This is evidently a modern version of Jane Eyre. It is an easy read. None of the characters are likeable but I kept reading as I was interested to find out what happened.

Thank you to NetGalley for my copy.

This novel sings with homage to Jane Eyre, but with a domestic noir twist – and I loved it. Dog walker Jane – who’s got more than a few skeletons in her cupboard – meets Eddie Rochester and is instantly smitten. He’s got a big house, in which he lives alone since his wife’s death a year ago. Eddie can offer everything Jane has craved since childhood but surely he’s not hiding a massive secret, one that could shatter everything that he’s worked for until now? With subtle references to Bronte’s classic, this is a clever, tight read that you expect you know what’ll happen but don’t worry, you’ll be super impressed by the ending.
