This story picks up from where we left Hamilton Jones, shocked to hear his allegedly dead wife’s voice answer the phone hidden in their daughter’s stuffed unicorn. Signe is supposed to be dead.
Ham, determined to find her now that he knows she is alive will stop at nothing to bring her back stateside and to clear her name of being a traitor to her country. Signe, determined to trust no one and to complete her mission that went south for the CIA, struggles to believe she’s safe anywhere in the world.
Political conspiracy, military secrets, terrorist cells, explosions, gunfire, erupting volcano and rescue missions galore fill the pages of The Price of Valor. Any fan of Susan May Warren wouldn’t expect less and she more than delivers on the action.
I didn’t enjoy this book as much as The Heart of a Hero #2. It appeared that there were a lot of similarities in the natural disaster that happened in the previous book – a tsunami of filthy water spilling into buildings and destroying the seaside strip, the team having to rescue people along the way and team members miraculously surviving their injuries. I get that the majority of the team were highly trained former military, but even tough guys need to rest their injuries.
Signe has issues with running. From all the backstory we’re given, she had issues growing up and hasn’t dealt with them as an adult. There were times I wanted to yell at her to suck it up and face it like the woman you’re supposed to be! Ham is a saint compared to her and he exemplifies long-suffering.
I haven’t read The Montana Marshalls series so when all of the siblings are introduced near the mid to end of this book, it really pulled me out of the story. I didn’t know who they were but eventually figured it out (only because I’ve seen the book covers of the series and remember their unique names from the book ads). I’m not sure how crucial it was to Ham and Signe’s storyline to have these characters appear since the roles could have been assumed by new characters instead. Although if I had’ve read the other series I may have enjoyed seeing them again in a new novel (it might be a good idea to familiarize yourself with the other series since there appears to be several spoilers for each sibling in this book).
All in all, it was a well written story with lots of action and secrets to reveal, but for me, it was repetitive of the previous novel and I just couldn’t connect with the female protagonist.
I received an ecopy from the publisher via Net Galley. All opinions expressed are my own.

I loved this book and cannot wait to read more. I'm going back to catch up on this author.

Ham and his team is special but certainly the unwavering faith of Ham. This book if full of trouble and people to bring into perspective of God.

When Ham decides to go after his wife he brings his team and what a team they are but they aren't infallible just human. Reading this will have you looking at the troubles a bit differently.

I enjoyed every second. I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ham never stopped loving his wife, Signe, even when she walked out on him twice and learned that she had kept his daughter from him for 10 years. Now he has a chance to find her and get the answers to the questions he’s been harboring. A lot is at stake for both them, but with help from friends and they just might be able to stop an attack from happening. Will Signe learn to trust the man that has loved all her life and stop running from fear? Will she learn to trust in God who has never abandoned her? Will Ham prove to his wife that he loves her no matter what she has done and no matter the cost? You’ll have to read to find out.
Price Of Valor is a page turner that will leave you speechless and wanting more until the very end.

I graciously received an advance e-copy from Netgalley for review. All opinions are my own.

I thought the blurb of this book was really interesting and story itself was great. but I did feel that this should really be labelled as a faith-based romance as well as romantic suspense. If you are not religious, I am not a believer in religion myself, you may struggle to get your way through this book, even though the story itself is first-rate.

I hadn't read any of the other books in the series or books by this author so I did kind of fall in blind and that's my own fault for not researching better. However, I don't feel that I got lost in the threads from the previous books, I soon had everyone and all the plot lines lined up in my head.

Ham may be a former SEAL but he is also a man of strong faith. When he thought his wife had died, he did his best to go on without her, serving his country. But he later finds out that she is not only alive, but also carrying out an in-depth assignment with a terrorist group. But there is an added extra he didn't know about - their daughter!

Now he's trying to make a new and safe life for his daughter, catch up on the years he missed and try not to hate Signe for what she had done.

