I enjoyed this fast paced mystery! The game of cat and mouse between the fugitive and the Marshalls is nail biting. I highly recommend picking this one up!

The description for this book describes it as "a high-octane game of cat-and-mouse." Just FYI, high-octane is understating it!

US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn are tasked with transporting two prisoners from the Pacific Northwest to Colorado when their plane experiences engine trouble. They crash land somewhere in Idaho (and that's within the first few pages!!!) When they come to, they find both pilots and one of the prisoners are dead. The second prisoner is gone - still in his chains - but gone from the aircraft, and the chase is on.

This is a book that, unless you're able to put such things to the side, probably needs to be read in one sitting. It is fast-paced, with danger lurking around every page turn. This is book 1 in Harris' US Marshals series. Start here, then go to The Chase, and finish with The Catch. This one ends in a bit of a cliff-hanger, so you'll need to read the next and the next to find out who ultimately wanted Madison dead.

Readers who enjoy suspense with a light dose of romance creeping in around the edges will love this series.

US Marshal Madison James is on the verge of making changes in her life. She plans to transfer to a job closer to her father and further away from the scene of her husband’s unsolved murder from 5 years ago. Called in one her day off, the anniversary of her husband’s death, she finds herself partnered with US Marshal Jonas Quinn for a prisoner transport, just a quick job. But things do not go as planned when the plane crashes and they and a dangerous prisoner are the only survivors. Now the manhunt is on to catch him before he kills again. And as if Madison does not have enough to worry about with the plane crash and manhunt it appears the person who leaves a black rose on her husband’s grave annually on the anniversary of his death has upped the ante this year - the black rose is left on Madison’s bed and her sister gets a note threatening her family.
First in a trilogy this is a face-paced thriller with likeable characters and believable action. The language is clean and there is no gratuitous sex so everyone from your teen to your grandparents can easily enjoy. I look forward to reading the next two books to see what Madison does and if she and Jonas become a couple.

3.5 stars

The Escape is the first book in Lisa Harris's US Marshals series and an action-packed read. The story started off really well and I couldn't wait to read more to see what would happen next.

I thought the characters were nice and the developing romance was good. The suspense was great in the beginning and towards the end, but I do think that I got a little bored with the "chase" of the escaped convict in the middle section. Just got kind of tedious…

All in all, The Escape was a good read and I definitely plan on reading book two.

I am reviewing a copy of The Escape through Revell and Netgalley:

Madison James and Jonas Quinn are U.S Marshall’s who find themselves thrust a high-profile case when they are called on to transport two prisoners across the country on a private plane. But the plane experiences engine trouble en route from the Pacific Northwest to Colorado, the pilots crash-land the aircraft deep in the heart of the sprawling Salmon-Challis National Forest.

After Madison and Jonas regain consciousness they discover both pilots are dead along with one of the prisoners, the other prisoner is now a fugitive on the run. They soon find themselves having to navigate the rugged and remote backcountry through Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado while tracking a murderer who is desperate to disappear and will do anything to stop them from taking him in.

If you love a heart pumping but clean thriller, I highly recommend The Escape!

Five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

This story starts out with a bang and never lets up! The fast pace kept me flipping pages and trying to guess what might happen next as they chased the fugitive from one state to another. The two leads are equally strong characters and I enjoyed unraveling their personalities through the story.

I liked the unusual focus of the chase after a known dangerous felon instead of the general version of thriller (like a murder mystery). It kept me guessing through the book; I look forward to the next one in the series.

Wow, that ending....uh, okay. Book two can’t appear soon enough to answer that.

Thanks to the publisher for a free reading copy. A favorable review was not required.

This is the first time reading a book by this author, so I didn't really know what to expect. I must say I really enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and easy to read. It kept my interest throughout. I highly recommend this book and will be looking for other books by this author.

Loved it! Everything about this book held my interest from start to finish. I love how the villain stayed one step ahead of the Marshall’s, giving them the slip time and time again. I’m looking forward to the next book and finding out what’s going on with the flower! Great book and I highly recommend it for lovers of romantic suspense.

I feel like this book breaks away from Harris' usual mold, but I was so here for it. The beginning starts out with the action, and the plot progresses quickly. I very much enjoyed both of the main characters and was able to connect with them both in different ways. Madison's backstory grabbed my heart and had me rooting for her and feeling protective of her throughout the story. Jonas is such a sweet and stand-up guy, and I found myself falling in love with him. Why are these good dudes always fictional?? The story is filled with suspense to the last page, and that cliff-hanger really got me! What a massive plot twist for the last pages of the story. I can't wait until book two to continue on with these characters and this storyline. Highly recommend for fans of sweet romance and a whole lotta suspense!

