I read this book last night and I thought that it was lovely.

I really liked the story and it was a great way to try and explain divorce and separation to children and I liked that the dog was used as the way to show the child’s emotions too.

It was a good story, well developed and well written and the images were great.

It is 4 stars from me for this one, highly recommended!

Review to come to blog/goodreads on July 7th.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

I couldn't resist this adorable looking book when I spotted it on Netgalley. I was curious what would happen to Neko, plus the art looked so good.

I first have to get something out of my system. Who calls their dog cat? Because that is what Neko means. And yes, that is also a reason why I requested the book. :P

Throughout the book we see how the divorce is affecting the family. We see that especially Becca has a hard time with it, though it seems she mostly cared about her dog and that her dad may forget her (he couldn't get dogs in his apartment, which I still think is a silly rule). I could understand though, since Neko is such a big part of everyone's life. But we also do see that Becca herself worries about her dad in general and that she misses him so much. I feel sorry for kids who have divorced parents and I am glad mine are still together. Though I do remember that I apparently (when I was a kid) used to ask my parents if they/when they would divorce given that so many kids in my class had parents who were divorced or getting divorced.

I do love the solution presented by the parents and I think that is just terrific. I am glad that the parents are still on good terms, sometimes that is not how it goes in divorces. So I was definitely smiling that these two talked and discussed and came up with this solution together. Kids happy. Neko the dog happy. Everyone happy.

I like that there is a bit more information on how to help children during the divorce process at the end with many tips and helpful hints.

The art was really pretty and I love the style.

All in all, definitely a book I would recommend.
