What a fabulous read, a totally different heroine, strong but fragile. I' have never read a book in this genre where the main character has come from a background in foster homes. It was done sensitively and i applaud the author for this. It also shows how your life can be flipped upside down so quickly. I also enjoyed reading about the kindness of strangers and how everyone can have misconceptions about others. When i got to the end of the book I have to admit that even though I knew the ending I did shed a few tears. I also applaud the writing of the small minded person in this book, as I'm sure we have all come across people like this in our lives, communities etc. I will be recommending this book to friends and colleagues. Mims life has hit rock bottom, everything she owns is in the boot of her car and to top it all she has little money so is sleeping in her car. One lonely night she drives to a lay-by she normally uses and another car is parked there. It’s unsettling especially when the couple from the car knock on her car window asking for help as they have broken down..However this is the start of Mim finding light at the end of the tunnel as the couple Bill and Bea ask her if she could drive them down to Devon as they have a wedding held at there house the very next day. Bea wants to help Mim but Mim is unused to people being nice to her and is fiercely independent. A wonderful story of never giving up on your dreams even though you never in your wildest dreams did you imagine them coming true.
I hope there is going to be another book as I think there is more to Mim to be explored

Miranda, aka Mim...is an optimist despite what life has thrown her way . Living in her car,after losing her job at a hotel(which was her home too), she makes her car becomes her life ,belongings and all.Kate Fields wrote a humbling love story about family and looking at an empty glass,in its fullest. Once I picked up this book,I couldnt put it down, wanting to read how Mim's life changed along her path when she gives an elderly couple a ride back to Venhallow Hall  when they are stranded around her. The neice's wedding must go on, and this couple are forever grateful thereafter.Mim has nowhere else to go and accepts their invitation to stay on as long as she wants, so Mim lives in the caravan on these grounds. A run down trailor, but she envisions it to be a palace and calls it her temporary home, for now.The rest is a loving aspect of appreciation for  when given  the littlest things in life, they are really the big things to a poor person.Kate Field describes how opportunities when helped,can be     moved forward to helping others.I want to thank NetGalley for giving me this HarperCollins UK book to read and review in exchange. This is the first book that I have read by this author, Kate Field. I adore her writing style and the world she created. The plot is fabulous! The characters were well developed and I immediately cared about all of them. She describes the scenery and situations so well, that I felt a part of the story, not just reading it.

The main plot of the story is about what makes up a family. They can be blood related, or they can be a chosen family, comprising of the people that you treasure and the ones that love you unconditionally. Also, the story is about having determination, drive and striving to be a better person in spite of a difficult past.

I absolutely loved this book! At a time that the world suffering through Covid, this book was an uplifting, sunny spot. It was a wonderful escape and I highly recommend it. I will definitely be reading the other books that Kate Field has written. I have a new author to add to my favorite’s list.

Bill and Bea Howard’s vehicle broke down at the most inconvenient time. It’s the day before New Year’s Eve and they have places to be and people to see. Now they are stuck in a layby when they should be heading back for a wedding tomorrow.

Mim, upset that there’s a vehicle in the layby spot where she’s been parked for the past 14 nights, has just settled down for another cold night in her car. Field explores the idea that it costs nothing to be kind. Mim already knows this, but in exemplifying it, she softens the heart of the seaside villagers and pretty soon everyone in the Devonshire estate at Venhallow Hall is considering the less fortunate. Kindness has a rippling effect. Additionally, through her characters, Field demonstrates that we are too hasty in judging others based on appearances and stereotypes. I loved reading about the lessons her friend and former boss taught Mim; never look back and remember that everyone is entitled to be judged on what they did today, not on the past. Each day we have a fresh opportunity for growth and to show kindness. Equally as thought provoking was Mim’s response when asked if she was a half-full or half empty glass kind of girl – “I’m one of those relentlessly poor people and I’m always grateful to have a glass.” Central to the theme of this charming novel is the idea of true love and found family. How lovely to read a clean romantic novel set in a charming English village.

Finally! A British romance, written by a British author, that actually has romance in it.
I can't tell you how many so-called British "romances" I've read that were anything but, so I'm glad this one lived up to expectations.

The setting of a small seaside town is so cute, and I loved all the secondary characters, especially the Howard family. They're a family of means, and like to help, but sometimes meddle a lot.

