Such a sweet little book accompanied by some very beautiful illustrations. This book is short and sweet, perfect story for our Littles and teaching them about nature and fireflies.

I am sure most of us parents had our fair share of catching fireflies as children. This book definitely gave me a feeling of nostalgia.

As always, thank you to the publisher and netgalley for providing me a copy in exchange for an honest review

*received for free from netgalley for honest review* didnt care much for this book, it was simplistic but i wouldnt say that was the issue, if it were a board book i suppose it could work just wish it had a little more detail somewhere

This was an adorable little picture book about a monster who wants to keep nature in jars so he can appreciate it. It was lovely to see Monster realize that nature is beautiful and deserves to be admired. And I loved that Monster realizes that he can appreciate nature in its natural form without having to change it or bottle it.

This adorable picture book is perfect for kids who want to possess nature because it is so beautiful. As a parent to kiddos who like to collect rocks, sticks, and flowers, this book is appealing as a conversation starter for why we can't capture nature. It is simple yet perfect.

I LOVE how cute Monster is! I used to collect things in jars that I'd find outside, too, so Monster definitely reminded me of my childhood. He wants to keep things in jars so that nature will always be with him. It's a short, but super cute book.

Monster is such a sweet character and not scary at all. He has an obsession with nature and loves it so much that he tries to capture it in jars so he can always have it close to him. He makes a plan to collect a pretty flower in spring, fireflies in the summer, a colourful leaf in autumn, and a delicate snowflake in the winter. To his surprise he discovers that these beautiful live specimens disintegrate when bottled up and not left in their natural environment ... a.k.a... nature's homeland. He comes to the realization that the natural beauty he loves so dearly is best left alone and at his disposal anytime he wants to venture outside and enjoy it.

The illustrations are colourful, simple and kid-friendly. This book would be a great segue to a discussion about nature's preservation. I like the book and would definitely recommend it.

A cute little story with cute illustrations. The monster has some interesting ideas when thinking about the nature around him and we go on a journey with him ans he realizes more about life. Children might relate to what this little monster is thinking and learning in this darling little story.

I'm not sure this book really works with a monster as the main character. I think a little boy or girl trying to save nature for another day would have been a cute idea. In this store Monster collects nature to store in jars so he can enjoy it another day. After he has collected things from all four seasons he realizes when they die and melt that nature is all around him. He doesn't need to store it in a jar. The illustrations are not a bright and colorful as they could be.

This was such a cute story about preserving nature. This really explains to children about watching nature with your eyes or camera not with your hands. And that nature should be free.

I read this book 3 times with my daughter and we both enjoyed it. The book is about a little monster who loved nature so much that he tried to put items from nature into bottles, in order to keep them for himself and enjoy them inside his home. However, he soon realised that it was not possible to keep these items in bottles, as they withered and died over time. This was a good lesson for him and at the end of the book he decided to stop bottling nature items and just go outside and enjoy nature as it was, in all its glory, at different times of the year.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

My son absolutely loved this book! We read it several nights in a row, it was the only one he wanted to read. Very adorable story and definitely a book we will continue to reread.

This was a simple, cute read about appreciating nature. A monster wants to capture things they love in nature, but quickly realizes that it is better to appreciate the beauty in its element. The graphics were cute and the moral was carefully portrayed.

Catching Fireflies is an adorable little tale about appreciating nature instead of keeping it holed up in a jar.

Honestly, I thought this was just the sweetest little book. It's a great children's picture book with a lovely little tale. Telling a story about a little monster who wants to hold onto nature is quite sweet. It is rather simple, and I think 2 to 5 year olds would like it.

Three out of five stars.

I am always telling children, "Leave the flower for the bees" or "Don't hurt the bug for doing what a bug does." Children are interested and curious. They are always asking important questions about what they observe. This picturebook nurtures a child's understanding and respect for living things in their natural habitat. Simple text, sweet monster learning to be an ecologist, and delicate vingnettes pull together a message of looking closer at the world around you. When we see or experience a beautiful moment in nature, we keep it safely tucked away in our hearts and schema. It is with us always.
