This story takes off right from the first page. Several story lines are quickly woven together to keep the action moving and the tension building. As the characters react to threats that will lead them to a showdown, we learn more about the decisions that put them here and the actions that must be taken to live through to fight another day.

There are two women who are on the same train from Washington D.C. who look similar in both looks and dress. Dana barely sees a man who killed another man while Jenny walking through the train is chased by the same man who is shooting at her. Jenny works for the FBI and Dana works for a non-profit. Eventually the women team up and head for Jenny's family home in Minnesota.
The story follows the women with men after them for different reasons. One is a man who the murdered man took his cell phone and he is trying to get it back. He brings other men along with him. The other is Dana's boss. The story follows each person and where they are and what they are thinking as the story progresses.
They are heading home to Jenny's law enforcement family.

I enjoyed this book. It reminded me of a fast paced chase scene in a movie, but the chase is across country on a train where two people are mistaken for each other. The characters were well developed and interesting and the multiple viewpoints provided an interesting perpsective on the plot. I found a few parts a bit unbelievable, but the story allowed me to suspend belief to keep on reading. Overall I found it a good read and would recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Makes me want to go back and read book 1. The author did an excellent job of weaving the characters together. I was able to keep them all straight.

I’m adding this author to my list of authors to be on auto-read. This tightly-plotted suspense took my breath away as dastardly evildoers tracked the two heroines (or heroine and almost heroine) cross-country beginning with the train ride and culminating in Wisconsin. In Jenny, I’ve also found a new character to follow and cheer for in her series. This is a must read for anyone who likes chills running down their spine as they read. It’s a 5-star read for me.

This book was just a whirlwind. It gave the feel of one of those action capers where everyone is separately working toward the same end. You know it's coming and you just want to see how they all get there. I wanted a little more of the backstory, especially what happened in DC! Parts were a little graphic, but not overly so. Overall, I liked the fast pace and the way every path intercepts.

This is a thrilling, fast-paced novel with more than a few unbelievable coincidences, however, the story flows so well and is entertaining enough that you don’t care. The backstories of the characters are just enough that you feel you know and care about them but always leave you wanting more. There is a lot of potential for many more books in order to turn this into a series. I am eager to find out more about these characters before and after.

Jenny is an FBI agent on administrative leave due to an incident under investigation. Dana is an office assistant on the run from her boss, Tony, after she learns he is embezzling money from their company. Sykes is a powerful man trying to retrieve his stolen phone that contains the details of all his criminal activity. Tony and Skyes are willing to kill whoever gets in their way. Jenny and Dana, dressed similarly and on the same train towards Jenny’s hometown, are pushed together when Sykes confuses the two. As all the characters get closer to a final confrontation, what the men don’t know is that Jenny has five brothers and a father in law enforcement, so it won’t be an easy as they think!

I loved how the author connected the multiple storylines into a convergence at the end. Suspenseful and action packed, I couldn’t see where I was being lead until it was on top of me with a shocking ending.

A Deadly Train Trip

Jenny Roberts, an FBI agent, has been placed on administrative leave after her team foiled a terrorist plot. Unfortunately, her boss threw her under the bus when the team was cited for using unapproved methods in the takedown. Now Jenny is on her way home on a train to Wisconsin not knowing whether she still has a career.

On the train she is mistaken for Dana a woman carrying information that will indict her boss on criminal activity taking place in the company. A ruthless killer is also on the train. He kills the man he’s after, but Dana sees the killer. Now he’s after her. Jenny is also a target of the killer because of her resemblance to Dana.

This book is non-stop action. Basically, it is a chase scene as Dana and Jenny try to evade the killer long enough to get to Jenny’s home where she will have backup from her law enforcement brothers and father.

There are plenty of twists that keep you guessing until the major twist at the end which brings all the threads of the plot together. If you enjoy fast moving thrillers, you may like this one.

