Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.

I requested this during a phase of loving crime books. I’ve sadly gone off them for the time being so this book just isn’t jumping out to me.

I’m not saying I’ll never read it and I’m sure if you love crime, you’ll love it, but for me right now, this isn’t the book for me.

Another killer read by a very talented author! Book starts off with a wedding where someone is found injured. Nobody can be trusted, nobody is guilty. Or are they? This makes for a very enjoyable read, and I will definitely read more by this author!

A mystery set in a small English town. There are plenty of twists and turns though rather too many supporting characters. An enjoyable read.

I started and stopped this a few times and nearly gave up in the early pages. However, I'm glad to didn't give in entirely as it was a good storyline with a few good twists and was different.

I nearly gave up on this book in the early stages as it just hadn’t caught my attention, but I’m really glad I didn’t. It was a good read, and there were some good unexpected twists in the story. I did sort of guess the ending, but was still pleasantly surprise by some elements.
It’s a different format and topic, so nice to read something that doesn’t follow the usual plot lines.

This book was easy to read and kept me interested throughout. There were a few surprises along the way although my initial theory turned out to be true in part. I found the ending a little predictable and wanted another twist. Other than that an entertaining read.

Yes an interesting book……thought it was a bit deeper than it turned out to be but nevertheless enjoyed reading it.

This one has been on my TBR pile for quite some time but I shamefully judged the book by its cover and put it off until I asked Bee to pick my next read and she selected this one- (reassuring that she has listened to us when we spout the forementioned advice!)
This was your typical whodunit full of twists and turns. Tristan, local celebrity, is discovered unconscious at a wedding in a local village. The subsequent investigation uncovers some unsavoury truths and characters as the police force try to work out who would possibly attack Tris. A great read that kept me engaged and guessing. Thanks to netgalley for the advance copy.

An interesting read that I'm glad to have discovered. I'll definitely be seeking out more by this author.

I did enjoy this book, it was an easy read. Unlike some of the reviews I’ve read I liked the characters and got a feel for them early on. Although I guessed the murdered quite early on, it didn’t totally spoil it. Ending got a bit soppy for me though.
All in all a good read, a good one for the beach 🏖

Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A well-written stand-alone mystery.. A little slow-paced to begin, but once the story got going it was captivating. a recommended read.

I ended up DNFing this book around the 30% mark unfortunately.
I felt as though we were rushed into meeting so many characters, that I didn't know any of them well enough to care about them, or where their story was going.
Don't get me wrong, the writing in this book is good, and very easy to follow, but unfortunately this book wasn't a hit for me.

Innocent begins at a wedding celebration, focusing to start with on Tristan Hart, something of a minor celebrity. Tristan is a journalist, the type who runs exposes for public consumption. When he is attacked and put in hospital in critical condition, who could have committed the crime is anybody's guess.

Innocent follows his wife, Izzy, in the aftermath, as she tries to juggle looking after their child and getting to the bottom of who hurt Tristan. But as she digs deeper, his sparkling facade is slowly stripped away, exposing some past truths that Izzy may not wish to confront.

Erin Kinsley captured the violent crime in a quaint little town vibe perfectly. Innocent is equal parts thrilling and emotional. There are twists and turns throughout, the novel was thoroughly engrossing, and superbly well written.

This was a well written and reasonably entertaining book but did not contain strong enough characters to sustain my interest.

I was very impressed with the conclusion of Innocent. It makes a change from having the same boring format, the same boring villain and the same boring virtue-signalling politics rammed down my throat with each psychological thriller I read. Although it was obvious to me whodunnit and why from the first few chapters, the other aspects of the mystery were engaging and I became invested in the characters once I'd got to grips with who they all were. I highly recommend this book and will be on the lookout for more work by this author.
