This book was not for me I guess. I read it really quickly, probably because it was so short, but I did not care for any of the characters. Even though she was the main character, Emilia had no character development throughout and I felt like I knew nothing about her, apart from who she was dating/having sex with. Charles had some character development and some sort of back story but I did not like him. He kind of annoyed me.

The relationship was not the best. At the beginning, Emilia says she is repulsed by Charles which put me off the idea of them being together. They also didn’t have any chemistry at all so I didn’t want them to be together or believe that these two people would end up together in real life.

‘Capturing Emilia’ was a quick novella but it isn’t a book that will stay with me. It wasn’t the best but I’m sure someone else might like it.

I am afraid this book was not for me. It was the first book I had read by the author, and I enjoyed her writing style so would read another of her books, but this novella did not grab me. It was short so I finished it, but it will not stay with me.
Emilia is a librarian and archivist who is sensible, smart and living in London on her own for the first time. After breaking up with her first real boyfriend she meets an older man, Charlie, a confident, self-made entrepreneur and partner in an estate agency, who is nothing like any man she has ever met before. Charlie falls for Emilia immediately even though she is not his type. Emilia tries to fight her feelings for Charlie....
The characters of Emilia and Charlie were quite stereotypical and their romance was very old fashioned although in a modern day setting. It felt somewhat unrealistic that two people aged 29 and early 40s in today’s society would behave in the way that they did.
As I say, although the book was well written which shows the author’s talent, it was just not one for me.
Thanks to NetGalley for a Kindle copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
