Adored Baldacci writing John Puller into this this series with FBI Agent Atlee Pine. At first i wasn't sure ... and the first few pages saw them meeting one another in Trenton and then chasing a suspect ... but I stuck with it (this is my favourite crime writer after all) and then the storyline really kicked off. When a young teenage boy supposedly shoots an FBI officer, well I couldn't stop reading it from that point onwards. This is a very very clever plot. There are two narratives: Pine's search for her twin sister Mercy and a crime she happens upon which sees her working with John Puller. With the craziness of 2020 what Baldacci has them uncover seems scarily prescient with nods to the #MeToo movement, moles in the government and the Epstein scandal. I LOVED this and look forward to the next offering.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.

Wow, I loved this book. It was fast paced, full of suspense and had so many twists along the way. Atlee Pine is trying to find out what happened to her sister who was taken over 30 years ago. Her leads take her to a person who is also being investigated by someone she knows and they combine forces and work together. There were so many different threads going on in the book which I really liked and it had everything - conspiracies, murders and a great, well thought out plot line. I love the authors writing style and was drawn in from beginning to end. He has created such believable, feisty, determined characters you just root for. I hope we see more of Atlee Pine and look forward to the next book. Just loved this read.

5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to NetGalley and Pan MacMillan for this advanced copy of the latest in the series featuring Atlee Pine and in this book, the character of John Puller. Two of my favourite characters, what more can you ask for in this non stop page turner of a book. The action never lets up, throughout the whole story. You are drawn into the murky world of politics and the upper echelons of society, who use their money to cover up any wrong doings and not many do this better than David Baldacci. Hopefully there will be more cross over stories between Pine and Puller. A cracking 5 star read. This has to be one of my all time favourite books by David Baldacci and I have read them all. I would highly recommend this book.

Daylight – An Atlee Pine Classic

Daylight is the latest outing for Baldacci’s FBI Special Agent Atlee Pine and her search for her missing sister, Mercy. Picking up on where A Minute to Midnight left off, this book is a seamless continuation of Pine’s long-time search for her sister.

In the search for information about her sister’s disappearance Atlee Pine has been given time off from the FBI and has a couple of weeks to resolve her case. She heads over to New Jersey and the Grandson of the person who stole away her sister. Which brings her crashing into Army CID officer John Puller’s case.

Finding that they have common cause they work together and that brings them in to the sight lines of people with money, power and drugs. Especially when witnesses disappear or are killed, and their case is closed down without any reason. By investigating the joint case Atlee is kidnapped and looks like she is being set up. But pining something on Atlee will not be easy, she is many things, stupid is not one of them.

What Atlee does learn in New Jersey and New York, means she has to head back down south and with the help of the local police and a former sheriff, discovers a leader that brings her a lot closer to her sister. She finds a couple of breadcrumbs that give her hope for her to continue her search, whilst shocking her to the core.

David Baldacci has once again written an engrossing thriller that draws you in and leaves you wanting more. Baldacci is the king of the page turner and this book is an example of that.

It's always a thrill to see a new David Baldacci book coming out and even more exciting to be approved for first look to review the book. for the publishers, so thank you to Netgalley and Pan Macmillan. I think I have read all of David's books and they just keep getting better and better.

This thriller doesn't disappoint. Its the third in the Atlee Pine series. Atlee's taking a little time out from her job as an FBI Agent to spend some time looking to find her missing sister, Mercy from over 30 years years ago. she also accidently meets John Puller (from another series by Baldacci) and they join forces and help each other out. They spend a lot of time together trying to work out next steps and following up all the needs with so much happening along the way.

It was so exciting I didn't want to put this book down - So many twists and turns and lots going on with global conspiracy, kidnapping, murders and so much more. Will they survive unscathed?

Its great to return to the same characters. You don't need to read the previous books to enjoy this one, but I defy you not to want to read them all after you've read Daylight (and indeed the rest of Baldacci's back catalogue).

Absolutely brilliant book, definitely my favourite this year and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Honestly, this book is just okay. FBI Agent Atlee Pine continues her search for the sister who was snatched in front of her thirty years prior. Her mother was an informant against the mob, and it appears she was taken in retaliation for her mother's actions. She literally bumps into her old friend - Military Investigator, John Puller - whilst chasing a suspect, and their cases begin to collide and potentially reveal a global conspiracy.

My main issue is I think that this book could easily be 100 pages shorter - at times, it's very meandering and it seems like most people who are about to start talking get murdered in a frustrating fashion. Whilst this is obviously intriguing the first time, it gets a touch tiresome by halfway through the book and feels at times like wheel-spinning.

David Baldacci is a household name for thriller aficionados and it is a delight to read and review the ARC of his new book courtesy of the publisher, Pan Macmillan, and netgalley.com.

Daylight is the third in the series by David Baldacci featuring Atlee Pine, the FBI Special Agent searching for her twin sister who was kidnapped thirty years ago in retaliation to her mother’s role as a mole inside the mafia. Her search leads her to Tony Vincenzo, the grandson of the kidnapper Ito, who himself is running from the law. John Puller – an Army CID and Pine’s old acquaintance – is pursuing Tony in connection with a drug racket involving some army personnel. Pine and Puller team up due to their overlapping objectives and what ensues is a chase that gets more complex and lethal by the minute as Puller’s case evolves into a scam of epic proportions involving several mighty powerful people. Pine also makes quite some headway into finding her sister thanks to some enlightening but disturbing revelations she uncovers. Whether she succeeds in her personal mission is the material for at least another book in the series.

