I expected this book to be a typical book about love and relationships, blah blah blah but then I read that this was actually based on the author's study on NLP modelling. It's certainly interesting enough that someone as pessimistic as me couldn't help but agree with the points stated in the book. Every stage/foundation struck a chord and really made sense. It's like there's a method to it but at the same time you have to reflect and realize for it to work. I like that the book can be consumed by just about anyone because it is written in such an engaging, non-bookish, non-clinical manner. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for love, in love, brokenhearted or just plain curious about love and relationships.

I enjoyed this book based on Cohen sharing findings from her research. It was easy to read and interesting, with real world examples of her theories. She involved couples at different stages in their relationships and through discussion with them came to form what she calls "the four foundations of love." I think I appreciate this kind of non fiction work based on case studies, with the examples of real people so it's more relatable to the reader. Cohen explains the commonalities she found between the couples.

The author empowers readers to stop wasting time on people that aren't going to make suited partners based on what she believes must be present for a successful relationship. I think this book would be enjoyed by single readers and those in relationships. Just anyone who in interested in human psychology and particularly NLP. This is what appealed to me. For couples, she offers ideas to think about, evaluate and adjust the foundations of a relationship for improvement.

An easy and insightful read!
Thank you for the chance to read this book!

My thanks to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for an eARC copy of this book to read and review.

I was on-board with this book, until at 27% when I read that the author recommends that her female clients read books about reincarnation and reaching higher spiritual realms. That was a hard-stop, DNF for me, as I am a Christian and my belief structure does not include reincarnation and the desire to reach "higher spiritual realms", at least not in the way it is presented in this book.

Now, that is NOT to say that this is a bad book, just that it is not a proper fit for me. The author writes well but our views do not match and I respectfully will not continue reading. If customers come to my store looking for a new age spiritual relationship book, I would recommend this one to them. There is a reader for every book, I am just not the right reader for this one. It was listed as self-help/religion/spirituality, but I did not realize in what direction it went. I did make an assumption when I requested and started this book. That was my error. 2, it wasn't horrible but it is most decidedly not for me, stars.

This book not only gives you a glimpse at the framework that is considered the foundation, the building block of any relationship. It also gives you guidelines for traversing the torrents or rapids of love or lust. An intellectual look into what forms the bases of love in a long-lasting relationship, and the prolonged effect it leaves on our lives. I thought this book makes for an interesting, and inspirational read

I received an electronic copy from BooksGoSocial through NetGalley.
Cohen shares relationship information based on her research. She presents four foundations she believes must be present for loving relationships to develop and last - Rareness, Unwritten Agreement, Sacred Bond, Future Dimension.
This is a quick read that offers ideas to think about. She offers exercises to evaluate relationships and determine if there are weak areas to build up. The writing is a bit choppy at times but the case studies she shares provide real world examples of her theories.

This is a must read for anyone who wants a clear understanding of how to be in a healthy relationship. The author conducted a thorough study of what is the foundation of love. She found the 4 key foundations.
Rareness – the moment of realization
Unwritten agreement – the essence of words
Sacred Bond – the divine connection.
Future dimension – the promise.
I found this book to be very enlightening.

This one wasn't for me, or anyone who isn't cisgender and heterosexual. The unnecessarily gendered language made it hard for me, a nonbinary lesbian, to relate. There was also a spiritual element, so not for secular folks. In general, I didn't find the advice particularly helpful or illuminating...more like plain common sense.
