Nope nope nope. Not a fan of this alphahole and I normally love them. This one was just not my cup of tea.

I love a dominant hero and initially, I was in love with the plot but the story just dragged and I didn't find myself really understanding or liking the characters much. I quickly grew tired of Cat's mixed messages, it was frustrating and annoying. This was not for me. I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’m a huge fan of Jennifer’s work. I did an arc for this book. Worse and best night’s sleep. I just couldn’t sleep because I had to know what was gonna happen. Yes most romance novels follow a similar pattern. But only the greatest authors can keep us up all night to see how it ends. This book slayed me. I was glued to every word and a total riot of feels from beginning to end. Complex, riveting characters. Words that pulled me in and grabbed me deep. Thanks Jen for another wonderful story. Keep them coming please.

Great haters to lovers read. Cat doesn't have another option but to hire Caden as a new farm manager. The really arrogant cowboys who wake in her feelings that she buried long ago. After running from attraction and saying no to each other that this is all a mistake attraction explodes. But Cade's past comes haunting him and destroyed everything. Both Cade and Cat are great characters. It is so good to see how Cade developed in a better person and want to be for Cat and just love her. I didn't like Cat's only flaw was her fear but in the end, she is strong enough to overcome it.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley

This story is fraught with tension and heat right from page 1. Both Cat and Caden have lost their way to their life goals. Cat works with her family in their farm-to-table business but what she does leaves her unfulfilled. Caden loves the art of cultivation but is worried his past mistakes and self-destructive streak will ruin his chance to work with the McKay family. While I liked both characters and could certainly understand their turmoil, I eventually got tired of Cat’s mixed messages to Caden. Cat’s saying of “No, don’t” but really it was “Just take me” got frustrating for me. Then she would get upset when Caden wouldn’t act on the attraction. Kudos to Caden for respecting Cat’s verbal wishes despite the sizzling attraction between the two of them. Thank goodness Cat’s talk with her Uncle Beau made her realize a change in her attitude was needed. Overall, an enjoyable, steamy read.

Cat can't stand Caden when they first meet but she has no choice but to hire him to be her new farm manager. He is arrogant and acts like he's interviewing her instead of the other way around. Caden knows that Cat is desperate and he needs a job so they're stuck with each other. She has six weeks to get everything ready for the opening of her brother's farm to table restaurant. Unfortunately, the chemistry between Caden and Cat is red hot and it takes all their willpower to avoid what they both know would be a mistake. I really enjoyed the dynamics between Cat and Caden and their losing battle with trying to keep their emotions in check. Red hot romance.

I received a free copy of Arrogant Bastard in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely loved this book. Caden was probably one of the best characters I've met in my reading endeavors. He was full of attitude, and he just kept dishing it out to Cat. Cat was just as fun and snarky too. The dialogue between the two made for some great reading with a ton of innuendos, and lots of give and take bantering. It made for some great reading, and lots of character development.

If you are easily offended, or you prefer characters above reproach this might not be a good reading choice.

I can't wait to read more from Jennifer Dawson.

Arrogant Bastard by Jennifer Dawson is book Two in the Bastard Series. This is the story of Caden Landry and Cat McKay. I have not read the previous book, so for me this was a standalone book.
Cat and Caden come together when Cat is in need of help with her family business Caden enters the pictures a the manger of the farm. Of course the but heads because they are both so different but in the end they may just want the same thing. Enjoyed this book.

I love this series and the McKay family!

Cat is the only girl in the sibling trio and as such I think has taken on the role of caregiver and forgot to take care of herself as well. Now she is realizing that she has been the supporter to her brother's dreams while she feels insignificant in their joint venture. It's hard to think about what she truly wants with the distillery and restaurant and the fact that her farm manager just walked out.

Caden takes the open position and knows he is good; therefore, he is very arrogant. Caden comes across as sexy, sweet and respectful- until he wasn't- which was the sexy parts! LOL!

These two are like magnets drawn to one another and neither want to be. Caden is trying to atone for his past and Cat needs to put the farm first. Their fighting of their attraction plays out fun and hilarious and then downright HOT!

These two were good for each other. Through the angst they finally find one another and their dreams!

