The description sounded interesting and the story actually was with lots of emotions to go through. How could anyone abandon a child? It all becomes clear with this mystery, adventure and enthralling plot. There's a bit of a road trip and bonding which melts the heart as you know what will happen. A side plot distracts you for a bit following the wrong lead but it's quite exciting and well written to keep you enticed.

Take Me Home

Harper, on a shopping trip for herself, sees a little girl in a store. On returning to the store much later to take back a dress, the little girl is still there. Unsure of where her mother is, Harper takes the girl. They go to the nearest precinct yet after an agonising wait gets faced with the words Family Services. She makes a rash decision and takes the girl to TJ’s house, an ex cop. They start their own investigation after finding a note in May’s pocket. Their search leads them to Palm Beach, and a wellness centre. There’s something dodgy going on. They end up in the midst of what seems like a blackmail and extortion ring, whilst trying to find May’s family. Harper is eventually led to the clinic of a renowned plastic surgeon and from then on the story spirals! In a race against time Harper tries to make it back to new York before its too late to find out the truth!

Really enjoyed reading this book. I had no idea what was going to come about in the ending- I can’t really write my theory in case it gives too much away!

All in all a great read, would definitely recommend!

It’s was a quick start for Harper to find May. Although after that parts of the book became unbelievable. As a example security in the shopping complex wasn’t interest when harper approached them. Nor really was the police. She ended up taking May with her and relying on a police friend and ex lover for find Myas parents. The FBI are following a cult that are involved. That leads to May in some
Way. Harper heads to Florida with May soon followed my TJ it’s slow but interesting, I almost gave up on the book a couple of time’s. However I just had to find out if mays mum was ever found. Harper and Mays relationship was touching and heartbreaking in but with some heart melting moments. Had it not been for that relationship and wanting to know how of if May found her mum, or not. I would have given up on the book. Also it’s not really a book suitable for speed reading, the writing is intense plus easy to miss something of importance near finding mays mum and about the cult involved. If you like this dark intense thriller although not particularly a good storyline. With lots of words not necessary. Do I recommend this book personal no. However we all like different books

This was an interesting book about a compelling character named Harper who stumbled upon a lost child, May, at a store that was closing. IT does take suspending belief to stay with how and why Harper ends up keeping May, but the adventure is entertaining. The search for May’s parents takes Harper and the retired cop that’s always looked out of her, TJ, and her ex-boyfriend Reggie on an adventure they could not have imagined. The story kept me interested and moved fast but there were several bits that seemed a little over the top. Overall it was enjoyable and I would read another book by this author.

An enjoyable mystery with a twist at the end that you don’t see coming. I struggled to tie the two main storylines together - but it as well worth reading

Such a great fast read with such interesting characters throughout; this book took me a little bit to get into, but once I did, this did not disappoint. The plot was very believable and the cover of the book, pulled me in from the moment I saw it.

I didn't expect the twists that the author put into the book, but that is really what kept me hooked throughout and kept me up reading this one.

I can't wait to read more from Alex Hart.

The main character Harper takes on the challenge of finding little May's parents and she is one of the better complicated main characters that I have read lately. This thriller is a fast read if you stick with it, with an awful lot of characters and plotlines.

Unfortunately I did not finish this book. I found it difficult to get into and was unable to stay focus on what I was reading.

The cover caught my eye and I was so happy to be approved to read Take Me Home from NetGalley. May a cute 4 year old is dropped off at a department store and waiting for her mommy. Who would leave a little girl alone?? The mystery starts from the first page, Harper stumbles upon May and sweeps her up. She does what most people would do when they see a lost child, but it seems like know is looking for her. This book takes you on a wild ride, keeping May a priority Harper’s life takes a turn and she will stop at nothing until she can reunite May with her parents. What a trip! After finding a four year old girl abandoned in a clothing store Harper swore this girl is not going to be put into the system, like she had been. She sets out to find May’s mother. Not an easy task in New York City! It’s a decision that may just cost her her life and that if her cop ex boyfriend and her best friend a retired ex cop TJ who saved her butt many times. Tough and determined Harper will stop at nothing in her search but how do you find her when she’s mommy and last name Brown? Great characters in this book I liked them all from the resourceful Harper to the two who help her.

