We’re in Denton, Central Pennsylvania. When severe rainfall causes the whole town and surrounding county to be flooded, the police have to help with evacuating those people left behind because they couldn’t self-evacuate. At the same time, there’s political unrest because the mayor and her opponent divert crucial emergency flood material to their own neighbourhood. The mayor hires a press liaison officer to deal with journalists but the other police officers consider her to be a spy for the mayor.
Detectives Josie Quinn and Gretchen Palmer have only just rescued an elderly lady when her whole house washes away. Josie spots a body wrapped in tarpaulin floating out of the basement. As it’s not the way that normal people bury their loved ones, she’s certain they’ve discovered an old homicide. The body turns out to be a young woman who’s wearing a baseball jacket Josie knows all too well. Several details confirm that it is the very jacket that belonged to her then-boyfriend (later on her husband) Ray. Who is she? Who buried her in the basement and why? Why is she wearing Ray’s precious jacket? Who killed her? Josie has to revisit her school days to solve this mystery.

Of course, I knew about Lisa Regan but I don’t think that I ever read something by her. When I spotted this title on Netgalley, I jumped at the opportunity and I was not mistaken. This is police procedural at its best. Even though it is the 9th book in this series, I could understand everything that went on. There’s a lot of personal history mixed in with the investigation but where necessary, the events from previous books are repeated. Judging from those backstories, I’m under the impression that that personal involvement in the cases is a trademark of this series. I guess that this is exactly why the series has such an appeal to readers but it also looks that Josie has had an excessive amount of trauma in her life.
Early on in the book, I had an idea about who the culprit was. I thought it rather obvious who the killer was when Alice was so frightened to meet. This time I was dead certain and my theory kept up until the end of the book, where it deflated.
I thank Netgalley and Bookouture for the free ARC they provided me with; this is my honest and unbiased review of it.

Another wonderful Josie Quinn thriller, I love them. This one really had me guessing. Lisa Regan knows how to keep you turning those pages. I like the way Josie’s story keeps progressing with each book, two stories every time.

Fantastic. Fast-paced... one of my favorite mystery series. Lisa Regan's Save Her Soul takes Josie back to high school and sheds more light on her relationship with Ray. After a body is found with Ray's jacket, Josie begins to question all she believed was real and true. It's an interesting aside for this character. The mystery is solid with great dialog and so many twists and turns. I've said this before, and I"ll say it again, Lisa Regan's Josie Quinn series should be at the top of list for mystery readers! It's one of the best!

Interesting setting with the flooding in the area and it is a big part of the story line . the characters are well developed and believable,I liked Josie and most of the other characters. The story was interesting and dodged back and forth between the present time and Josie's school days .It was interesting to see the story unfold from the two perspectives .Good book, well worth a read.

I’m a big fan of Detective Josie Quinn books and loved this just as much as the previous novels.
Denton is flooding and the police force is helping with the rescue operation. When a house collapses a body is discovered in the basement. The victim is an ex high school student who attended high school with Josie and her high school sweetheart Ray.
The story takes place in both the present police investigation and flashbacks to Josie’s time in high school.
I really enjoyed that this introduced Josie and her ex husbands part but I did miss her twin Trinity who barely featured in this story. A great read.

The latest book in the Josie Quinn series based in Denton, Pennsylvania,USA.
Following severe floods a young girl’s body is found in the water.
Josie comes to realise that the body is a girl who bullied her at school and is wearing Josie school sweetheart’s jacket (ex-late husband Ray).
Josie is determined to find out what happened to the girl Beverly Urban and her mother who disappeared at the same time.
During the search to find the truth Josie uncovers further things about her own past which impacts on her now and the future.
Josie struggles with her past and becomes overwhelmed at times , struggling with what she uncovers and only her boyfriend Noah, her co-workers and ‘unique family‘ keep her from going under.
There are some hidden plot lines and surprises throughout the book and enough detail that this can be Read as a stand-alone.
I really enjoy this series and whilst not my favourite this is a 4 star thriller.

Save Her Soul sees a fabulous return for the gutsy, independent and determined Detective Josie Quinn in an action packed, fast moving novel that will keep you guessing and page turning all the way through.

Denton is suffering severe flooding and while out on a boat assisting in rescue operations Josie discovers the body of a young female and is shocked to see it is wrapped in what looks like the high school jacket of her dead husband, Ray.

Loved this novel and it's another fantastic addition to one of my favourite crime series.
The characters are always relatable and realistic and the plot and storyline keeps you totally engrossed.

If you haven't met Josie Quinn yet I would highly recommend this series to you.
Definitely a 5 star read from me.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for an ARC for my honest review.

This is another great book in the Josie Quinn series. The non-stop action and suspense kept me turning pages. All of the twists and turns in the story held my attention throughout. I am looking forward to the next installment.

This is another excellent instalment in Lisa Regan’s Detective Josie Quinn series. As the book opens, Denton is being inundated by a flood of biblical proportions. Police and SAR officers are rescuing people from flooded homes. Josie and Detective Gretchen Palmer just manage to get an old woman aboard their boat before the house collapses when a body shaped package wrapped in a blue tarp seems to pop out from under where the basement was.

The body is soon identified as Beverley Urban who was in Josie’s year at high school. Everyone thought that she and her mother had just up and left at the end of the school year. Clearly that wasn’t the case. But why is Beverley wearing Ray Quinn’s precious letter jacket (Ray is Josie’s former husband who died five years ago. But Beverley has been dead for 16 years, and where is Vera Urban, Beverley’s mother? The Denton detectives follow a twisty and tortuous trail to get closer to the truth but no one could have foreseen what actually happened. Some big scalps are on the line.

