🌅A heroine who's seen hard times gets a lovely new lease on life (and love)!🌈

With a picture-perfect coastal setting, a tight-knit community and a stoic heroine that could make you cry, this is a beautiful story and totally worth the read!👍👍

I loved Mim, the working class Lancashire lass with a desperate need to finally find a place she can call home after an unsettled existence that lands her homeless and sleeping in her car. She's been through so many knocks and doubts that she deserves better but she keeps moving on and always in a positive fashion. Lacking family or friends, her act of kindness to two strangers on a cold December night leads to big surprises and her enthusiastic adoption as an honorary member of a family with wealth and resources. Friendship and love follow. It's such an uplifting story, but kept me occasionally on the verge of tears as Mim refuses to take advantage of her new friends and insists on her independence no matter how cold, lonely, exhausting and uncertain that may be.

This is an inspirational gem, easy to read and full of situations and moments that made me think; could I be as generous as Mim in similar circumstances? I mean, Mim even offers to sacrifice her comfortable life in Devon and a budding relationship for another's desire to keep her close. All eventually ends well but I was so invested in her story and hoping that her ultimate decision would be the one that would best serve her needs for home, family and friends.

Mim is homeless and about to hunker down in her car for the night when an elderly couple approaches her for help after their car breaks down. The ride home Mim gives them will change her life forever. The theme of good things happen to those who help others in prevalent throughout the book. This book is a somewhat typical feel good story, but I enjoyed the path it took to get there.

I loooooved this story! I was kicking myself that I had waited so long to start reading it! It is a true underdog story, and Mim is the perfect character and underdog! This is the kind of story that you hope happens in real life. Someone finds themselves in a tough situation and a random act of kindness completely changes their life!

I was so drawn in by Mim and was rooting for her the entire way. The family she helps is wonderful. I think they are a great group of different personalities and they are fun, funny, clueless at times, and try hard to understand Mims situation and her history. They do everything with good intention, not to say they should do everything they do haha.

A wonderful read that comes full circle, it is a beautiful display of family, friendships, life’s obstacles, and the joy and importance of helping others who need a hand. Highly recommend!

This was a very sweet read that is very hard to dislike. If you were a person determined to dislike a book this read would make it difficult. It would make you seem like a bitter person. It is light, sweet, and comforting. The characters are endearing and you cannot help but want our protagonist, Mim, to succeed in finding a happy life. This was the perfect read to brighten my mood.

There was a fair amount of British terms in this one that had my American brain looking up what things were. "Caravans" feature heavily in this book and I don't mean of the pioneering Westward kind. If you do not know what a caravan is it is apparently it is like a fancy camper. Did I get that right? I don't know. I love how British this read is though. It made me feel like I traveled there so this is not a criticism.

One criticism I do have is the romance in this one felt slightly underdeveloped. I wish that more time had been spent with the two protagonists together for the payoff to feel more earned. I was not sure why exactly Mim changed her mind about romance. The change felt rather abrupt. Don't get me wrong, I liked the romance. I just wish there had been more to it.

All in all though, this is a charming read. It is as charming as vacationing in a caravan by the sea. Did I get that right?

Such a beautifully written story, full of great characters and sweet, uplifting moments. I loved seeing Mim’s life transform and especially enjoyed the way her friendship with the gorgeous Corin grew into so much more.

I have a confession. I judged this book by its cover. It seemed sort of sweet and stodgy.. I have had it on my shelf since October and kept skipping over it. Then, I realized the pub date was coming up and figured I should read it. Boy, am I glad I did!

Miranda "Mim" Brown is jobless and homeless in Northern England - Lancashire. She's about to settle in for a night in her car when an older man taps on her window. He and his wife are in a fix. Their car has broken down and they must be home - 5 hours away - for a wedding tomorrow. Mim impulsively agrees to drive them - after all she has nothing else to do.

Once in Devon, Mim is brought into a world she never imagined. Bill and Bea Howard, the older couple, have 4 children, a fabulously successful business, a huge home, and most importantly - love. No one has ever loved Mim before.

Yes, there's a romance, but this is so much more. Mim, who has so often been judged, learns not to judge others. Mim's hard work and gratitude for even the basic necessities of life are a positive example for the Howard's'good-hearted but spoiled daughter Lia.

