I thought the book was a easy read . I did think it was very predictable story line . It was nothing like I expected it turned more into love story then a ghost story for me.

‘The Haunting on Palm Court‘ is an intriguing Paranormal Romantic Suspense story that begins the ‘Isle of Palms Suspense‘ series. Most of what you’d want to know before picking up this story can be found in the Cover Description… and because it’s a mystery/suspense I’m going to be extremely vague on details that you should discover for yourself as you read this story with so many angles tucked in it.

One thing I can be very clear about – Parker is a slimy, vindictive, abusive jerk – alive or dead. His evil intentions will make your skin crawl.

‘The Haunting on Palm Court‘ is a good story, one that kept my attention focused on figuring out how they could keep everyone safe and get rid of the danger that Parker brings. The secondary characters added to the feeling of the paranormal as well as a strong support system for Blake. Any more details than that I believe the reader needs to experience firsthand. There is another story set in this series to be released in 2021. I’m not certain at this point if I’ll continue the series at that time.

I received an e-arc of The Haunting on Palm Court by author Stephanie Edwards off from the NetGalley Read Now section. It’s genre is romantic suspense. It’s about a woman named Blake who while engaged to Parker finds him cheating with her boss. Devastated, she heads to her deceased grandmothers beach cottage on the Isle of Palms. This is where her life takes a massive turn. This is a story of rekindling lost love, finding out you have spiritual abilities where you can connect with the dead and learning to lay your past to rest and move on with a happy life. Although this is considered a suspense, I had the storyline figured out early on. I think readers who like magical realism will enjoy reading this. I have given it a 3 star rating.

The premise behind this story really captivated me and the cover was so gorgeous I was hooked.
Overall I enjoyed this story.

I liked the characters and the heroine Blake was a likable and relatable one. As her story unfolds when she returns home after making an awful discovery, I thought the story was going to go in one direction.
What followed next was a lighthearted, heartfelt and intriguing second chance romance in the midst of fighting off a wayward spirit.
The characters were enjoyable and since I’m a believer I could understand Blake’s predicament.

The imagery of the Lowcountry coastline in the south was beautifully described. However, as much as I tried, I really struggled to get through this storyline, it felt too long, and there were elements that just felt flat and lacked depth regarding the hauntings.

I started out loving this book. I had to put it down and was so looking forward to picking it back up. The story line from when we met Blake are leaving to go to Palm Court Island. Parker following her and than the book just kind of went array. So much happened so fast and some was never explained. I get that the family had this ability to see ghosts for generations, but no one ever questioned this? It was just accepted? How did Parker come to his demise? It was just too much in such a short time. I could not keep up and at some point I no longer wanted to do so. I actually thought of DNFing this book, but I remembered how much I loved it at first and I did like the characters. As far as the romance between Clint and Blake, well that was just way too mushy for me, but if you are a romance lover, you should enjoy their private time together. I hate to say it but I would give this a 2.5 star. Since NG and Goodreads only do whole numbers, I will round to 3. Again that is for how much I enjoyed it in the beginning.

The Haunting on Palm Court by Stephanie Edwards combines a great deal of interesting plot points. There is some supernatural touches, some great female characters, and even a bit of romance. The story has such an intriguing premise that will draw a lot of readers in!

Blake has escaped to her family home in Isle of Palm after catching her fiancee cheating. She has history here-a boy she dated through high school who is now a man and a cop, her quirky grandmother, Julia, and Julia's BFF Nancy. There is a great small town vibe that I enjoyed.

I liked the supernatural aspect. Blake sees ghosts; she doesn't think much of it anymore because it's just part of who she is. But now, her life is in danger. The suspense is really great in this aspect. I also enjoyed her grandmother's teachings as revealed in the book. I think the story has potential; the writing style felt a bit staccato to me. The word choice was simple and more tell than show. Perhaps this is just my personal style; other readers might totally disagree. I also felt the story was underdeveloped. The potential was there, but it fell a tad short for me. It's not a bad read at all; I think it had more potential.

The Haunting on Palm Court blends a ghost story with a generational drama and a sweet second chance romance to create pleasurable read! Its fairly short, so you could finish this on a weekend binge!

The premise behind this book was really good, and very different than anything else I’ve read. Kind of a way for a reader to dip their toe into paranormal, without fully committing, which I think is fantastic for others trying to expand their horizons a little.
Overall, the story was fresh, there were a few parts where things seemed to stall. Clint as a character didn’t resonate with me, and instead felt flat. Other characters were incredibly dynamic, and the story moved along at a decent pace.
I did enjoy this book and would be interested enough t read others like it.

Blake has been in an abusive relationship with Parker for a while. He verbally, emotionally, and physically abusive to Blake and is the type of person who hurts her then tries to buy her forgiveness. When Blake catches Parker in a compromising situation with another woman, Blake doesn't think of the repercussions, she just flees Tennessee to her late grandmother's cottage in Isle of Palms, South Carolina. The author does a great job showing the reader what Parker's abuse looks, sounds, and feels like and Blake's reactions to the treatment. I felt her sadness, horror at his actions, and loneliness. Finding Parker cheating was the best thing to happen, it gave her an excuse to leave, to preserve herself, to clear her head.

