The Maid’s Best Kept Secret is written by Abby Green and published by M&B Modern. Maggie Taggart is a shy chef, currently working as a housekeeper until a replacement can be found due to her mother’s death. As a consequence of her rich father’s rejection, she feels immune to the draw of rich handsome men. She then meets Nikos Marchetti. She falls for him and consequently has his baby son. When Nikos discovers he has a baby he is determined to claim them both.
The one night with consequences is a storyline that has been done, with varying degrees of success, many times. This time the story is well paced, not rushed and doesn’t drag and is well thought out. Although the characters do jet around Europe there is little background description. The focus is firmly placed on the characters and how they interact and develop. I think I would have liked a little more description about where they stayed etc as this can also pique the readers’ interest. I enjoyed this book but I don’t think I would rush to reread it.

I adore Abby Green's writing and this, her 50th book for Mills and Boon, lived up to expectation. A lovely, romantic tale with a strong and likeable heroine in Maggie. She deserved her happily ever after.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.

It’s an age old story about the results of one night’s attraction but somehow I is drawn in, through the delightful characters, and it was difficult to put the book down. A good way to pass a wet weekend!

This story moves at a nice pace and draws the reader in. It's the perfect book that doesn't make you think and tells a story that helps you escape the world for a while.

An enjoyable read with strong characters and an entertaining plot. Abby Green has a good record of writing characters with a bit of depth who you can become invested in, and Nikos and Maggie are no exception. Whilst the 'one night with consequences' plot is somewhat familiar territory, the author's characterisation and writing style adds weight to the plot, and provides the reader with plenty of reasons to care about what becomes of Maggie and Nikos. The story is well plotted and the characters work well together as they begin coming to terms with the consequences of one night together. I enjoyed reading the book, and, with enough hints about Nikos's half siblings, it is good to note that this is the first book in a series.

Maggie is a chef who is currently working as a housekeeper, a position her mother held until her death and Maggie was covering until a new person was appointed. The owner of the house was the incredibly rich Nikos but he had never visited until one fateful night
I liked Maggie as a character, she’s strong and independent. She coped with every challenge thrown her way including a very unexpected baby! Everything she does is about protecting her son, making sure that he is safe, happy and most importantly loved
Nikos on the other hand was from a broken and very dysfunctional family and wasn’t sure what to make of his son especially at first. As the story develops the reader sees below his shell and he becomes much more likeable and it’s possible to understand more about what drives and motivates him
This book is more about people and character development rather than the background of where the story is set with them jet setting round Europe for a mixed honeymoon and business tour. Seeing how they change overtime made this a book that I enjoyed. It also reminded people that no matter how successful a person is they are still human and aren’t that different to everyone else!
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a book with huge character development and a really cute baby

When Maggie loses her mother she agrees to take on her job as housekeeper for three months, but one night will change her life forever.
Nikos bought the house on a whim and has never visited, when one night he decides to drop in he is confronted by Maggie and instantly feels an attraction. He offers her a no strings attached night to remember but soon realises that he can't get Maggie out of his head.
Fast forward to twelve months later and Maggie has left his employment and has a son..Nikos' son and when a chance encounter brings them back together again Nikos sets out to win her heart!
I really enjoyed this story and would recommend it!

Who doesn't love a little romance? This story has a fairytale quality about it. Recently bereaved Maggie is working in her mother's former role as a housekeeper for an absentee owner. The remote estate is the perfect place to come to terms with her grief. Then she meets Nikos, and the romance begins.
I love the first meeting, so romantic if a little unlikely, but isn't that why we read these stories?
Sensual writing portrays their attraction beautifully, but is this just one night?

The conflict and uncertainty of the inevitable consequences of their passionate night are enjoyable reading. Nikos is vulnerable despite his money and power, and this endears him to the reader. Maggie is courageous and kind you want them to find, the love they deserve.

This is a lovely romantic story with a magical ending. Perfect for those of us who believe in the fairytales.

Received an ARC from. Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really loved this story. Maggie and Nikos are a fabulous couple and their journey to a happy ever after was totally engaging, credible and emotionally satisfying. This author has the ability to take traditional tropes and make them come to life in a really individual way.

I was a little suspicious of the role played by Chantelle, the jealous receptionist in keeping the news from Nikos, but I decided to let it go. A thoroughly enjoyable romance. Definitely recommend it!

The maids best kept secret, is a thoroughly enjoyable story of emotionally recognised attraction, that although denied by the so say, unfeeling billionaire, becomes more than he expects or believes is possible.

Added to this instantly strong attraction that blurs any other woman in his vicinity after the one night stand they had a year earlier. Little does he realise his playboy days are over, with a chance meeting and his discovery that he has a son, with the woman he can't forget and still so strongly desires.

They marry and make a new reality of the situation they find themselves in, with this strong attraction gaining momentum. Soon another pregnancy is in the mix, with love and happiness in this romance, with a happy ever after ending.

Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this title.
This was another Abby Green classic! and her 50th Mills and Boon story too.

This, the first book in the Marchetti Dynasty series gave us a brooding Hero with a feisty heroine who didn't fall into line easily. Both had childhoods that had absent parents and this gave them the realisation that their child should have parents that are together. Lots of twists and turns as usual in an Abby Green story before we get to the hea.

Looking forward to reading the rest of the series

Thank you Mills and Boon for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. I absolutely loved it! I liked the main female character Maggie and her feisty but warm personality as well as the male's strong but very human aspect that shone through. I pretty much read it in a day between my work and into the evening!! I am going to be looking out for the second book in this series by Abby Green as am keen to find out what happens to the other Marchetti siblings.

4.5 - "Don’t give yourself a hard time… I’m quite irresistible." Stars!

Virgin Housekeeper + Aloof Billionaire = Sign Me Up!

Nikos and Maggie’s story isn’t a new one, and I have to admit I struggle to take reviewers that bemoan that fact seriously. The Mills & Boon/Harlequin brand is built on giving readers the same type of read time and time again, and while I can agree that not all characters and writing styles agree with every reader, if you aren’t a fan of a certain set of tropes the first time you read them, then chances are you won’t the next time.

"I can’t read you and it makes me nervous…"

For me, Abby Green ticked all of my romance requirements, I read these books for escapism, and I like that they are far-fetched, deliciously decadent, and they give me a break from the day-to-day goings on in the world.

"Are you really going to pretend you don’t feel it too..?"

I’m glad that this is the first book in a series, I really enjoyed it, and I cannot wait for the rest of the Marchetti Dynasty books to be released.