When Miranda meets Bea and Bill Howard, she's living in her car and doesn't have a job, or any other prospects. But, despite her hard life, Miranda is a kind soul and she helps them, which brings about a lot of change in her life.

Corin is the oldest son and heir and Miranda has some preconceived notions about him at first. I enjoyed seeing how they turn friends and fall in love, and the ending was super cute.

I like a book that gets going from page one and that is ‘Finding Home’

A chance meeting between Mim Brown a northern lass and The Howards a wealthy couple from Devon is where it all begins... I had mixed feelings on Bea (Mrs) Howard throughout this book, one minute I loved her the next she really grated on me.. I mean, who just assumes someone will work at a ball you are all attending and be the hired help and also nominating them to babysit without even discussing it first!!!
Mim on the other hand, what a girl! I would’ve like more exploration on her background maybe a flashback chapter but we got a fairly good understanding of her background.

This is a story of exploring what’s important in life and also how easy it is to judge and let those perceptions shape decisions you make.

Polar opposites.

I loved this book full of uplifting comfort. I loved the characters the rich Howard's were positivity kind and the poor Mim, despite everything, wasn't bitter. The story line was so refreshing. I loved it. A perfect escape. Perfect beach reading.

Finding Home certainly will tug at your heart as Min, raised in foster care, finds her forever place. British author, Kate Fields has created characters that resonate and inspire as Min’s simple act of kindness towards two strangers brings love, purpose, friendships and ultimately home and security. It is a lovely read. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.

Wow! When Mim finds an older couple who need help, it turns her life around. Bill and Bea need a ride home, so she takes them. Turns out, it is quite a rich home, and full of energy and love, and they include Mim into their lives. Especially Corin, the oldest son and heir, who breaks all her ideas of the posh and idle men. Loved this one, and had a hard time putting it down. The struggles and growth shown is at a good pace. I find it irritating when book characters change basically overnight, but this one built slow and steady. Great book, great characters, and fun story. Highly recommend this one.

Mim didn't have the best start in life. For the past ten years she has worked hard in a small hotel sometimes taking no pay for herself to keep things afloat. After all her hard work she now finds herself living in her car with all her worldly goods and no job or money.
Mim sees a couple in the car park in need of help and decides to drive them to their home in Devon not knowing that the act of kindness will change her life forever.
It is so good to read a really lovely feel good story. I could tell you lots about what happens for Mim to find a new life but it would only spoil it for you. I enjoyed seeing the world through Mim's eyes and watching her learn to let go and trust again.
I loved all the characters who played a part in Mim's new life apart from one and you'll soon know who that is when you read it. The village in Devon, the sea, the sand and the people were all described beautifully.
I was sorry when I came to the end but there are so many other stories that could come out of this book that I wouldn't be surprised if the author revisited it again. I hope she will.

I absolutely loved this book. Poor Mim was homeless, jobless, and very strong willed. She met Bill and Bea Howard by chance, and it was the best thing that could have ever happened. They embraced Mim as their own and helped her find a new life in Devon.

Beautiful Devon beaches, strong main characters and a story of how one good deed can change someone’s life.

Mim is sleeping in her car when she meets Bill and Bea. Their lives couldn’t be more different but when Bill and Bea find themselves stranded in a lay-by trying to get back to Devon for a wedding Mim doesn’t hesitate in offering to drive them home What follows changes Mim’s life and gives her a reason the look forward to the future.

I couldn’t put this book down and have no hesitation in recommending it.

I received an advance copy of Finding Home, by Kate Field. I found this book a little depressing, Min is homeless, jobless, and just a sad character. I just could not relate, or empathize with the character.

I loved a dozen second chances so was so excited to read finding home!
What can I say the most beautiful love story ever! A real life rags to riches fairytale but not in the monetary sense but one of belonging and family and of coming home!
Based in beautiful Devon,gorgeous beaches, wonderful new friends,an exciting charitable venture and the most welcoming family ever make this book a total delight from start to finish, sometimes all it takes to change your life is a little kindness and help and with determination and sheer hard work the most wonderful of benefits can be gained leading to a new more fulfilled life and a multitude of opportunities!This book will stay with me for a long time and I will highly recommend to all.
