First in a series of 3 unless you count the prequel as 1, in which case number 2. Contains the important message ‘don’t called them werewolves’. They are shifters of course.
Our heroine is drawn into a world she hadn’t realised existed with 2 packs of shifters at odds with each other and a Goddess and looming Convergence. Amy ‘channels’ the Goddess and one pack finds itself on an alien planet – so we mix sci—fi with paranormal.
The mix didn’t really work for me. And I didn’t find the storytelling compelling – and no humour which made it rather heavy going at times, especially when the storyline moved time periods.

This was a pretty decent book from a new author to me. For the most part it was pretty good and captured my attention. However, there was a lot thrown in for the first book in a new series. I also don’t really like books that end with a lot of questions, so that left me a little frustrated. I’m definitely interested in reading the next book in this series. I recommend.

I like this but didn’t love it. There was a lot of jumping around so it felt a little choppy. In some parts there needed more explanation of what was happening. I think this book could benefit from some good editing. Not only were there typos but it also lacked fluidity I didn’t feel there was much chemistry between the two main characters. Amy is standoffish and crabby but three days after getting to know each other she and Kane are in love? There were no tender moments leading up to this love so it really wasn’t believable. The premise of this story is interesting but I think it fell short of its mark. The shifters, witches and vampires were fine, it was the other unbelievable creatures that were just not fleshed out. The ending was abrupt with not enough detail to know what was happening. Also, I’m not a fan of cliffhanger endings. With a good editor This could be much better but as it stands, I’m not really interested in reading the next book. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

The premise of this book is great, and the characters are interesting however I think that the book could benefit from either extending the book or condensing the story a bit. It was a bit rambling and disjointed in places. There were story arcs that seemed to be jammed in there just to have them in there.

I also didn't think that there was much chemistry between the two main characters - they seemed to just get together with no lead up at all other than the fact that they met.

Good story but could do with a little bit more refinement. Thanks for the read.

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a free review. This review may contain spoilers so read at your own risk.

Ryker Chronicles: Blood Moon by Jeanette Savage is the first book in the series and it blew my mind.

I devoured it in a day and I have no regrets. Kane and Amy are a wonderful contrast to each other and I loved the chemistry between them. The way the pack played off each other was wonderful and I loved how each member contributed to the whole except for Danny. (But let's not talk about him that traitorous son of a beep).

The only character I could not stand the POV was Crystal -Amy's older sister- I felt like it was unnecessary. Also, I found it disjointing that Amy's is the only one who is in first person and everyone else is in third person. Yet somehow I still read it and could not stop reading it. I got excited at the end when it said read the second book free sign up for mailing list except my Kindle could not find the link because it does not exist anymore apparently. I need to know what happens. I am on the hunt for the second book now because it sucked me in and did not let me go.

Highly recommend.

500 out of 5 stars.

I did find this an interesting read, but I found it’s pacing and organisation of the story a bit odd , it kept jumping from past to present, which many books do, but I do think it was done too well here as it just lost you at times. The characters are really good though, well written and developed. Overall I found the story interesting with great characters and an interesting plot, I will read the next to see what happens, but I thought needs a bit of work and could be a 4-5 star read

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book to review.

The story jumps straight in to the action and then backtracks sporadically to fill in the history, which can sometimes make understanding the plot a little confusing. Despite this, I was engaged in the storyline and enjoyed Jeannette's interpretation of the shifter genre.

What I missed, however, was the development of the relationships between the characters, especially the two main characters. I'm hoping this is filled out in subsequent books.

Orphaned after her mother's tragic, unsolved murder, Amy Ryker lives a life in which she answers to no one, but also has nobody to lean on. After escaping a severe accident, Amy meets a mysterious shifter who introduces her to her true nature. But all is not as it seems.

A massive thank-you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a copy of this book to review! The first in the series, following Amy Ryker, a shifter with a violent and mysterious history. I enjoyed the characters put together by the author, and the sense of intrigue they created- it played just like a movie in my mind! It is a fast-paced book filled with the paranormal, packed with suspense and a little bit of romance too. The only thing is that there was just too much going on that at times I felt lost and left behind by the book!

Sometimes it can be said that too much is going on in a story to really make it a good one and first in a series are probably good examples. Which is why prologue stories help us out, and I think the author should think about this. I had a hard time navigating this book because too much was going on, if I have to stop and take notes then the reading part loses interest. This was an interesting take on the whole werewolf genre but likely a fence book.

This was an interesting read for me. The story was good and had quite a few turning points that I thought were really cool. Kane was an awesome alpha, Amy for having the type of life she did was crazy. Then there is the pack, Ryker, the secret military group, the doctor with shifters, and we can’t forget the witch and gods.

There is a lot going on and I wish I could have had a bit more backstory but I can’t wait for the rest of the series.

I really liked this book. At times it jumped around and was hard to follow. Itfeels like the author was going one way with the story and got sidetracked with to many new ideas half way through. Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I'm interested in the sequel.

RYKER CHRONICLES: BLOOD MOON by Jeannette Savage is the first book in the Ryker Chronicles supernatural suspense / paranormal romance / urban fantasy series and the first book that I have read by this author. Amy Ryker was orphaned when her mother was killed. She has grown up not expecting much from those around her. When a shifter promises her a better life, she is suspicious, but wants the opportunity to see if there is something more to life than existence.

The characters are compelling, fascinating, and felt three-dimensional. There was enough at stake to keep me engaged throughout the story. The world-building was excellent and gave a clear sense of place. Themes include friendships, family, paranormal beings, loyalty, loss, memories and much more.

Overall, this book had engaging characters, a fascinating plot, a fast pace with some unexpected twists and originality. However, my rating was dropped from four stars to three due to the ending of the book. Hopefully, book two in the series will resolve the outstanding issues that I had with book one. I would recommend this book to those that enjoy supernatural suspense and urban fantasy novels.

Many thanks to BooksGoSocial and Jeannette Savage for a digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley and the opportunity to provide an honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.
