The Secret of the Magic Crystal is a charming story about sharing and kindness. When Alana finds a glowing crystal that gives her a special dream, she shares it with her two best friends. Once shared, the crystal has the power to make wishes come true. But when it is not shared, the crystal goes dark. Adventure ensues! I really enjoyed the art style and thought the illustrations were lovely. The story itself was a little bit disjointed and not as cohesive as it could be. Elementary students would most enjoy this story. Overall, I think many students would appreciate the beautiful illustrations and teachers will find that it has an important message to share. The Secret of the Magic Crystal releases August 13, 2020. Thank you to Mishea Obiji, Anamcara Press, and Netgalley for a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the e-ARC.

The secret of the magic crystal is the story of three friends: Alana, Mae and Samara. Alana finds a glowing crystal and later when she goes to bed she dreams that she's a fairy. First, she doesn't wanna tell her friends in order to keep that magic to herself and then she decides to share its magic with them. They all dream fantastic adventures and find secrets.

This is a perfect tale for children, with some cute illustrations, about friendship. It leaves the children nice messages about being kind with each other and that the light and magic lies within us.

The fantasy world is really dreamy, with mermaids, fairies, an octopus and a dragon. It's short so I can't tell more.
Recommended for parents to read it to their children.

My daughter and I loved the idea of this book and the message of kindness but the story was a bit haphazard in parts and felt crammed together.

It was really warm story that teaches readers what kindheartedness can do. It was a really simple and easy read yet magical. It's something I will want kids to read. I had fun reading it.
