Carly was thirteen, not very happy that she was having to baby sit her twin sisters as she is far more interested in her phone. Marie & Leah managed to throw their ball out of the garden & then the dog escaped! As she went to look for it the three of them were bundled into a van & driven away. Thrown into a cold room with minimum of comforts she feels it is her fault. Ultimately they escape.

Twenty years on, but those days still haunt them. Carly cannot get rid of her guilt, Marie hides her confusion in drink & drugs. Leah would seem to have fared better as she is married with a small son she adores. However she is plagued by OCD, sees their captor everywhere & is obsessed by the thought of germs. As the anniversary of their kidnap comes around Leah gets worse. Marie, desperate for money, wants them to take part in a TV programme about the abduction.

Told from different perspectives this really kept me reading- just when I think I know what is going on another surprise hits me! Full marks for surprises Louise Jensen! Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.

I'm still holding my breath. So many unexpected twists and turns. A great story about unbelievable childhood traumas and how it shapes their future.

I found a lot going on in this book, sometimes to the point I had to stop reading. The further in, however, you can understand why.
Lots of plot twists and guessing games. 3.5*

This is a 4.75* from me.
Louise Jensen is a UK author who is new to me. I rarely wax lyrical about a book, but what a riveting totally emotionally immersive heart wringing book. At the end I am emotionally wrung out. I highly recommend this book.
I was lucky to get an arc of this psychological thriller of 3 sisters kidnapped. Carly, The oldest and twins Leah and Marie.
It looks at the before and after, the after is mostly on the lead up to the 20th anniversary.
I engaged with the girls and their trauma early in the book.
Their resulting crippling individual mental health struggles are so well written.
The twists are shocking!
Thanks to Netgalley for letting me read an arc.

Wow this is a brilliantly plotted, fast paced rollercoaster. I read it in one sitting. The characters are well described and believable and the story is a page turner. Turn off your phone, leave your work behind and don’t expect to surface until you’ve finished this great book. A very well deserved five stars

This book is told over two time lines which I usually don’t like but the author has made it work well. The story is well written and has a good twist that I didn’t see coming. I think it’s a good read overall.

I would like to thank HQ, Louise Jensen and #NetGalley for the advanced copy of #TheStolenSisters and for giving me this opportunity to give an honest review.

The story is told by three sisters Carly the older sister and the twins Marie and Leah who where abducted when they were children. Leah tells the story at the present time as how it has effected her life and her sisters.

There are a lots of twists and turns in this book giving you the odd red herring which is good as you don't want to guess early on in the story. As you turn the pages you want to know why these sister were abducted and why did their relationship with their mother and father has dissolved. It is a cracker of a book an well worth a read.

This brilliantly written book wasn’t an easy read because I felt every emotion, every moment of fear, every element of being out of control. I finished it with tears running down my face. I don’t want to give anything away - you must read it for yourself.

Twisting timelines make this a great tense thriller. Was shocked by the great ending. Looking forward to the next book from Louise Jensen

Told over two time lines, ‘then’ being the kidnap and ‘now’ being 20 years later, this book certainly had quite a good twist that I didn’t see coming. I did struggle to work out the actual time frame for the kidnap though, it felt like less than 48 hours but I’m not sure if that was correct. Overall a good read for the genre but still lacking that special something to make it stand out. Thank you to NetGalley and HQ for letting me read and review this book.

I am sure I say it every time I review one of Louise’s books that she just gets better and better, and with every new book she releases, I have a new favourite. The Stolen Sisters is no exception to this, and in my opinion is Louise’s best book yet.

Told in turns by sisters Carly and Leah, the story of the Sinclair sisters slowly unfolds with Carly’s chapters recounting the events surrounding their abduction, and Leah picking the story up in the present day, when fresh fears surround them. At just 13 at the time of their abduction, you can feel the terror in Carly’s chapters, and how responsible she feels for keeping 8 year old twins, Leah and Marie safe. Their experiences are almost unimaginable and yet Louise captures them in such a way that you feel you are right there with them. As we catch up with the now grown up sisters in Leah’s chapters, the long-term damage of their ordeal becomes apparent as they each battle their own demons and struggle with their own secrets.

As harrowing as the details of the abduction are, it is the aftermath and the fact that their experiences have driven the sisters apart rather then pulling them closer together that is truly devastating. They all just seem so broken and alone.

As the story unfolds and the extent of the betrayals suffered by each of the sisters is revealed, my heart just broke for them time and time again.

Always the master of a great thriller, Louise introduces a depth of emotion to this book that makes it so much more than just a psychological thriller.

Wow!  I very quickly became engaged and invested in this book and the characters and devoured this book within 2 days.

Three sisters, all abducted together.  We know early on that they came to no physical harm as the story flits between them as adults and as children as their abduction unfolds.  However, they have mentally been changed for life.

