There is something so poetic and simultaneously devastating about how relevant this text is 22 years on.
The themes are just as relevant, now as in Baldwin's time and while we navigate the world without his presence, how grateful I am that he put pen to paper and imparted his wisdom as a gift before he left.

This has earned its right as a classic. I learned a lot about the feelings of black Americans in the early sixties and it's really worth a read to educate yourself on this.

A galvanising and much needed wake up call. Shocked at how little has changed since 1960 - hypocrisy and ignorance, among many things, is still so rife. An inspiring and powerful vision for the world, something everyone should read. Loved James Baldwin after reading Giovanni’s Room a few years ago and will continue to explore his work