This was a 4 star read for me as it had me enthralled and hooked from the beginning to the end! This follows Harper whom in which is a photo Journalist and desperately need work coming her way as she is running out of money.. While she is out buying a dress for a job she stumbles across a little girl in whom is supposedly lost and she ends up telling harper a story in so many words and tells Harper that her name is May. Harper decides to take her to the nearest police station in where they said social services would have to be involved so Harper decides to find May's family herself. But why was she just left and not wearing appropiate attire for the weather...

I really loved this book with it thrills and turns and what happens, a definitely recommend and a 4 star read!!

Take Me Home by Alex Hart is a book I requested from NetGalley and the review is voluntary. It took a but for me to get into it but I finally did. It is fairly fast paced, a little confusing at times, but overall an enjoyable read. It has a little but of something for everyone. Violence, mystery, helpless little girl, and a touch of romance. Not my normal more but intriguing.

The author,Alex Hart, writes with with insight making the reader feel a part of characters life. The book moves quickly, Harper find a lost girl that apparently abandoned, Harper connects to May's hoping to discover her past. their search takes many twists. Hart characters are believable and the story is descriptive with many areas that seem like loose ends until Hart weaves these into a surprising conclusion. I enjoyed the book the plot moved at a fast pace keeping the reader turning pages to find out what happen. I gave this book 5 stars because this book had such a real feel to the characters and atmosphere. This is not only a great book to read but, Take Me Home, would make a great movie.

Harper is a photo-journalist and desperately needing work, she’s short of funds and down on her uppers. Whilst reluctantly buying a dress for a much needed job she finds a little girl who is lost. She tells Harper a strange story in bits and pieces and that her name is May. Harper takes her to the nearest police station but gets little help and on hearing that Child and Family Services will be involved she decides she will help May find her mother herself. Her ex-boyfriend and cop Reggie and retired cop TJ, substitute father to Harper, reluctantly help. Who is this pretty little girl? Why has she been left in the store and dressed so inappropriately for a cool NYC autumn day?

Although this is not the wisest move on Harper’s part her intentions are really good and she a very likeable strong character, as are Reggie and TJ. May is adorable and I really like the way the characters go out of their way to help her. The mystery of May takes them on a road trip to Florida, involves a shady organisation known as The Liberty of the Mind Legacy (um, that title alone has me running a mile), the FBI and is a convoluted but gripping search. It’s well written, easy to picture, full of twists and turns especially as the plot and mystery deepens and there some humour to lighten the load. In places the storytelling is dramatic and has the feel of a good TV show that would have you on the edge of your seat. It’s gritty and gripping and builds well to a satisfying conclusion. The truth when it emerges feel plausible and fits well with the narrative. I would really like to read about these characters again in a follow up as they’re too good to be one offs!

Overall, this is an enjoyable, quick, easy thriller read and a very promising debut novel.

Thanks to Netgalley for a preview of this book. It was an exciting read that had plenty of twists and turns. It has good characters and a fast moving plot. Harts talent shines through and this is one book you won't regret purchasing.

This book was a little all over the place for me, not sure if there will be more editing done but there were a few paragraphs that didn't go with anything that was being told on the rest of the page. There were quite a few storylines to try and follow and a few were unnecessary.

Overall I enjoyed the story other than the above mentioned. There was a bit of drama, suspense, and even a little romance.

