This book spends time on a friendship spanning more than 30 years. Having a friend like that, I could relate to the friendship bonds that were formed and strengthened over the years. It is a slow burner, but still a solid read.

Brilliant!

This was well written with a gripping storyline and believable characters, it had a massive twist at the end which I did not see coming - a great read would thoroughly recommend this book.

This follows a lady named Jo Wragg whom is in her late 30's, she is also a widow and she is really desperately wanting a child to call her own. She ends up being taken over by jealousy as well as this she also has dreams of living the life like her own childhood friend, Kate Bayden-Jones, whom has a handsome husband whose name is Tom, and beautiful daughter whom is named Alice. As she becomes more deeply involved within Kate’s life. Really good read. Would recommend to friends and family. I could sympathise with characters (important for any fiction novel!) and looked forward to picking it up and reading the next few chapters! Interesting plot line and a good ending. Will look out for more novels by the author. Thank you.

Absolutely brilliant! My first Caroline England book and I’m excited to read more. Total page turner that well deserves 5 stars. Didn’t see the end coming at all.

Definitely a thriller but not sure it's psychological or particularly dark. A story of manipulation and lies begin in childhood. The end was surprising but not entirely unexpected.

3.5/5🌟 #BetrayHer

The storyline itself is very promising; it focuses on the thin line between friendship and betrayal, love and hate. How far would you go to get what you want, when do you reach a line where it becomes an obsession?

It is a (very) slow burner; not much happening apart from loads of thinking. It was quite difficult to keep the interest and continue reading, but I refused to give up, hoping for a better story just on the next page... But I kept waiting, and waiting...

The last few chapters are definitely the best part of the book, it’s just unfortunate that you have to wait until the very end to actually start to enjoying the book. For me personally, the psychological thrillers need to be fast paced, with much more suspense and twists on the way.

However, I would still recommend this book for those who don’t mind slow paced reads; the writing and character development is good. I truly think that those who don’t focus on the pace of the book could enjoy reading this one.

Thank you #NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a really enjoyable read with a fabulous ending.
The story was fairly original and engaging. The characters were all well developed and the relationships complex.
My only criticism was that the book was a little slow mid way through. However, I’m glad I stuck with it as the ending definitely made up for it.

Average at best - this book was based on a great idea - it just never really came off.
I found it went off in all sorts of directions and it was hard to keep track of the story.
While I had high hopes for this book, it was quite boring in parts, it certainly didn't keep me gripped as similar books have.
Some parts were good, just not enough to carry the whole book.

Betray Her by Caroline England is the story of the friendship of 2 women, Jo and Kate. Working Class Jo and Kate, who is from higher up the social ladder, meet as 8 year-olds at Boarding School, a place that will define their lives. The story alternates between their time at the school and their later lives , and ongoing friendship, up until their late 30's. Despite the different way the Fates have dealt their cards they remain firm friends,Jo's life is a mess after her devoted husband dies ,Kate is the perfect housewife, living the perfect life ,married to her equally perfect husband , who appears to tolerate rather than like Jo......but all is not as it seems.
This is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and infidelity and with a few exceptions most of the main characters are deeply flawed and rather unlikable characters. That said it's a very complex and satisfying read with the author constantly changing the reader's perception of the characters and their motivations while skilfully misdirecting until the final twist.
Caroline England deftly brings her characters to life and Jo and Kate are equally believable as 8 year-old schoolgirls and adults approaching their 40's. It's a slow burn with tantalising hints dropped as to how the sins of the past affects the present as the tale unfolds .
An engrossing book that I read in one hit,the first book I've read by Caroline England but it certainly won't be the last.

Thanks to Caroline England, Little,Brown Book Group UK and Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.

Claustrophobic and original. A must read.
Do you have a best friend? Do you ever had a feeling of envy for him? Do you ever thought of betraying him?
Jo and Kate remained friends after school but there’s
a bit of history between Jo and Kate’s husband, Tom, that just won’t go away.
Johanna (Jo) and Katherine (Kate) as little 8 year old girls, starting boarding school. And of course they hate it, and of course they become best friends, and of course... thirty years later it is a whole different story.
The ending left me gasping.
I loved it's narration. It was smooth.
I loved Kate's character than Jo's.
This is a story about family and betrayal. It's full of twists and turns. It's a complete psychological thriller in every sense.
Thanks to NetGalley and Little Brown Book UK Piatkus for giving me an advance copy.
