What an amazing novel! The characters were well drawn and the storyline flowed seamlessly. The mystery kept me guessing until the very end. Highly recommended!

WOW! Alex Knight did not disappoint. From reading the blurb about the book it tells you just enough to get you in but not enough to spoil it. We meet two main characters Jake and Molly, and both have a way at making you feel like they could be your next door neighbors except for one thing.... molly is a young teenager who has been “abducted” by the man whom she has run to in the middle of the night. The author does an amazing job at keeping the readers interest and providing enough details for you to follow along but not too much that makes the story full of useless information. The story will keep you on the edge of your seat trying to figure out the next move... but can you?

Thank you to netgalley as well as the author/publisher for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

What a great rollercoaster experience this thrilling book was! The blurb hooks you in straight from the off and the promise of more to come does not disappoint.
I loved that even though the story unfolds it is well into the book before Jake understands more about what is happening (can't be more specific because it might spoil it). Jake shows real human traits having to deal with Molly, his girlfriend's teenage daughter, and it shows he is also vulnerable while Molly's character gives enough of the teenage stroppiness to make her believable yet also likeable. Jake is a real "good guy" and desperate to do the right thing but doesn't want to compromise his own life.
The story is pacy and keeps you wanting to find out what will happen next yet at the same time contains detailed descriptions which mean as a reader you can picture the characters in the scene in your minds eye.
I'd highly recommend this book if you like a thriller that is a bit unpredictable, where you second guess the main villain then change your mind as you continue to read. As a voracious reader I really appreciate this aspect because it keeps me on my toes! Well done Alex Knight, thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read and review! Waiting with baited breath for more!

An enjoyable thriller, fast paced but to be honest not particularly thrilling as there seemed to me to be no doubt that right would prevail (eventually). It also struck me that if, as soon as Jake received his Amber Alert, he had gone to the FBI or his police superiors along with Molly, then she would have immediately have been able to clear him; I suppose we might not have got to the bottom of the the whys and wherefores of the plot but it might have led the authorities down a different path than suspecting Jake. It also seemed a very convoluted way to kill the source of the accounting irregularities.

Despite the criticisms I did enjoy the story and it kept me gripped throughout.

My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