I received this book from Net Galley for this review.

this book wasn't really for me, too much unbelievable stuff, too many villians, too many coincidences. I finished it but skimmed through a lot of the chapters. other people seemed to like the action part of it more than i did

When I read this book, I could not turn the pages, well really tap to the right on my Kindle fast enough. A definite non-stop action mystery and suspense story! I really enjoyed the character of Jenny Roberts, an FBI agent, former military and from a family of cops. Jenny was blamed when her team leader lied about a case, now she is on administrative leave and going home to Wisconsin. A woman named Dana Carlisle is on the same train as Jenny and trying to escape from her boss. A killer is also on the train and believes that one of them may be able to identify him. He is determined that they don’t survive. Jenny notices that she and Dana look enough alike to be sisters and when they flee from the train, takes Dana with her to protect her. Jenny didn’t count on the killer tracking them to her home, but she knows her family of dedicated cops will stand strong against whatever is coming. I would love to see more stories with Jenny Roberts involving her ex, her leave and her family. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. A riveting read of action filled drama. Jenny is being forced to take time off from her job at the FBI and all she wants to do is maybe go see her family. Nothing goes as planned. Her journey becomes a horror show that follows her all the way home and picks up an interesting cast of characters. Staying one step of the bad guys until they can have their final showdown will take all her wits.

I received a free copy from NetGalley. On leave from the FBI and on a train headed home, the main character gets mistaken for the witness to a crime. Three characters tell their versions of the tale and the story moves on. Action packed and ready for the big screen the pages keep turning.

This is a fast paced thriller with plenty of action. The story is told from multiple perspectives which I actually enjoy. The multiple viewpoints give the reader a glimpse into the motivation of the principle characters There is plenty of suspense that builds to a not unexpected, but still riveting, confrontation.. The only complaint I have comes at the ending. I wanted more closure on what happened in the lives of Jenny ad Dana. Will this be the start to a new series? The ending did seem to plant that seed. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

A MUST for your TBR list! Fast-paced! Riveting! Exciting! Addictive! Not only is this a very well-written book with wonderfully-interesting characters, but the suspense builds at just the right pace as the story unfolds. It was an artful melding of twisted psychological thrills and nail-biting suspense that kept me hooked the whole way!

*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.

Mistaken Identity will keep the pages turning as the suspense and action is never lets up.

I love Jenny Roberts FBI agent on administrative leave pending an investigation. She is wise, she is funny and she can compete and fight with the best of them.

Dana and Jenny are mistaken for each other and they are now a target as they ride the train to Wisconsin. I am glad I wasn't on that train.

I don't want to give anything away, suffice to say there is a lot of action, twists and turns . I laughed out loud several times.

Mistaken Identity is an action packed read you do not want to miss.

I hope there is sequel.

Now I am off to check out Michael Sherer's other books.

Thanks to Net Galley and Cutter Press for letting me go on this journey with Jenny, Dana and Mick. Loved it.

Jenny Roberts has tough competition right from childhood from her brothers. It comes as no wonder when she joins the Army at 18 and grows among the ranks steadily, finally becoming a member of FBI's elite task force. But there's a goof-up at work and Jenny is put on "administrative leave". She decides to use this time to visit her family in Wisconsin after nearly 10 years.

Dana works at an NGO and suddenly stumbles upon the fact that someone is embezzling funds. She has a shrewd guess and her suspicions are confirmed when her boss, Toby tries to make her stay back by force. But she escapes.

Mick is an enforcer at a gentleman's club. But he disapproves of his employer Sykes's methods and consequently steals his phone as evidence and mails it to his friend. It turns out the friend is Jenny's brother.

All these three (and Sykes, hot on Mick's pursuit) board the train to Wisconsin. During the journey, Dana witnesses something she shouldn't have seen involving Sykes. Sykes mistakes Jenny for Dana. Jenny is forced to get off the train with no idea why a maniacal Sykes is firing at her. Amidst all this drama, Dana's face is aired on TV and Toby starts following her with a vengeance as well.

