Kawaii Doodle World is a great book for anyone looking to get into Kawaii doodling. This book mostly focuses on creating scenes with the kawaii doodle characters, however the back of the book does provide a refresher course on drawing the characters if you need it. The book provides thorough instructions on how to create a scene from placement of the kawaii doodle characters to adding extras. While my drawing is not fantastic, this did provide me a way to try to improve on my doodles.

This is a really cute and helpful guide on how to create kawaii doodle scenes! Since I never went through the first book I don't know how much I'm missing, but I kinda wish the individual doodle guides were together with the scenes. Overall really good doodle book tho, and I feel like I learned a lot!

The author of this adorable book tells readers early on that the word Kawaii roughly translates as "cuteness."  Well, the doodles that you can make from this book are just that.  It is a feel good collection that I highly recommend. Learn how to make the sweet, whimsical doodles.  Enjoy a few tricks; for example, think about where to place the two dots for eyes and the smile. Whether you like to draw or not, this title will bring a smile to your face.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.

Pic Candle is a household name in my family, we’ve been following the YouTube videos of tiny cute drawings for felt ages. When I was approved for this ARC, I read it at once. Though, can you really read a book that shows you how to draw little mushrooms and stars and cactus and flowerpots?

This is an amazingly cute book. I’m a terribly artist, but there are some great ideas in this book that I feel confident that I can try out in my bullet journal. Everything is laid out well and presented in a way that is easy to follow. Highly recommend this book to artsy and non-artsy lovers of all things kawaii.

A cute bind-up of illustrations seemingly targeted for the artist's existing fans or anyone with prior illustration knowledge.

This book was basically just a breakdown of the artist's process on a very small scale. If you want to learn how to draw the EXACT images they did, then this is the guide for you. However, if you're hoping to learn composition or any other necessary technical skills to create an original piece of your own, this just isn't it. In addition to lacking educational details, it was very odd to have the "doodle refresher" at the END of the book rather than the front when readers would actually need to reference it before getting started.

Overall, Kawaii Doodle World wasn't exactly the learning opportunity I hoped for.

So cute! I love this book. It teaches you how to draw some cute stuff like cute little foods, school supplies and plants and then it shows you how to bring them all together and make a whole sheet of cute doodles. Very adorable! I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review

Kawaii Doodle World: Sketching Super-Cute Doodle Scenes with Cuddly Characters, Fun Decorations, Whimsical Patterns, and More is a new tutorial book from kawaii mistress Zainab Khan (a.k.a. Pic Candle). I've reviewed a couple of other books by the same creator on my blog, and this is another serving of the same. Due out 18th Aug 2020 from Quarto on their Race Point imprint, it's 144 pages and will be available in paperback format.

This companion book expands on the previous books by including more composition and combination page-filling tutorials (see cover). The format is the same as the previous books and is accessible and user-friendly. The tutorials have step-by-step illustrations which anyone can follow.

The book starts with a general tips & tricks introduction showing tools and supplies and how to use them followed by chapters building up characters, adding decorations and background patterns, and composition (including contour filling).

One of the most brilliant aspects of this book (and of Ms. Khan's art) is in showing the would be doodler how to combine and build on simple elements to produce a deceptively simple cohesive piece of art which looks very complex. There are whole collage drawings at the end of the book which are provided as search & find puzzles but which would also make superlative coloring pages as well as a good tutorial on planning full page illustrations.

I've been using doodling as an awareness/mindfulness exercise and it really does work. These are cute and good fun.

This would make a really fun rainy day/isolating at home activity for younger kids to, well, adult age. They're appealing and whimsical and sweet.

Five stars

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

This book is really cute. Perfect for the journaling craze going on right now. Very simple and easy to follow instructions. My nieces loved drawing with me using these designs and we made our own coloring pages with their guidelines of how to stack cute drawings together. Very fun.

This is a fun little doodle book but I'm not sure you get enough to justify the $21.99 price for the paperback. It basically walks you through how to draw about a dozen types of things (sweet treats like cupcakes, celestial objects, blob-like creatures, potted plants, dishes and so on) first on their own and then as a group of similar objects in a big crowded picture. The basic advice is to make everything rounded (I thought the crescent moon was a sausage at first) and to put faces on most things. It shows you how to vary the faces (wider set, make them at the top or the bottom of the object, add a slightly different nose and so on). Later in the book it gives you a "reminder" and shows you how to draw the same things again, but only one thing that time. The end has a few pages of seek and find pages in black and white that you can also use as coloring pages.

Like all Kawaii drawings, it will be easy for both adults and kids to replicate the drawings, which makes it fun for families to do together.

The drawings are easy to do and it's a fun book, but there are so many other books that give you even more things to draw for lower prices. It's definitely fun and useful, though, and would be a fun library book or a nice find on sale.

I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for review.

This gives a unique type of doodles, where you make a cluster of cute objects, I never typed this type before and can’t say the worked out great but it was fun.

My daughter already owns Kawaii Doodle Class (which she loves) but in all honesty I was a little sceptical that this would likely be very similar/ samey content. In this, I was completely wrong!

This is a fantastic book. Where the previous book focussed on step by step drawing of kawaii characters, this helps you bring the drawings up to the next level by planning full page layouts with ideas for additional decorations and patterns that can be used to give your drawings a more professional finish. I can see many weekends of doodling together coming up.

I recieved an Advanced Review Copy of this book for my honest review but can definitely say that I will be purchasing a hard copy of this for my daughter when it is released (and probably for several of her friends' birthdays too).

I found this book so much fun, the doodle step by step instructions were helpful and easy to understand. The doodling style is one which will help the learner to perfect their doodling in repetitive patterns. Also, the Doodle is a fellow India which is great to know.

This is such a cute book with very clear step to step guides on how to draw the characters. Unfortunately I am so bad a drawing that I didn't have as good a result as the book showed! Although I did learn a lot of tips and tricks and I am sure with a bit of practise I would improve.

I did really enjoy the chapter with the search and find different characters

Kawaii Doodle World is an amazing guide to creative doodle scenes full with kawaii doodle characters. The book focuses more on scene settings rather than just the characters and I really loved that, as scene building is where I find myself lacking a bit.
The book has easy to follow instructions and is fun, helpful, and, as expected, cute to the smallest detail. I quite enjoyed it and plan on trying to do more scene doodles rather than just single characters, armed with my newly acquired knowledge.

This is so cute and informative! I love how she teaches the basic steps of drawing kawaii characters each simple step by step. She also teaches how cluster them and to come up with ideas. There are also some fun search and find sheets in the back.

Focuses more on drawing scenes than the individual images that the previous books illustrated. I honestly felt it was a bit redundant after loving the "Doodle Class" book.