Signe's been rumbled and she is now on the run with a NOC list. But she has also been branded a traitor by the very group within the CIA she is trying to unveil. Now the only person who can help her is the very man she ghosted! She knows he'll keep their daughter safe but will he rescue her?

This pair were childhood sweethearts, next-door neighbours and married early. That's obviously had an effect on their other relationships, not always romantic Losing that kind of love as Ham did was very damaging.

I did find the undercover mission of Signe's unbelievable - no undercover assignment I've ever studied would generally be sustained that long, especially when there was a child involved! Whilst it did have a great background story, I just felt so bogged down by the faith aspect. It did become a bit "preachy" if I'm honest and I did struggle to enjoy the book as much as I do others in the RS genre.

Another intense and full of adventures and suspense read by author Susan May Warren, “The Price of Valor” (Revell), features a very special hero, a fierce man of action and faith who will push sometimes the boundaries of credibility with his strange yet very compelling mix of goodness, power of forgiveness, strength and competence.
Ham is such a solid hero, his loyalty, compassion, empathy, devotion to the heroine and all those alpha, protective vibes tempered with such tenderness and gentleness and the constant faith giving him a sort of larger than life aura.
As usual with Susan May Warren, I loved the exploration of affections - love, friendship and comradeship - the depth she infuses into feelings of belonging and connection and the unspoken sensuality and chemistry existing within her romantic couples.
I liked that the romantic couple is a married one (although a very atypical matrimony), loved meeting again Orion and Jenny and watching their romance grow and really enjoyed the variety of the different geographical settings and adventures.
I felt sometimes that Ham’s trust in Signe was a bit blind and would benefit with a bit more development.

Great story, but a bit unbelievable. CIA agent Signe and former Navy SEAL Ham have a shared childhood history—and a daughter. But Ham didn’t know that he had a daughter until Signe, fearing discovery by the Russians, left her with Ham. Signe needs to disappear to keep US secrets safe. Well written and fast-paced, this is worth a read but highly improbable, at least in the world I live in. Recommended.

Susan May Warren is the brilliant mastermind behind the The Price of Valor and the Global Search and Rescue series! It's one of my favorite books this year! The story was everything I'd hoped for and more, an entertaining adventure thriller that kept me up late turning pages! It's full of faith, hope, sacrifice, loyalty and trust.

Warren has a unique talent for building a community of characters, layer upon layer. Readers will be thrilled to see a good number of familiar faces, Orion and Jenny, Aria and Jake, and from the Marshall series, Ford, Ruby Jane, York, and Scarlett.
But the stars of this book are Ham and Signe, and what a story they have to tell! Both have made choices in their lives that have affected not only themselves but others too. Learning to live with the consequences and make right the wrongs they can is the overlying theme. Many opportunities present themselves for forgiveness and showing the love of Jesus. all so poignantly challenging. At times I had the feeling I was reading a modern day retelling of the story of Hosea and Gomer.

Susan May Warren is my favorite author when it comes to inspirational quotes. She can preach an entire sermon in just a few lines. Some of my favorite inspirational quotes:

"I don't know why she did what she did, but I'm going to forgive her. I might be the only believer Signe knows. And if she just gets anger from me, well, I think there's more at stake than my feelings. Besides, forgiveness doesn't really belong to me. It's the currency of heaven, and my job is to dispense it here on earth."

"The answer isn't in knowing the plan, but trusting God, daily, to give you direction. To help you sacrifice your own desires, and to love."

And his mother's hymns. "No power of hell...no scheme of man...can ever pluck me from his hand."

I'm certain readers will enjoy this fabulous book as much as I did. I know this can not be the end of the Global Search and Rescue series, there are still too many unanswered storylines to explore, like what happened to the long ago abducted Hannah. The Heart of a Hero set that storyline up perfectly. I'm hoping that one comes up next!
My thanks to Revell and Susan May Warren for a wonderfully exciting book! all opinions are my very own.
