DNFing the Audiobook @28.6%, the narrator has a lovely voice but I'm finding it a bit too soothing and can't focus. I'm switching to the eGalley

Thank you so much to the publisher and netgalley for this audiobook

Something about this title kept me at a distance. I adored the concept and was fascinated by the explanation of the multiple worlds, but the break-neck speed kept me from fully bonding with the characters or giving me a deep understanding of all that occurred.

I have always loved Adrian's books but found this one least fascinating among any of the others. Definitely not a great starter to begin reading his work.

The book was just fine and I DNF it

A fantastic new novel from the always impressive Adrian Tchaikovsky. Every book I have read from this author has been imaginative and well written; The Doors of Eden is no exception, and is definitely my favourite so far. The narration is brilliant, so well spoken and eloquent, Sophie Aldred definitely does this book justice.

The story is told via multiple perspectives, six of them, plus an interlude narrator. I did originally think this would be too many and it would make the story too choppy, but it worked so well. We have Lee and Mal, a young couple of monster hunters, whose early relationship is cut short when one of them mysteriously disappears, only to reappear in equally odd circumstances several years later. Dr Kay Amal Khan, a super-genius mathematician who finds herself under attack, and Julian and Allison, two MI5 analysts who are sent to investigate what happened to her. Finally, we have Lucas, an ex-army logistics officer, who now works private security for the man who is trying to capture Dr Kay. Their intertwined lives tell a story full of alternate timelines, other worlds and species, and of the cracks in the universes which are threatening all of life.

I devoured this book in just over a day. I would definitely recommend this book, for fans of science fiction, but also to anyone who just wants to get immersed in a great story. It was such a fun read, packed with excellent characters, originality and a lot of heart. I hope we get a sequel, but at the same time, it is an excellent standalone so I won’t be too disappointed if the author decides to leave the ending where it is.

I was given a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first audiobook that I've actually managed to listen to all the way through. The story is compelling, the characters realistic (mostly - read or listen to the book to see what I mean), and the writing is... well, it's Adrian Tchaikovsky's writing (say no more!). There are a few shock moments that really surprised me, and my head was tied in knots near the end - perfect!

My thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an advance copy to review. This review is entirely my own, unbiased, opinion.

An excellent listen, well performed and a masterful example of Tchaikovsky’s world-building skills. If you enjoyed any of his other books you’ll love this.