As George Benard Shaw once said something to the effect of "Britain and America are two nations divided by a common language." That being said, there are a few terms that don't directly translate from English to American, but for the most part, this book is an easy read for those not fluent in British. :)

First time reading by this author and I loved it, a story of Mim who has been living in her car after losing her job and home and a chance meeting of a very well to do couple that help Mim change every aspect of her life for the better.
Loved the storyline and characters and loved the escape to Devon so much it made me want to visit.
A very cosy read and a happy ending what more could you want.

This was a really sweet read. Seeing how the Howard’s opened their arms & their hearts to Miranda was lovely. As an American I loved the descriptive nature of the book; you could practically smell the salt water in the air. Of course, it does help that I grew up in San Diego and I know what salt water smells like (albeit the Pacific ocean and not the Atlantic). Without giving too much away about Miranda’s past, I was a little confused by her insistence that blood family is the most important thing on earth. She demonstrates several times how important a found family has been for her, and yet she turns a blind eye and is insistent on blood. This was one of my few gripes with the book. Otherwise, I really did enjoy this book and teared up several times, which is a good sign for me.

I haven’t read any Kete Field books before and I have definitely been missing out. I knew from the very first page I was going to enjoy it.
Mim is down on her luck and more or less at rock bottom and living in her car when a chance meeting changes her life.
Bea and Bill are on their way back to Devon from Lancashire when the car breaks down. Lucky for them they park next to mim in a lay by and she offers to drive them back home.
This offer of kindness from Mim is about to change her life. She arrives in Littlemead and we meet the rest of the family. She soon becomes close to lia Beas daughter and doesn’t know what to make of their eldest son Corin.
They set about transforming the run down caravan park into the charity As You Like It Holidays.
This definitely made me want to visit Devon and see the beautiful coastline in this book.
Definitely an author I’ll look for again.

Mim has been brought up in care. She is kind, caring and grateful to Gordon who gave her a chance in life by offering her a job in his hotel. Mim is hardworking and loyal but when Gordon dies suddenly she finds herself unemployed and homeless. One night when preparing to sleep in her car she has a chance meeting with Bill and Bea who need to get to Devon urgently. Out of the goodness of her heart Mim offers to drive them. This simple act of kindness changes Mim’s life. In this adorable read Mim finds friendship, love, family and a place she can call home. Full of lovable characters this is a sweet and enjoyable read that oozes with vibes of happiness. A perfect feel good read.

Oh goodness what a sweet read. This book gives what sweet romance novels give me, such happiness. We meet a woman named Mim, nickname for Miranda, who is living off of her car, she is homeless, but she is hopeful in the future, she wishes to find work and make something of herself. She has horrible beginnings, being in foster care and not having a family of her own. But when she meets Bea and Bill when their car broke down? all of that changed for her. They treated her with compassion and love from the beginning, I had this crazy feeling they were gonna be that family she really needed.

As soon as she met the Howards and they took her under their wing, its like everything changed for her, and for the better. She finds amazing new friends, a family who took her in and love her and support her, love and then also finds out that she's not really alone in the world, that she finally does have family. And with the love that she finds she gets to finally build her own with him.

All I'm going to say is that this book was such a feel good book, I believe that when great people come to your life and great things happen its a blessing, and that's exactly what happened to Mim.

The idea that good things come to good people is very prevalent in this book. Having nothing, yet compelled to help someone who seems to have it all Mim is swept into a life of possibilities. Well written, this book provides a great escape and getaway and gives you a chance to think about what defines happiness and home.

A great romantic novel with Mim a Lancashire lass meeting a posh family from Devon. Following a chance meet, Mim up sticks and moves to Devon with the Howard family and so the book follows her relationships and life there until her long lost brother turns up and she has to make new choices. Loveable characters and easy to follow storyline. Wholeheartedly recommend this book. Thanks to Kate Field, her publisher and NetGalley.

Loved, loved, loved! Every once in a while a book and/or characters come along that inspire and touch your heart. This was one of those for me.

Mim is a young woman who has had a challenging life (abusive parents, foster care, homeless). She’s recently lost her job and a dear friend and is living in her car. Happenstance brings a wonderful, caring family into her life who take her under their wing and with their “you’re one of us” she begins to see a different world and we begin to watch her bloom. She’s always been independent and a hard worker, but now she is also a part of something bigger than herself. Something to cherish. Mim is my hero.
