Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book.

I give it a three for a solid premise, it's the writing that I couldn't really enjoy. A lot of telling, not a lot og showing. Character descriptions are given in a similar style so with every addition, and there are a lot, it gets repetitive. So many characters and points of view and the writing felt like it dragged on in areas it shouldn't have that made it a slow, trudging read.

1/5 stars

An interesting premise but failed to execute.

A bus full of students is pulled into a parallel world where every earth human is given a gift with a price.

The world building is extensive but confusing and many times holes in the plot were ignored while other elements were repetitive and shallow. There was definitely an issue with the sheer number of characters and POVs. Details conflicted and the episodic structure made for a difficult slog through over half the book. Descriptive passages were mostly enjoyable but overall lent to too much “tell” to the narrative.

I received a free copy from NetGalley and Oriafen Books in exchange for an honest review.

An excellent book, well written and engrossing.
Excellent storytelling and world building, a great cast of characters and a plot that kept me hooked.
Can't wait to read the next installment.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

I received this ebook in exchange for an honest and fair review. This book was very well written. When I first started it and saw the list of children I was overwhelmed thinking I would never be able to follow the characters and story line. The author did a great job developing each character throughout the whole book so that it became easy to figure out who was who.

The world building was very well written and I was transported to the different areas along with the children. This book followed each of the children’s point of view which flowed well throughout the book. The gifts and weaknesses were easily understood and well developed as well.

I look forward to reading the next book in this series as soon as it comes out!

OMG. I so so loved this book. It was awesome and so different. I was totally hooked. Thank you Netgalley and Thomas M. Carrol for letting me read this masterpiece. There were so many characters and almost all characters had their fair share to the plot. I thought Sarah would be the main character but I found out everyone was a main character, which is the best thing about this book. I thought Sarah would be my favourite but guess what? Rhea turned out to be my most favourite character. I understood her well enough. All characters are my favourite, although I was a bit annoyed with Emma and Dylan but that doesn’t mean I didn’t like them. And ohhh, the wisdom of Timmy surprised me so much. I loved his philosophical phrases. Ohh I kept thinking about what happened to the driver, Ben. Ohh and my heart broke at the decision of children at the fairies place (well, read it and you will know what I’m talking about). And ohh how Wesley and Josh worked so hard to take care of the kids. Celia’s ability worried me a lot as she was so small n young, I so wanted to protect her. Glad that she had Annie. I’m still so worried for Mya’s problem (read it, read it). The new words and places made me yearn to go there and meet all the children. Sirie was so cute. Some parts scared me though, particularly the mist and the birds. And the silver cat! OMG I loved the silver cat and my heart broke into pieces when he went through so much pain for Bobby. That touched my heart.
And the child with enchanting voice, I wonder who she is. I have a theory about Josh. The cliffhanger! Now I want to read the next book so that I can find out what happens next.
A five star from my side and I highly recommend it to all readers. Jut be patient with the book, stick to it. You will love it.