Mistaken Identity is a high-octane thriller full of twists and turns and some hilarious moments as well.

I enjoyed reading it. Very much.

Thanks to Netgalley and Cutter Press for an ARC.

DC-based FBI Agent Jenny Roberts helped neutralize a terrorist plot on US soil, but her unit did not follow protocol and her unit leader "threw her under a bus", so she is on indefinite administrative leave. Feeling restless, she decides to head home to Wisconsin to see the family she has not seen in over ten years.

Mick is an enforcer for Benton Sykes, the owner of a private high-end gentleman's club in the DC area. After being required to kill a client (who happened to be a Congressman), with the killing filmed by his partner, Mick expressed his displeasure to Sykes, who has no sympathy. In an impulsive moment, Mick steals Sykes' private cell-phone, planning to delete the video or force Sykes to delete the video before he returns the phone. Unbeknownst to Mick, this phone contains access to all of the secrets of Sykes' operation and Sykes is desperate to get it back. After his plan quickly goes south, Mick mails the phone to a childhood friend (who happens to be Jenny's brother) and hops a train to Wisconsin.

Dana is an administrative assistant for a non-profit. She feels unappreciated and she has been skimming money from accounts, but discovers that someone has been embezzling millions. When her boss, Toby, says he wants to speak to her shortly after she was in the copy room looking for evidence, she fears Toby suspects her to be the embezzler and she panics and flees. Toby chases after her but she manages to escape.

Jenny, Mick, and Dana all end up on the same train heading towards Wisconsin. Dana accidentally sees something she was not supposed to and is afraid that she was seen as well, so she rushes back to her seat. A short time later, Jenny is passing through a section of the train when a strange man (Sykes) shoots at her. Unbeknownst to Jenny, she and Dana look very much alike and she has been mistaken for Dana. Jenny jumps off the train, with Sykes chasing her. Dana sees them and yells out that a murderer is getting away. Before long, two dead bodies are discovered on the train, which stops, with the conductor telling the passengers there has been a medical emergency. The news coverage of the murders includes a glimpse of Dana on the train, sending Toby chasing after her.

The story follows Jenny's attempt to get back to the train and find her look-alike (Dana) and figure out why someone (Sykes) is shooting at her, their efforts to escape their pursuers (Sykes, Toby, and a pair of Russians that Sykes has enlisted to assist him, calling in a favor). There are multiple close calls as various people cross paths, often with the interference of one person inadvertently thwarting the plans of others. Everyone is trying to figure out who the other parties are, what they want, and where they are going next.

The story has plenty of action and intrigue, with lots of twists and turns, as well as some rather comedic moments. The author does a good job of portraying the loss of control by Sykes, who normally has everything planned in advance and has the resources to solve any problem he confronts. However, he let the loss of his phone become too personal and he began to make a series of very costly mistakes. Toby also finds his situation steadily spiraling out of control, driven by his anger at and hatred of Dana, who not only can ruin him financially, but who has repeatedly refused his attempts at a "personal" relationship. The misery that Toby eventually experiences on this cross-country chase is quite amusing. Jenny is also off her game, making mistakes and overlooking things, which places her, Dana, and ultimately her family in considerable danger. The characters are well developed and there are some especially poignant moments at the end when Jenny is with her family and both her and her father confront the issue that drove her away almost fifteen years ago, with both of them having blamed themselves for events that tore the family apart.

My complaint with the book is that the author has Jenny remember and "relive" being sexually assaulted by her commanding officer while serving in Iraq. The commanding officer is not a character in any of the current events, Jenny is not at risk of being sexually assaulted in her current situation, and there is nothing about Jenny that is revealed by that memory/flashback that could not have been revealed in a different manner. That section of the book comes across as nothing more than gratuitous sexual violence. As a result, I have given the book a lower rating that I would have otherwise. Overall, "Mistaken Identity" is still quite a good read and I would recommend it to anyone who finds the general storyline appealing.

I received a copy of the e-book via NetGalley in exchange for a review.