Although it took me a little while to get into this book , once I was a little way through I was truly invested. Take Me Home is a great multi- layered story of crime, mystery, lies and most importantly non-traditional family life. The bond between Harper and TJ (and then also Reggie and May included) was what gave this book a really rich, warm feel, despite the violence and deceit the book is filled with.
There are so many elements to this book that could, if it not for the fantastic writing from Alex Hart, have easily become confusing. However the intertwining storylines and large character base were easy to follow and I found all were relevant to the outcome of the plot. I thoroughly enjoyed this read

Harper is already struggling to make ends meet, and is so late on her rent that her landlord is pounding on her door with regularity demanding rent. She is thrilled at the possibility of a much needed job. But when she’s passed over for someone else, she is desperate to return a dress that she purchased for the job and no longer needs. She’s already financially struggling as it is, and is also furious at the lost opportunity. When she purchased the dress earlier in the day she noticed a little girl in the store by herself. Later that same day when she went to return the dress, the little girl was still unattended at the store. With a sales lady who couldn’t care less and a security guard who was not at all concerned, she goes to the police with the assumption that her parents must be desperately looking for her. All the little girl could tell Harper was that her name was May, her age, and that her Uncle Orange dropped her off at the store and told her that her mommy would come to pick her up. When Harper finds out that no one has reported a missing child that meets the description of May, she cannot bring herself to turn her over to child protective services. Harper had grown up in more homes than she could even count and cannot stand the thought of May having to suffer through the things she did. Harper nearly grew up on the streets and has had a tough life, making her more street smart than most. In NYC, her understanding of the world is that you have to be tough in order to survive. Against her better judgement, she decides not to notify the authorities. Since her landlord is always trying to hunt her down for rent, she knows she cannot go back to her apartment. She makes a hasty decision to break into a house where her forever friend lives. As it turns out, he is a retired cop, so him being aware of the situation puts him at a legal risk. TJ is furious about Harper dragging him into it because of the risk, but he has watched over her for years and can genuinely understand her intentions. Rather than doing what the law says by turning her over to family services, she puts herself in the position of being found guilty of abduction. Although TJ is furious with her decision, he has a long standing history with Harper since her days when she was younger and was scattered around in different homes. TJ formed a special bond with Harper over the years when she was in various homes, so he understands her better than most people.. He agrees to make a few discreet calls to see if he can get any additional information. Much to Harper’s horror and shock, he called her ex Reggie, who is also a police officer and is at risk of losing his badge if the news ever got out that he was aware of what Harper had done. When they discover a note tucked in the pocket of May’s dress, it spikes their curiosity and concern even more. When TJ and Reggie finally insist that Harper take her to the authorities, she impulsively decides to handle things her own way and sets off on a road trip that uncovers things none of them could’ve possibly imagined.
I’ll admit that this one wasn’t quite for me because at times it seemed a little choppy and fragmented. Sometimes the story changed to different characters and I didn’t have any idea who the character was, what they were talking about, where they were, what was going on, or how they fit into the story. Although it did add to the mystery of the story, it also left me feeling overly confused several times. Overall the plot was interesting and intriguing and that it made it worth reading, I loved the twists, and I had to find out what was going to happen next. I praise the author on tackling a tough topic.

I really enjoyed this book, and found it quite gripping. My only criticism is that the heroine didn't need to take such a lot of beating during the book.. The characters are interesting and well drawn and the plot moves on at a good pace - what more can I say?

A young photojournalist Harper Stein goes into a store to buy a dress. She notices a little girl in one of the fitting rooms and thinks nothing of it. In route home she is notified the job that was going to help pay for rent, was given to someone else instead. She rushes back to the store before closing, to return the dress. She notices the same little girl as earlier still in the fitting room and realizes no one besides her and the cashier are around,and the cashier has no idea who she is.
Harper now has to find the girls mom. She doesn't want the girl known as May, to end up in the system like she did. Knowing too well it's not the greatest place to be at that age. Harper enlists her go to confidant TJ, a retired New York cop and Reggie current cop and Harper's ex boyfriend for help.

This was a fast paced thriller and you kept turning the pages wanting to know what happens next. Each chapter left you with a cliffhanger. However, be advised that there are a lot of characters coming your way. You come to wonder what does one have to do with the other? And what does anorher scenario have to do with the other? Nothing, and, then everything. I didn't get why this other under cover sting was going down and what it had to do with finding May's parent's. Again it wasnt adding up but only a minor part of the character had everything to do with May. Over all still a good thriller.
