Initially I struggled to get in to this book which frustrated me because I had high hopes for it from the synopsis. I stopped reading after about 4/5 chapters and went back to it after I started reading, and finished another book and I’m so glad I did!
I was then hooked.
Confessions on the 7:45 is the story of Selena who is involved in a conversation with a woman she never met on the train home from work. Each woman shared a secret thinking they would never see each other again but then the woman from the train tracks down Selena and texts her asking to see her again.
What follows is a fast paced book told from many different points of view that collide at the end of the book.
It’s one of those books that you can see happening. How many times have we all chatted to a stranger on a journey, only this book is about a conversation that was more deeper than most would get in to with consequences that make for a really enjoyable thriller!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for gifting me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Fast-paced with lots of twists and turns along the way. This is about a woman called Selena, who shares secrets about her life to a stranger, Martha on the train. This is told through multiple narrators which works well and I highly recommend it.

Thanks to NetGalley for this copy.

Started off as a book that I couldn't put down, then I kind of lost interest for a while. Picked it back up several days later & was taken on a roller coaster ride full of twists & turns. Many thanks to Netgalley for my ARC in return for my honest review.

This is a “can’t miss” 5 star thriller! Fast-paced and engrossing, I stayed up until 2 a.m. to finish it! Told from different points of view, the plot about a young woman, a secret she confides ro a stranger on a train, husband and a nanny, races along seemingly on different paths but the strands come expertly together in a great ending. So well done, this is a thriller you don’t want to miss - one of my favorite thrillers of 2020!!

Thanks to Netgalley for this advance copy in exchange for an honest review. Confessions on the 7:45 is out on October 6!

Selena is living a seemingly good life until she finds her out her recently out of work husband is sleeping with the nanny. When she misses her train home from work, she takes the 7:45 and ends up sitting next to a woman who confides that she is having an affair with her boss. Selena then shares her suspicions about her husband with the woman before they part ways. Shortly after, the babysitter goes missing and Selena and her husband were the last people to see her.

4.5 stars.

This was a really solid and enjoyable novel. I was really wanting to know what was going on in this novel and that kept me turing the pages. I did guess a few things before the were revealed but that didn't detract from my enjoyment. I have loved some books from this author and really not loved others. This one was close to the love category and I look forward to her next novel.

This book was fantastic! Dark, creepy and mysterious, the further I read the deeper I found myself in the lives of some of the most deceitful, misleading and untrustworthy people I have ever had the utter joy to read about. An absolutely wonderful book. Highly recommended xxx

Compulsive, gripping, dark and oozing with a palpable sense of menace. Psychological thrillers don't get any better than this. After reading 'Confessions On The 7.45' it now seems certain that I will have to re-shuffle my top 10 thrillers of 2020. I simply cannot leave Lisa Unger's masterpiece out of my books of the year. I could list all the usual superlatives that many of us would associate with a literally unputdownable read, but lets cut to the chase, because this one has it all. So, imagine I have included all the typical, in this case, deserved plaudits and talk about the story. Firstly, the plotting is ingenious and devilishly clever. Unger offers us multiple perspectives of events from an assorted cast of female characters. Yes, this book is certainly one for the girls, with gender looming large not only in relations between men and women, but also between the women themselves. The subjective viewpoints of each woman, however, complicates our whole notion of identity as something stable and unchanging. As you read on you will see why. Identity as a metamorphosis precipitated by the lies we tell ourselves and others is the theme du jour of Unger's perfectly crafted thriller. This book is the product of the intersecting lives of Selena, Geneva, Anne, Pearl, Martha, and a few others. The results: well, that's easy - explosive. Of course, not everything is as it seems. Unger seems to delight in misdirection and questioning her readers assumptions. This also gives the book a certain edge and air of mystery, making this an unquestionably compulsive read. A sure-fire smash-hit for 2020.

An excellent read of 2020.
Selena Murphy’s train home from work, a mysterious woman named Martha strikes up a conversation and shares a confession: she’s having an affair with her boss. In turn, Selena shares her own secret: she suspects her husband is sleeping with the nanny.
At Selena’s station the two women part, and Selena never expects to see her again. Until she receives a message. I’d love to continue our conversation. Can we get together? It’s Martha, by the way. From the train.
But Selena never gave Martha her number. She brushes the message off – until days later her nanny goes missing, and Selena begins to wonder if it’s all connected. Who is Martha, really? And what does she want with Selena?
I loved the character of Selena. I adored her throughout the whole story.
Narration of the story is flawless.
Thanks to NetGalley and HQ for giving me an advance copy.