Reading the third book directly without reading the previous ones, I had some trouble understanding the running theme of the series as well as the backstory of Pine. Readers who have been following this series, and Baldacci’s other ones, will find the lead characters in this novel quite familiar, which is not the case with me. However, that did not affect the pleasure of seeing Pine and Puller, and the elderly Carol Blum – Pine’s assistant – in action. Robert Puller, John’s elder brother, also makes an impactful appearance. The action is nonstop and various strands of the plot develop well and come together to make it an engaging read.

On the downside, I found the story of Pine’s parents and the disappearance of her sister, though intriguing, a bit too convoluted. There are some minor inconsistencies in the narrative and some seemingly ill-informed passages about New York’s taxi drivers. Apart from these issues, Daylight is a solid action-thriller that holds the reader in its grip, and I would rate it 4 stars out of 5.

I have been reading David Baldacci books for many years and without exception they have always been enjoyable page turners. Daylight is the 3rd book featuring FBI agent Atlee Pine and it is every bit as good as the previous novels. I raced through it in a couple of days barely gasping for breath!
Atlee Pine is searching for her twin sister Mercy who was kidnapped as a child and the quest has taken her to New Jersey and the brother of Bruno Vincenzo, a mafia mobster. Ito has disappeared and whilst looking for his grandson, Tony, Atlee bumps into John Puller, army investigator and another of Baldacci’s characters who has his own series of books! Puller is looking for Tony in regards to an army drug ring and the two agents decide to work together.
As the case continues, life becomes more dangerous for the two investigators and Atlee learns some horrific facts about her twin’s disappearance.
Blum, Atlee’s secretary, is also helping out and she proves to be more than adequate for the task.
I really loved this book and it was so compelling that I didn’t want to put it down to do any of my normal daily tasks such as eating and sleeping!
This is a great read which left me on the last page absolutely desperate to read the next book in the series which is probably at least a year away!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is the third of David Baldacci's FBI agent Atlee Pine series, a woman traumatised from childhood when her twin sister, Mercy, was abducted in Andersonville, Georgia. At long last, harrowing daylight is shed on what happened Mercy after her abduction. Pine has been granted a few further days by her FBI boss, Clint Dobbs, for her and her administrative support, Carol Blum, to continue looking into what happened to Mercy. She is further forward in what she now knows, she is certain that Ito Vincenzo, the brother of brutal mobster, Bruno, a man incarcerated and killed in prison, was responsible for her sister's abduction. Ito disappeared some time ago, so Pine tracks down his remaining family for leads, his son Teddy is in prison, so she turns up at the home of his grandson, Tommy.

Atlee finds she has inadvertently stumbled on a military operation to arrest Tommy for drug dealing, her appearance allowing Tommy an opportunity to escape. The military CID officer in charge is a man Pine is familiar with, John Puller. The Vincenzo connection leads to a guilt ridden Pine and Puller to join forces, even though Pine is only interested in specific and limited information that Tommy and Teddy may have on Ito and his current whereabouts, if he was still alive. The pair of them have no idea of the dangers they will find themselves in as they pull at the threads of the drugs inquiry. Key figures of interest keep ending up dead, and Puller faces what appear to be insurmountable obstacles in his path, obstacles that stink to high heaven of the highest levels of political interference, obstacles so powerful that they can remove a 4 star military general from his position when he starts asking questions for Puller. Pine and Puller find themselves targets of a global political conspiracy with tentacles at the heart of every institution at the heart of American justice and democracy.

Whilst the global conspiracy is an exciting, fast paced and compelling thrill ride aspect of this novel, it is perhaps Pine's personal family history and what she uncovers that really catches the reader's attention. She is relentless in turning over every stone and rock as she finds much of the certainty she had about her father and mother begins to dissipate the more she discovers. Her blood father, the wealthy Jack Lineberry, who managed her family under the witness protection process to safeguard them, is currently suffering from poor health and never managed to locate who was leaking information about their whereabouts. Pine will be put off by nothing as she traces the leak and gets a confession. This is a wonderfully enlightening addition to the Atlee Pine series that I think many crime and thriller readers will enjoy. Many thanks to the publisher for an ARC.

I have long been a fan of David Baldacci's thrillers with John Puller and Atlee Pine, so I was delighted that Daylight has both of these investigators working together.

Atlee's investgation into her sister's disappearance collides with John Puller's investigation of drugs being sold to soldiers. As they work together, their investigation of a smalltime NJ criminal triggers the interference of well connected senior officers. Pine and Puller weigh the consequences of ignoring the strong warnings and they must be willing to walk away from their professional achievements. Baldacci's heroes have a strong sense of justice which is particularly attractive during this time of upheaval.

If you are looking for a satisfying thriller with a team you can believe in, escape into Baldacci's Daylight!

I was lucky enough to receive a review copy from the publisher @panmacmillan through @netgalley and I couldn’t be more grateful and happy.
I loved it so much. There are always things in one’s past that stay hidden forever, but there are resilience and faith that someone knows what truly transpired and how and most of all, why everything had to happen like that.
It’s darker, it touches some topics that can be triggering for certain people but it’s a great thriller series that has its own voice and wants to be heard.
Twists after twists, the story progresses from a criminal investigation to a personal interest, to discover what happened with her estranged twin sister and who was the real kidnapper. Atlee discovers secrets carefully kept for so many years and finding the truth is not always easy to digest, but I love how strong and human she is portrayed.
It’s captivating and so striking that I’ve read it in one go. I highly recommend it.

Absolutely brilliant book! Could barely put it down. So many stories going on at once kept me on the edge of my seat. I really can’t wait for the next Attlee pine book. Loved the fact that it had the puller brothers in it too. David baldacci has become one of my favourite authors - how does he think of so many great stories? Long may he continue