Caden Landry, who is giving her little to no information just keeps telling her that he is the right person for the job and that do you think that her brother would really send her someone that could not do the job? Frustrated beyond belief because of the opening coming up she hires him knowing she can fire him after.
Caden wants this job so much and he also knows that he has a history of blowing up every job that he has ever had. He just hopes this one will be the one that he can hang onto. His biggest problem is not the production of the crops, no it is Cat herself. He was taken in by her from the first time he saw her and he has never had that type of attraction before. Now that he wants her how does he talk to her without making a pass at her?
Cat is under pressure as well. She has always been there for her two brothers and she feels that she is taken for granted and she is probably right. She also does not see her value and this is what Caden helps her with, just one of many things actually. The story really takes a turn when you get past the halfway mark and just when you think everything is going well, the past Caden’s past comes to the farm and starts to blow up everything between him and Cat and then her brothers. How can he fix it? If he does will, she still be there for him? Read this wonderful story to find out.

Arrogant Bastard is the second book in Jennifer Dawson’s Bastards series, and I was really looking forward to Cat’s story after meeting her character in book one. And Cat didn’t disappoint. She’s a feisty, determined and resilient young woman, with the pressures of preparing the family business foremost in her priorities. The story started a little slow, but eventually it did pick up pace. Unfortunately, that didn’t help my opinion of Caden, as I never quite took to his character, and I found the constant declarations of “I’m a bastard” or “you’re a bastard” exceedingly overdone. I’m still looking forward to the next in the series, and this is only my opinion of this book.

This is the second in Dawson's Bastards series and it picks up where the last story ended. It can be read as a stand alone though. Cat is stuck in her life and Caden arrives to challenge her and give her a push. This book was enjoyable but I felt it was missing the intensity of the first. I couldn't connect with either of the main characters and didn't feel their connection. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series though.

I was looking forward to this book as I really enjoyed the first one. I was a little disappointed, I liked Cat a lot in the previous novel, she continues to be interesting and likeable. Caden though he never quite grew on me.

Usually this author is can't miss for me but I just didn't love this book. While it was told from both perspectives, I feel like you really didn't get to know the hero at all. His inner monologue was all about how hot be found the heroine. And when all was revealed at the end about why he was running and never sharing things about himself it basically booked down to him being immature. I did enjoy the heroine more but felt she was kind of a doormat. The chemistry was well written but dragged on far too long of will they or won't they. I'm not sure I will be reading more of this series

Cat and Caden don't want to get involved with each other, but the fiery chemistry between them means that avoiding each other just isn't going to happen. Caden is the new farm manager, but he won't tell boss Cat anything about his past, it's clear that he's brilliant at his job and being desperate, she employs him anyway.
I enjoyed the chemistry between Cat and Caden and their attempts, at least to begin with, to avoid it. It was clear that they were going to be unable to resist one another, but I enjoyed the push and pull before that. Caden clearly has a past and it is this that makes him unwilling to get into something with Cat. There's a lot of game playing from both the hero and the heroine and at points that was a little bit annoying. They both have specific things that they expect from the other but aren't willing to actually explain what it is that they are waiting for.
Where I wasn't completely convinced with this one, was when Caden's past was revealed. Although it went some way to explaining why he was reluctant to get involved with Cat it didn't really seem to fit his character. Everything that we had learnt about him up to that point seems very much at odds with what supposed to have happened at his previous job. It didn't ruin the story or anything like that, but it did seem a bit strange. Other than that, this was an enjoyable romance.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Such a page turner! After having cat's dad take off on her she is always waiting for the other shoe to drop... And Caden's shaky past always self sabotaging himself met his match in Cat who won't back down from him... Only with Caden does Cat finally goes after what really makes her happy with Caden pushing her to go after it.

3 stars.... at best
The story was ok. I don't like when the male lead calls the real lead a "slut" for any reason. No matter what. Even in the heat of passion. Made me lose for both characters.

4 Stars for this down home romance!

Cat has been working in the family business for years helping make her brothers' dreams come true ... but not her own. When she hires Caden as the farm manager, he makes her want more for herself. Caden wants to put down roots ... he's tired of moving around, but will the secrets of his past come back to haunt him? Will he run at the first sign of trouble ... like usual?

Caden and Cat had chemistry right from the start, but it kinda pissed me off the way she would always tell him "no" even though she really wanted him. After all the rejection, I can't believe that he kept coming back for more ... most guys wouldn't. I liked that we saw some of Jackson and Gwen from the first book and I'm sure the third book will be about the oldest brother Wyatt and and Gwen's sister Hope. This book was a great addition to the series.

ARC received for review

Caden and Cat had chemistry and sparks, but boy did she not know what she wanted in any area. Caden was very secretive and then guess what a visitor from his past shows up. It was nice seeing Gwen and Jackson again plus their new restaurant. Next up is brother Wyatt and I'm guessing he'll be hooking up with one of Gwen's sisters with all the sparks that were flying.