Parker is able to track Blake to her late grandmother's cottage and tries the unimaginable. He accuses her of being there with someone, then tries to kill her. She's able to get help but Parker disappears. Constantly looking over her shoulder, Blake's worries are over when Parker is killed while eluding police. She mourns for the man Parker could have been and the life they could have had but the relief is also very pronounced. Knowing she can now move on with her life, Blake rekindles her youthful romance with Clint. Parker, however, has other plans.

The location and setting really drew me to the story. I vacationed in Isle of Palms a couple years ago and I love to read books set in either the state I live in or in places I've been fortunate enough to visit. I just wish there were more descriptive passages about the cottage, the town, when there were trips to other cities. The characters, while enjoyable, lacked some depth. There were some inconsistencies and missing dialogue and events between thoughts or scene shifts. The premise of this book is amazing. The Haunting on Palm Court is a wonderful mixture of romance, suspense, thriller, and paranormal genres. The combination of genres pulled me in and kept the story interesting.

This book reads almost like a cozy novel. It's very simplistic in the style and format of the book. There can be a trigger for narcissistic relationships, abuse and violence. This book has humor, turmoil, ghost, and the meaning of friendship and love. All of which make it a great premise but it falls short of an excellent read. It is an extremely quick read with short chapters. It does feel sometimes that it's all over the place and the author skips too quickly from one thing to the next with no real exploration of letting the story develop. Overall it's a good read it just feels a bit rushed to me. It comes out on September 1st of 2020.



Blake leaves her fiancé Parket after finding out he's cheating on her and goes to her grandmother Julia's cottage on the Isle of Palms. She finds herself in the beginning trying to defend her husband's actions but soon realized how bad he really is. Nancy, her grandmother's best friend, and Nancy's grandson Clint who is a police officer help Blake try to overcome all she's been through and finds herself getting closer to Clint who's she's dated in the past. Blake finds herself having weird happenings that she's begins to learn how to handle her spiritual gift. She becomes haunted by Parker after he dies in an accident. Will Blake and Clint figure out how to rid themselves of his presence?

I love to read a good ghost story and this book was very good in that manner. It reminded me of the Fear Street novels by RL Stine, but targeted for adult readers.

Blake is a very interesting character, but I loved the supporting characters even more. Nancy is adorable and just loved how she stays by Blake’s side. Also, Willow and the ‘mysterious’ kids add very well to the story. Moreover, I also loved the appearance that Grandma makes to help Blake during tough times. Clint was nice, but felt clichéd and did not stand out in anyway.

Moreover, the author makes the story very interesting with scares and thrills. Parker is truly a psychotic and unpredictable spirit, and you don’t know how he is going to react. As the story progresses, it was interesting to see the levels he goes through to torture Blake. On a side note, I also liked the small details the author put in, like making Brittany use sign language to communicate. Even these small details make such characters memorable in the story.

However, there were a few scenes that felt unnecessary. As Dr. Remington mentions how he sees Blake and Clint repeatedly in the hospital, the situations also felt repetitious. Parker constantly haunts Blake, and Clint keeps vowing revenge. At times, the plot felt like it was going in circles. Also, some of the scenes were a bit confusing. For instance, how did the ghost manage to put his blood stains to scare Blake? It would have been nice these minor things were cleared.

But apart from that, this was very entertaining. Overall, I really liked the theme of the novel and found it to be a good read.

I picked this book because it seems=ed right up my alley. I loved the premise but from page one the pacing was off. It felt rushed. Little detail, glossed over what I thought was the plot, I didn't connect with characters no matter how hard I tried. Loved the cover and idea but DNF at 35%. Maybe I will pick it up again in a few months and see if I feel any different. Thank you for the chance to review.

A paranormal mystery, old family secrets, a cool house on the beach. All things I love! This book did not disappoint And i look forward to more from Stephanie Edwards.

This was not one of my favorite reads ever. It had me constantly looking back at my notes due to both boredom and erratic pacing.

While the grammar was above reproach the story could be fleshed out a bit better. I think the author has great talent but this book was not one I'd purchase for friends or family.

5 stars for this southern charm! This book is a fun, paranormal romance. With strong characters and an intriguing storyline, it makes for quite the page-turner! I highly recommend this book!

This book had such potential, but the author never went beyond the surface with the characters or the plot. The descriptions of South Carolina were intriguing, but not enough to make up for the lack of substance.

i liked the characters, the book got you hooked from the start. i wanted the ending to be a little more powerful.

I loved this book, the story was gripping, the characters believable. I found myself wanting more with each page turned and I was not disappointed! Give this book a go!

i really thought i'd like this one. mystery, drama, supernatural elements, family secrets, it sounded like a great mix of elements. however, i was wrong.
the main thing that bothered me was the pacing. a lot of the things in the synopsis happened in the first few chapters and so rushed, in the 'this happened, then this and this' style which made it difficult to engage in the story and care about the characters, specially since we never got to know them. it also dragged in parts that weren't all that relevant or important, and it was filled with details that we didn't even need. by the end, the resolution felt very meh, since i wasn't invested at all in the story.
because the writing style was very simple, it was a fast read, i'll give it that.

This was a brilliant book to read I felt like I was in the story with the characters with them so much detail to help you understand how the characters are feeling I would recommend this book to other readers
