My thanks to NetGalley and publisher Cutter Press for the ARC.
I really enjoyed this book. For the most part it's fast-paced and action-packed, edge-of-your-seat stuff as the lives of the main characters collide on The Cardinal train from Washington DC to Charlottesville..

Jenny Roberts, having grown up with three brothers, worked hard to prove herself. She joined the Army aged eighteen, became an MP, took all the courses and joined the FBI, ultimately joining an elite anti-terrorist squad until an incident has put her on administrative leave and, after 10 years, she's travelling home to Wisconsin.
Mick Constanza joined the army, could take orders and had learned to kill; he thought he would join the police but they wouldn't have him and struggling with civilian life takes a security job for the owner of an exclusive DC gentleman's club - except now he's questioning Mr Sykes' methods and what's expected of him. Opportunistically he steals Mr Sykes' phone, posts it to his home town to Billy Roberts for safekeeping, but Sykes has men tracking him as he boards the train for Chicago to follow the phone..
Dana Carlisle works for a charitable foundation in DC and has uncovered millions of dollars of embezzlement. Her boss, Toby, is sure she knows something about it so Dana runs, boarding the train, determined to get to the bottom of the fraud.
Both Dana and Jenny are dressed similarly for their journey and when Dana accidentally witnesses a murder on the train Jenny is mistakenly identified. She has to find Dana and warn her.

This is an exciting read with twists and turns and a massive shoot-out at Jenny's family home involving Sykes as well as Russian gangsters - just what did Sykes have on that phone to bring all this about? Can Dana trace the money before Toby gets to her?

I did find, though, there were lots of passages around childhood/ family reminiscences which were a bit too lengthy, hence 4*, not 5*.

Action from the very first page to the last. Now that is what I call a good book. But I won't be booking a train trip any time soon. So many different story threads intertwine to make the story a page turner. Each separate thread could be it's own short story. But mixed together it makes a story you just don't want to put down. I thought the story was well done.

There can be few thrillers which enthrall and keep the adrenaline going as much as this. From the outset you meet the characters and get the idea they will all quickly converge at one place and something serious will happen. Well, what does happen is quite sickening and it locks together the fate of some disparate souls with one exception; two share a similar likeness. Then the race is on, to either escape or find the root cause of the mix up. Either way it's Wacky Races for adults and it sure isn't going to end well. The novel culminates in a shoot out at the O.K. Corral (or what passes for one and it quickly turns to matchwood).
Great pace and action, I just couldn't put it down.

I like the plot and main characters. It needs serious editing for spelling, punctuation and continuously going over the same stuff too many times. And going back to what someone did before interrupts the flow. My guess is 20% of the book should go. The ending was great up until the abrupt ending. I want to know more about how Jen and Dana do in their lives. I want more of a wrap up on Jens FBI job. So I would rate this 2 stars. Clean up the grammar and tighten the story and change ending 4 stars. I realize some authors put their books on Net Galley before publication but why on earth put your books out for reviews before there ready?

This is an entertaining story with great characters, and the plot would have been excellent if it wasn't based on the mother of all coincidences. What I really don't like, however, is the changing POV, with most of the story told by the author (including repetitions), and some by the main character. There are also several side stories that are put in only to prolong the suspense.

Having been put on leave by the FBI, Jenny is taking the train home to the Midwest. Dana, fleeing her boss Toby. with an incriminating thumb drive in her pocket, is also on the train. And Mick, who has stolen a phone from his boss Sykes and mailed it to his friend in the Midwest is also on the train. Skyes figures it out and gets on the train to confront him. It ends badly for Mick when Sykes tortures and kills him. He is spotted by Dana who jumps from the train to escape, as does Jenny. The two women meet up and try to avoid Sykes and his two Russian thug assistants. Edge of your seat as the women flee in a rented car pursued by both Sykes and Toby - and the Russian gangsters. When the women reach their destination, the assassins are not far behind. A thrill a minute and a must read!

Mistaken Identity by Michael Sherer is certainly a fast-moving psychological thriller that will keep you in suspense cheering for the two look alikes as they travel cross country in danger of their lives trying to escape evil-doers with hidden agendas. I was spellbound as one no-good turn led to another. Read it for an exciting mystery.

Delightful! I really enjoyed #mistakenidentity and found all the characters, especially Jenny, the FBI operative. The bad guys are typical political and old-school geographical villains but it works here. I really enjoyed the characters traveling via train and headed back to home stomping grounds. I look forward to another book featuring these characters. Full disclosure: I received this ebook from #netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Expected to publish September 30, 2020.

I received a gifted copy from Mr. Sherer via NetGalley for a read and review.

Imagine being mistaken for someone else, simply because you are dressed the same way ... the only difference being a few extra pounds. Dana and Jenny each found themselves in this exact situation, Dana because she discovered a bit of embezzlement at her place of employment and Jenny (an FBI agent) because she was on her way home after being suspended from her job.

Mr. Sherer does an excellent job of combining Dana and Jenny's lives, mixed in with the bad guys chasing these two women, sprinkling in just a bit of romance ... rekindling a relationship between Jenny and Nate (who have a backstory of their own).

Messing with identities is the author’s specialty, and he does a great job of weaving a web of thrills and action. The characters are well developed and engender empathy in the reader. Lots to keep you reading this non-stop story.