I don’t think Lisa Regan has written a single bad book. This series is reliably good, this particular book was maybe not quite as dramatic as the previous one but still gets a well deserved 4 stars.

Josie Quinn is back fighting crime in a drenched Denton, as the waters rise and the flooding continues, a body is discovered floating by a rescue boat when a house gives way. Naturally, Josie jumps into action and begins the investigation. The body has ties to Josie's past and the story is told through the current day investigation and through flashbacks to Josie's past.

All the supporting characters play their part and there continues to be character development and action. What I wanted more of were Josie and Noah. I enjoy their relationship and want to see more of them and less of Josie reminiscing about her past love in the next book.

As usual, Regan does a good job setting the scene and building tension. Just when I thought I had things figured out, Regan had a few cards up her sleeve and played them nicely. I found this to be a solid installment in the series.

As with all of Regan's books, I loved the pacing, setting, and tension in this book. I found this book to be well written and captivating.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is #9 in the installment of the Josie Quinn series and somehow author Lisa Regan finds new and interesting storylines. This time there are floodwaters threatening Denton and this makes a great backdrop for several crime scenes. There are a few dramatic water rescues and the flooding also unearths a long-buried body. Josie’s murder investigation hits close to home.

This book features quite a few flashback scenes to Josie’s high school days and her romance with then- boyfriend Ray. There’s a modern-day mystery swirling around Ray and we finally get enough clues to piece it together. I was hoping for more romance with Noah, but hopefully that comes in a future book. Josie’s grandma makes an appearance as well in this book, she’s one of my favorite characters!

There’s also a subplot concerning the expensive homes in one part of town and the residents possibly stealing town resources to protect their property. The two plots come together in a way I was not predicting! This one had some good twists and I’m eagerly awaiting the next installment in this series.

I was excited to get Save Her Soul by Lisa Regan because I enjoy her books. They are usually full of mystery and intrigue with good, solid characters. Unfortunately, for me, this book fell flat. The storyline felt like there was too much extra "story" and only had a so-so plot.

This book won't stop me from reading other Lisa Regan books because she writes well and can weave a good story and mystery.

Even though I haven't read the other books in this series, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be going back to read all the previous books!

When heavy rain pours on the small town of Denton causing the riverbanks to break , a suspicious-looking blue tarp floats quietly to the surface. Detective Josie knows there has to be a body wrapped inside the tarp from the size and shape.

Despite all warnings she dives back into the water and secures the body, only to be shocked. She flinches as she takes in the faded blue sports jacket wrapped around the body she just pulled from the water. Josie knew someone who’d once owned that jacket. He had died in her arms five years ago.

The plot was interesting and moves at a good pace. I was hooked right till the last page thanks to the suspense and twists throughout the story.

Thank You to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!

Good story about Josie, a police officer, who finds the murdered body of a high school classmate and tries to solve the crime, all while her town is being washed away from flooding.

The plot was good. Although it helps to read the series in order, it isn’t necessary. Enough of the backstory is given to understand where the people are coming from.

Recommended.

All the books I have read (or devoured is more accurate) deserved 5 stars without any doubt. Well, guess what. This one does too!

I don't know how she does it, but she does it each and every time. Reading this series is like being swept away by a fast flowing river or a landslide. You have to go with the flow, whether you want to or not. Believe me, you will want to!!

Josie is Josie. Determined as a bull terrier, but we also see a different side of her. No matter which side we see, she is and will remain a great character.

Her team close ranks once again and together they put the baddies where they belong: behind bars.

Am I looking forward to book 10? You bet.

Thank you, Lisa Regan and Bookouture

Another fantastic entry in the Josie Quinn series. I didn't love this one--the case was a little convoluted for my taste--but I still thought it was a fun and satisfying read.

Save Her Soul (Detective Josie Quinn #9) by Lisa Regan is non-stop action and suspense. This story has Josie searching through the flooded streets and neighborhoods looking for answers to the murder of a high school classmate. Not only is Josie in danger during the investigation, but her emotions are all over the place due to memories she will never be able to forget.
The city is flooding with a deluge of rain for days. Josie and Gretchen go on a rescue mission to pull a senior citizen to safety. After a successful rescue, they watch as the house is swept off the foundation and a suspicious-looking blue tarp starts floating from under the house. Josie knows there has to be a body wrapped inside the tarp from the size and shape. She dives back into the water and secures the body. Imagine her shock when at the morgue as the tarp is slowly unwound and a mummified body wearing Ray's missing baseball jacket is discovered. The victim is well known to Josie as the bully at school who intimidated her and told everyone she was dating Ray behind Josie's back. There are layers to the secrets and lies within a prominent community whose residents will do whatever it takes to keep the crimes in their past covered.
I enjoy the Josie Quinn series and this book had me worried for her emotional and mental well-being. She learns a family secret that could change her life. Josie is close to a meltdown after trying to rise above the torture and abuse of her childhood. Will this case break her?

I like this series a lot and keep waiting for the next one. Josie saves a woman caught in the floods and ends up recovering a long buried body. The story proceeds with a good number of twists. Towards the middle there are too many pages taken up by the rain and inundation. After that the story goes on to a good suspense and conclusion. 4.5 stars
