I would like to thank Netgalley and Headline for an advance copy of Say No More, the second novel in the Sacramento series, featuring Mercy Callahan.

Mercy escaped a cult known as Eden at thirteen and recently a serial killer and now she has returned to Sacramento from her home in New Orleans to make her peace with her brother, Gideon Reynolds. Peace eludes her, however, when her nemesis from Eden, Ephraim Burton tries to kidnap her at the airport. Fortunately Rafe Sokolov, Gideon’s best friend and Mercy’s suitor, is able to thwart the attempt but can he keep her safe in the face of escalating danger?

I thoroughly enjoyed Say No More which is a high octane romantic thriller with plenty of action and a high body count. It should be noted that this is escapist fiction so realism doesn’t have any noticeable role to play. Who cares?

It is a long time since I read the previous novel, Say You’re Sorry, and am now a bit hazy on the detail so when I first started this one I thought I’d already read it as it begins with the story of Gideon and Mercy’s early life and their experiences of Eden. Then it diverges as this is Mercy’s story whereas Say You’re Sorry is Gideon’s. I would recommend reading them in order but it’s not essential as the salient points are recapped. The plot is not particularly complicated but there is a host of characters, motives and action to keep up with so it requires concentration. In addition, the narrative has several voices to keep track of, but with the main ones being Mercy and Ephraim Burton the reader gets a broad view of events and it’s a great help in keeping up. It’s an exciting read with some genuinely tense moments, not an easy feat in such a long novel. The novel leaves some loose ends surrounding Eden and its denizens so I guess these will be the backbone of the next novel, although I think there’s little room for guessing about the protagonists.

I can’t say that I took to Mercy and she is probably one of my least favourite Rose heroines. I know, she’s had a rough life and is traumatised but she’s too much of a snowflake for me, making weird decisions and clinging too hard to those around her.

Say No More is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.

I love books by Karen Rose and was so pleased to be approved for this.

This is the 2nd book in the new Sacramento series and it is just as riveting as the first one. If anything I I enjoyed it more. The main characters here are Rafe and Mercy who were more side characters in the previous book. They are so very believable, feisty and I really liked them. Some characters return from the first book and new ones are introduced from Mercy’s New Orleans life. Initially it took me a while to get used to all the characters and how they fitted into the story. The book starts 2 months after the first one with Mercy’s return to Sacramento to face her fears and her past. Karen Rose always manages to create characters I either love or hate. She has a wonderful style of writing that draws me straight in, she captures her characters moods, feelings and vulnerabilities so well and always holds my attention from beginning to end. I was hooked from page 1 here and love that the story is told through different characters. As always there is an element of romance and I was rooting for Rafe and Mercy throughout. I found this a thrilling read which kept me on the edge of my seat. One thing I particularly like is that in a couple of her latest books characters from previous books/series have featured in a small way and it’s been great to have little glimpses of their lives. I don’t think this book could be read as a stand-alone, there are a lot of references to events from book 1 that carry on in this book, so I’d recommend you read the books in order. Can’t wait for book 3 which I hope 🤞is Tom Hunters story. Loved, loved, loved this.

Say no more is the 24th in the Karen Rose romantic suspense series, but 2nd in the new Sacremento series. I’ve read every one before this and so when I got a chance to read this early I was so happy. Karen Rose is one of my favourite authors and I buy everything she publishes. This was no exception to her fabulous record.

In the previous book, Say you’re sorry, we met Mercy Callaghan, as the sister of Gideon Reynolds. We only briefly got to hear her story and this new book was the continuation of that story.

Mercy and Gideon were members of a cult called Eden and managed to escape, 13 years apart. Once reunited mercy has to deal with her guilt at having felt anger toward Gideon for the mistaken belief that he left her and her mother in Eden as he was lazy and ran away because he didn’t want to work. He was in fact abused and nearly killed so had to escape.

This book confronts these feelings of misplaced resentment, grief at the shared loss of their mother, reluctance to visit old memories and anger at the betrayal of people they believed were good.

Karen Rose writes her books so well, it is very detailed and the book comes in at over 500 pages. My only criticism of this book is that there was a lot of information to take in and a lot of bits to remember that if you hadn’t read the previous story you may not have followed as well.

My favourite thing about Karen Rose books in that they include so many faces from previous books. The Sokolov’s are a firm favourite of mine and I love to read about their tight knit family and how much they love each other and welcome people into their home. Linking all the books together through these beloved characters makes them so special and leaves me wanting to go back and read them all again.

I 100% recommend this book to anyone looking for thrills, suspense, romance, Cults and drama. Not for the faint hearted, there is some gore and some raunchy sex scenes, but it wouldn’t be a Karen Rose romantic suspense without it!

mercy is going back but at the airport she is confronted by the man of her nightmares...her so called husband from eden..how he has tracked her down she doesnt know but she goes all zombiefied and is being led out by him.. but luckily for mercy rafe is there

this is a fast paced book with so much happening that i dont want to give to much away but its bloody, gruesome and so addictive with so much tension that at times i had to walk away to catch my breathe.....

there are bodies galore being stacked up with mercy and rafe racing against time to find out where eden is, but can they find the answers before another person is killed...only time will tell

cant wait for the next book in this exciting series...

This is the second book in the Author's Sacramento series and I would recommend reading the first book - in fact I would say it is essential to fully understand the characters and the world they inhabit .

Mercy Callahan has decided it is now time to make peace with her brother Gideon both of whom are victims
of the cult , Eden , run by the Pastor - no one leaves the cult and survives .
When Mercy is almost kidnapped at the airport by Ephraim Burton , a senior cult member , she realises she may never be safe from the cult and is given a guard , Rafe Sokolov .
Rafe thought that the spark between them gone after she left to return to New Orleans six weeks previously - he now has a second chance , one he is determined to take - keeping her safe has now become his top priority But Ephraim has no intention of giving up , his own future in the cult is at stake unless he can return with Mercy
His trail of destruction , killing those that get in his way without remorse , will not stop him - even those closest
to Mercy are now at risk - can she live with herself if they are injured or killed ?

This is a fast paced , entertaining thriller , full of twists and turns can Mercy survive ?

The Author manages to introduce characters form her previous series seamlessly , which adds to the readers enjoyment .
I look forward to the next book in the series - will the Cult finally be found ?

I was given an arc of this book by NetGalley and the Publisher in exchange for an honest review