Full of dark revelations and red herrings, I was dying to know WHY them, WHY they were abducted, HOW did their relationship with their mother break down.

Fast paced, twisted and intriguing.  I would definitely recommend if you enjoy a psychological thriller!

The story is told from what happened twenty years ago when the sisters where bundled I to a van and and now when the sisters are troubled.
Leah her marriage isn't what it seems.

Carly has not forgiven herself for not keeping her sisters safe.
And when the person responsible is released from prison and Leah finds hand delivered notes on her doormat each morning up to the date of the anniversary Leah think he's coming back for them and to finally silence them.

Thanks to Netgalley and HQ for providing this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Three sisters were kidnapped from nearby their home. Now the 20th anniversary is coming up and all three sisters are still dealing with issues from the kidnapping.

This novel is told from the perspectives of the sisters and one sister’s husband in the present, which are mixed with chapters from the abduction and holding of the girls 20 years ago. I have read all and enjoyed most of this author’s novels but I am sorry to say I had a lot of trouble getting into this one. I don’t know why that is. I think I really don’t like hostage situations because people being held in a room is boring to me. While that was only part of the book, I think those chapters stopped me from getting interested in the present day story. By the time this one got crazy at around 75%, I just wasn’t that interested anymore. With that said, I will read more from this author.

‘ The Stolen Sisters’ is the latest book by Louise Jensen and is currently only 99p on the Kindle Store, which is a must buy for fans of the author and fans of tense thrillers.

Leah’s perfect marriage isn’t what it seems but the biggest lie of all is that she’s learned to live with what happened all those years ago.Marie drinks a bit too much to help her forget. And Carly has never forgiven herself for not keeping them safe. Twenty years ago The Sinclair Sisters were taken. But what came after their return was far worse. Can a family ever recover, especially when not everyone is telling the truth?

The story is about the 3 sisters Carly, Leah and Marie Sinclair who one day are kidnapped from their house and spend the next couple of days keep captive in an old military base and were fed crisps and sweets to keep their energy going, before they finally escaped to freedom. Now, it’s the 20th anniversary of their kidnapping and the women are on edge especially when they begin to receive letters counting down to the actual day. The kidnapping received a lot of interest from the media and the girls became a national treasure.

The story is written in the past and present sequences with the past scenes seen through Carly’s perspective and the present scenes are seen through Leah’s narrative. Carly is a typical teenager, desperate to hear from Dean, the boy that she likes and when she doesn’t hear from him, she takes her disappointment on her 8 year old twin sisters Marie and Leah. Snapping and being nasty to them, she makes them out go outside the house to retrieve their lost ball and this is when the kidnapping occurs. But during the kidnapping, she feels terrible for her behaviour and makes it her duty to get them to safety.

20 years after the kidnapping, it’s terribly sad to see how the events have effected the women’s lives. Carly leaves alone with the guilt that she could have prevented it all from happening, if she hadn’t horrible to the girls and looked after them properly. She punishes herself by not letting herself or anyone else get close to her. Leah is married with a little boy but her extreme OCD is ruining her relationship and she’s convinced that every person she sees is the kidnappers even though they are dead and Marie is battling a drink addiction. All 3 women were fun and happy girls and it’s so sad to read the kidnapping ruin their lives.

The story flows between past and present tense in the alternating chapters and this keeps the reader on their toes with this snappy and fast paced thriller. As the days count down to the anniversary and Leah receives more letters, I was gripped by what was going to be revealed on the day and who was behind them. There are so many fractured relationships and characters in the story, that I found myself regularly wondering was it person or was it this person as the story progresses.

One fascinating thing that I learned from reading this book was that Leah suffered from a rare condition called The Fregoli delusion or Fregoli syndrome. A rare disorder in which a person holds a delusional belief that different people are in fact a single person who changes appearance or is in disguise and this was why she was convinced that the kidnappers were following her.

A cleverly crafted and twisted tale with drama and deceit riddled throughout, ‘The Stolen Sisters’ is a sad and traumatic tale that made for gripping reading with hook and reveal that left me chilled.

You can buy ‘The Stolen Sisters’ from Amazon and is available to buy from good bookshops.

When we meet the Sinclair Sisters - Carly, Leah and Marie - they are fairly typical kids. However, they are about to undergo a traumatic experience, one that will shape them for the future. Carly resents being left to babysit her younger sisters, but her only thought is to protect them when they are abducted from outside their house.
Told in split narrative we see that the girls survived their experience, and the story focuses on us learning how this has affected them. We follow them as they deal with both their past and present.
The style of writing was absorbing, and there were plenty of hints about secrets being held - meaning plenty of chances to hypothesise and try to work out exactly what was being covered up. While some elements were quite obvious, there were one or two surprises that meant some parts of the story didn’t feel resolved until later.
Thanks to NetGalley for giving me the chance to read this prior to publication.
