The first book I’ve read By this author and to be honest I really struggled with it 😬 I found it jumped all over the place and I just couldn’t connect with the main character

One Saturday evening I sat down with my kindle and began Girl A. I was immediately engrossed in the story and couldn't wait to read more. And then.... I realised the copy I had was a sample! PANIC! I was enjoying the book so much I couldn't not have the rest of it. I always prefer purchasing paperbacks, so I jumped straight online to order the hardback! Phew. Thank god for online ordering! I haven't put the book down since.

Following the lives of 7 children who were held captive and mistreated by their parents, this story is slow burning psychological masterpiece. There is so much that is creepy, but I love all the psychology interlaced among the stories of each of the characters.

Thank you NetGalley for my sampler of this book - devoured yesterday and I’ve been thinking about the rest of the story all night!
The book tells the story of Lex and her infamous past in flashback, interspersed with her story now.
In the sample only one of her siblings was met face to face but more will be being reunited as Lex has been left with a task that will ensure they are...
To say I want to read more is an understatement!!!

This is a sampler of the first 60 pages or so and I can't wait to read more after that! Such an intense and gripping book, very disturbing and dark.

I love a book that’s based on a story that you’ve read about in the news. It gives a perspective on something that you would think is impossible but is actually real and is beyond comprehension. Girl A is a psychological story that will remain with you. It’s told in a thoughtful and sensitive manner. I’ve given it 4/5 because although compelling it’s really upsetting.

Girl A is a harrowing, tragic read, but beautifully written. A fantastic debut Abigail Dean. Five stars.

Stupidly did not see that this was a sam0.e. It’s a shame, because I was really enjoying it. Lots of tension, and not a little violence. I like 5h3 way 5he story is told, beginning with 5he present and moving b@ck with flashbacks and memory recollections. This helps to ensure that growing sense of doom in the,pit of one’s stomach as you go through the novel. Compelling stuff.

Enjoyed this sampler of Girl A and now very intrigued to read the whole book! I'm interested to see what the impact of chid abuse has had on all of the characters. They seem outwardly to have done well, but it's what goes on internally that is really the issue.

I didn’t enjoy this book at all, it was too depressing abs never felt like light was around the corner- perhaps that was the point, why should there be light? It was simply too much for me though.

Astonishing. I am enthralled by the prose and power of the narrative.

This is writing at its very best.

Can't wait to read it all.

This feedback is for the free sample via NetGalley of ‘Girl A’ by Abigail Dean. It is due to be published by HarperCollins U.K. on 21st January.

I looked up this title after seeing its striking cover in a list of recommended coming soon audiobooks. It clearly was receiving plenty of prepublication buzz,
and so I decided to read the sample before preordering the audiobook edition.

Well, ‘Girl A’ certainly grabbed me from the opening and after reading its 64 pages I ordered the audiobook and also put in a request for the full eARC for advance review.

I have rated this sample as 4 stars to be cautious. However, based on what I read it looks like it will indeed prove to be an impossible-to-put-down thriller.

This is the opening of Girl A; and one is definitely left wanting more. What happens, to whom; what do the surviving children do? I will be looking out for this in 2021, to find out how the story develops.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for an ARC.
