An enjoyable ramble through memories.
Just a couple of issues.
1. Spelling. Now I appreciate US spelling is often different but 'waste' instead of 'waist' can't be correct.
2. The book keeps printing the author's name randomly on the page. - and why disguise himself as Sean? The book is based on his own experiences so why not own it? It is written in the first person as an autobiography anyway.

Gently humourous it is a nice.read , whilst not high literature. 3.5 not good enough for 4, but better than some

oh man this book. i'm so sorry but this book was terrible. i received an advanced copy from netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review and um. i'm going honest.

1. really deeply unclear whether this is supposed to be a novel or a memoir. if it's a novel it's even worse because it's got like no sense of storytelling whatsoever. if it's a memoir then at least it's like. true. but if it's a novel then it bounces all over the place, makes no sense, all the characters talk exactly the same (and are deeply annoying), everyone except the narrator is barely developed at all, and it's boring as hell.

2. i got an arc so please someone tell me the typos were fixed because they were like every page. often multiples in a page.

3. lot of problematic stuff about race that i just wasn't a fan of. also not great with women.

i really can't. i can't believe i finished this. hours i want back.

I love fiction books that are based on a true story and The Adventures of an Air Force Medic by Dave Ives is just that! I enjoyed all the stories and Ives brought them alive with his clever writing style and you felt like you were on the adventure with the characters. This was a quick and fun read!

After his life goals are severely crushed, Sean has to make some decisions about what he's going to be when he grows up.
He decides the Air Force will work, but ends up becoming a medic after basic. With no desire to stay a "bed pan commando", he finds a way out. He can become an engineer, but as he inches his way to that path while working as a medic, he discovers helping others might be the adventure he''s been waiting for.
Fun read. Told from first person. The dialogue was quick and some funny moments.
Despite it being a work of fiction, for anyone who wants to know what an AF medic's day would consist of, this would be a good bit of education for them.

This book was interesting and felt real at times
Sean wants to be in the US Air Force and isn’t to bothered about the job he gets assigned which turns out to be that of medic. UK readers think health care assistant type role. But he wants out and spends a lot of time studying as he has found out that the Air Force may be able to send him to college to be an engineer
I enjoyed reading Sean’s story, it’s based on the authors own time as a medic and I suspect that there is a lot of fact mixed in with the fiction that I more than once forgot it was fiction
It was interesting learning more about how Air Force hospitals work and the kind of things that the staff can face. I also enjoyed the character interactions and how different things can be compared to normal life
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy medical fiction that is so well blended with fact and who want to know more about the Air Force and the life of a medic

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.
Even though this book is fiction ,it's based on a true story. It is written so you feel like you're part of the adventure. I like how each short chapter was on a certain event with some of the people going through many events with the character. This was a fun and relaxing book for me.

This book is pretty much what it says on the tin - just delete “adventures”.

It felt very much like a yarn recounted in a roundabout way by someone I didn’t know very well. I got no real sense of the main character, Anyone else, the time or the place. This book might be an okay way to pass the time in hospital or (in the Beforetime) waiting for a flight, where you really are not up to reading anything absorbing or demanding.

This was a fun read. Sean Mitchell actually grew up in the Air Force, not from childhood but from joining and having no idea where he was going with that. Sean spent two years as an Air Force medic at Mather Air Force Base, Sacramento, California. It was a long way from where he grew up in New Hampshire. He takes you through the good and the bad with being a medic. He joined just going with the flow, but he left Mather with a plan and a purpose.

An e-book copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

"The Adventures of an Air Force Medic" is a story based on Dave Ives’ (author) time as an air force medic. A great read full of laughs and tears, I loved reading this book. Told from a future point of view, Sean recalls his days in the Air Force. My favorite thing about this book, besides the story, is the formating. Each chapter starts off with a title in bold as well as a single line ripped off directly from somewhere in that chapter (usually the chapter's highlight). I loved trying to guess what the chapter was going to be about just using the "sneak peek" as a hint.

Sean gets into the Air Force and to his horror, he lands himself a job as an air force medic. As soon as he finds out he's a medic, he's already planning for ways to get out and the only (closest) way out is to get accepted in the AECP (Airman and Commissioning Program) but the program is extremely competitive. The main plot of this book about Sean studying during every possible moment so that his application is strong.

Alongside the main plot, each chapter is written in a way that's almost like a diary entry; each an event that takes place during Sean's stay at the dorms/service and his time working as a medic. You get to see bits and pieces of his time interacting with his friends, his co-workers, and his patients.

An engaging and page-turning read, I had a lot of fun with this book!

This book is a relaxing read and very funny in parts. The protagonist, Sean Mitchell, tells some of the things that happened to the author when he was a medic in the navy. I enjoyed it.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from BooksGoSocial. The opinions in this review are completely my own.