FTC Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was not required to write a positive review. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.

I really enjoyed having 2 US Marshals as main characters in a book. It gave it a slightly different angle than some other law enforcement.

I have to admit some of this book seemed a little far fetched but since it is fiction I guess that's okay. I really did appreciate the survivalist mentality of both Jonas and Madison especially toward the beginning.

I really loved the chemistry between them throughout this book and was fairly disappointed with the ending. I don't deal well with any type of cliffhanger ending.

I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. This is my honest review.

The Escape is the first in a new series about US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn. They are on a prison transport when their plane goes down in the Salmon-Challis National Forest which turns in to a manhunt for the escaped prisoner. As a side story Madison has a stalker back home who is growing braver in the incidents with Madison. I thought this was a well researched book on what it would be like to be a US Marshall and the methods they would use on a manhunt. It is a fast paced story with plenty of action, Madison seems to be a strong female character but she's always being rescued by Jonas. As this is the first book in the series I will be interested to see how the second one plays out.

It’s always a pleasure to read a book by Lisa Harris. This book, the first in a new series, is an amazing, suspenseful story that makes it a very hard book to stop reading. I loved the setting of this story and how that added its own suspenseful element to the storyline. I liked the main characters and their personalities drew me further into the story. The convict is cunning, and added much to the suspense from one page to the next. I’m glad to have this one on my Christian fiction shelf, and already looking forward to the next book in the series. If you love reading Christian suspense, you won’t want to miss this one!

US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn are called on to transport two prisoners across the country on a private plane. This is what happens when the plane crashes and the prisoner escapes before you regain consciousness. First... you are thankful he didn't kill you, Second... you start the chase. Action, danger and the escaped prisoner with nothing to lose! This was one that was hard to put down.

“This had become a game of cat and mouse. Chasing the fugitive who had managed to stay a step ahead of them so far. Anticipating his next move was the only way of winning.”

The Escape is a definite page turner! You will want to clear your schedule for this one....I mean after all, the dishes and other chores can wait, right? Lisa Harris is one of those suspense writers that will draw you in hook, line & sinker.

What should have been a routine prisoner transport turns into a nightmare for US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn when their airplane crashes in the middle of a National Forest in Idaho. The surviving convict uses this as his escape route thus causing these two Marshals to go on a wild goose chase, somehow staying one step ahead of the game.

Intense is how I would describe this! Heart-pounding action, breathless anticipation for what will happen next, and edge-of-your-seat thrills would be other adjectives I would use to tell someone about this book. So many unexpected things happen and the story just kept getting better and better. I also loved that the romance never took precedence, but you know it's there under the surface somewhere promising the reader a future for Madison & Jonas. This was ALL about the suspense for me, watching these two work together to capture their escapee was pure magic. And then Harris teases you with the next book at the end, making you WANT to read it even before it's written!

A true treat for inspirational romantic suspense fans!

Non-stop action as two US Marshals seek to recapture an escaped prisoner. After five years, US Marshal Madison James is still searching for the person who murdered her husband, while each year a black rose is left on his grave stone. Someone is taunting her, but who and why? Madison has been assigned a case with US Marshal Jonas Quinn who she remembers from her training. While transporting two criminals to Colorado the plane crashes, killing the pilots and the other prisoner. The remaining prisoner is on the run as the marshal’s use all resources to track him down. They will have to scramble, at times, to keep up with him as he seems to have someone helping him along the way. Will they be able to stop him before he kills again? Well written and hard to put down. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

This was a really good read! This is the story of US Marshalls Madison & Jonas who were partnered to transport prisoners to another state but ended up in a plane crash en route. Jonas and Madison survives along with one of the prisoner. This book details the journey of Jonas and Madison trying to capture that prisoner. It was quite the thrilling ride. The faith aspect of the book was very subtle but it was a clean read nonetheless. Their was more of a buildup to the romance instead of the romance itself. The story sorta ended with a cliffhanger. There was another mystery that wasn’t resolved. I was surprised to learn at the end that the story continues in the next book of the series. Can’t wait to read that!

I loved this book! It was a quick read because it sucked you in from the beginning and didn't stop. You get hooked in because the plot was written so well and Madison and Jonas are great lead characters. This definitely isn't the end for Madison's story so I am looking forward to the next installment.
