When Marrianne discovers her late husband Greg had been accessing the dark Web weeks before he died in a bike accident, she is shocked. She's even more shocked when she discovers her own name on a hitlist on the dark Web.
This book had lots of twists and turns, so much so that I found it hard to follow. It had a very clever, dark plot which kept me interested until the end.
I would definitely recommend this to any customers looking for a dark, twisty psychological thriller.

I’ve just not read one book by this author and enjoyed it but this is much better. It’s written from different points of view and keeps you from putting it down with short chapters. Strong 4/5.

A great thriller, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Brilliantly written characters that are believable and had me guessing. I always think I can work things out but I was surprised with this one. I enjoyed it and will recommend.

In the grief of her husbands death Marianne goes searching for answers and what she finds sends her on a tense journey. It seems that the more she discovers the deeper the mystery becomes and the more deadly the search is. The constant changes in time and character took a while for my mind to totally clear but did not detract from the story line at all. The plot becomes very deep and often I found that it was totally implausable but this added to the story.
It is a story of organ harvesting, death and human trafficking written inside a strong intense plot.

Still grieving after the untimely death of her husband in a tragic accident Marianne searches his laptop. Disturbingly she discovers that her kind husband has been accessing the dark web. Even more worryingly she discovers that her name is on a hit list. Was he trying to save her or involved in sinister dealings? What does her future and safety hold? The plot is terrifying and the ending unexpected.

Marianne, grieving since the death of her husband Greg in a road accident, decides as it nears the anniversary of his death to go through some of his things including his computer. On there she finds an email to his ex-girlfriend telling her he really needs her, but more disturbingly, there's a link to the dark web and Marianne finds her name on a hit list. She knew things with Greg were rocky before his death, but was it really bad enough that he wanted her killed?

The story is told from the view of several characters: Marianne, Greg, and Sam (the 'hitman'). The first half draws in the reader, keeping you guessing what's going on, but the second half loses its way a little. I found some of Sam's narration meanders to be honest and I wanted to get back to the main plot. The ending is also rather over the top. It's a book that grips you for the first read but I'm not sure how much potential for re-reading there is.

Thanks to NetGalley and publishers, Orion Publishing Group/Trapeze, for the opportunity to read an ARC.

A great thriller with some very satisfying twists and turns. The characters are believable and the stories of trafficked women well told with the sympathy and anger they deserve.
Thank you to netgalley and Orion publishing group for an advance copy of this book

I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters were well written and believable, and it certainly kept me guessing. This is about as twisty as a book gets, just when I thought I had it sussed it took off in a different direction. in the end I just gave up trying to guess and just enjoyed the read. Good book I would recommend it..

When Marianne's husband, Greg is knocked off his bike and killed on his way to work, she must unpickk the life he left behind. Numb with grief, Marianne consoles herself by scouring Greg's laptop. Finding comfort on reading his old emails and tracing his footstepd across the web. Until one day she discovers he had been accessing the dark web. Why was Greg, a principaled charity worker and dedicated husband, logging on to a website that showcases the worst of humanity's cruel impluses, where anything is available for a price?

Marianne is slowly trying to move on after her husband, Greg waas knocked off his bike and killled on his way to work. This story covers: organ harvesting, Human trafficking and illegal immigrants. The story id told from multiple points of view. With lost of twists, it was hard to tell who the bad guys were. There's parts of the book that will have you on the edge of your seat and other parts that are not quite believable. The pace is fast.

This is such a fabulous read and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Marianne's husband, Greg, is killed by a hit and run driver and 12 months after his death, she is still coming to terms with it, particularly as they weren't on the best of terms when he died. Then, she starts to dig through his things, searching for answers and finding a deep, dark secret that she unwittingly becomes part of.

The first part of the book is so riveting as we follow Marianne into the dark web and a hit list, upon which is her name. I was hooked and could hardly breathe as the story unfolds.
Then, we go back to the beginning and the book is written from a number of key perspectives; all of which flow really well.
I did struggle at first with the 'back to before' but I'm so glad I stuck with it as it's very well constructed and brought to a satisfying conclusion - not all of which I'd worked out.

My favourite elements; Some of the writing is so beautiful I found myself pausing and rereading sections.
Least favourite; There's a bit of 'no man can be trusted' although, in fairness, it's clarified and I hate the idea of folk throwing things in the sea! I know it's fiction, but, it bothers me.

I've read all of this author's books and this is up there with the best.

It's fast paced and thrilling and I'm very grateful to NetGalley, Orion Publishing Group and Holly Seddon for the opportunity to preview this page turner. Wishing you all every success.

Oh dear The Hit List was an unusual one for me I am 'on the fence' with this book, there were parts I enjoyed and the beginning of the book captured my attention but then the plot seemed to fall flat and the ending was disappointing. I think I may have enjoyed this book more if I had been in a better frame of mind but I think it’s one of those books you best read for yourself and make up your own mind.

This was my first book by this author and it was an interesting although slightly convoluted read.
Marianne’s husband Greg has been dead for a year but when she starts looking at his possessions on the anniversary of his passing she finds some very strange information on his computer which leads her to believe that her own life is in danger and that her husband was not the man she thought he was; he was keeping some very dark secrets.
The book is told from Marianne’s viewpoint and also that off Sam who appears to be some kind of assassin. As Marianne discovers more so do we the readers and both characters come to life.
This book is about human slavery, trafficking and some other very dark subjects and although it held my attention I did find some of the denoument slightly hard to believe. However it was a compelling read and the characters were well drawn even if Sam’s motivation seemed a bit off to me at times. I wanted to shake this character and tell them to reveal all to their loved ones instead of getting so drawn in to the evil that was being perpetrated.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my arc in exchange for an honest review.

I was utterly gripped by this book. It absolutely blew me away and the feeling of emptiness now I have finished it is overwhelming. Marianne is a brilliant character in every respect and the more we follow her the more invested you feel.

This is a very clever novel; it starts with Marianne who on the first anniversary of the death of her husband trawls through his things, reliving memories. She finds herself on the dark web... and discovers a hit list, with her name on it. We meet another couple - and I can't really say more without a spoiler!

The book is all about secrets, about how keeping secrets for the best reasons can result in dire consequences. It is about relationships, and infidelity; about people-trafficking and making wrong decisions. And about revenge.

A real cracker; it draws the reader in until you are on a roller coaster, and just not sure who is in the driving seat!

I’d like to thank Orion Publishing Group and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘The Hit List’ by Holly Seddon in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

It’s been a year since Marianne’s husband Greg died in a hit-and-run accident. She opens his laptop for the first time since it happened and reads his emails then discovers he was accessing a website on the dark web. On that website are the names of people on a hit list and Marianne is shocked to discover her own name and photograph entered at the end of the list. Sam is being paid to assassinate people and has one more person to eliminate before the job is finished – and her name is Marianne! But who would want Marianne dead, and why?

‘The Hit List’ is an exceptionally well-written dark thriller that’s gripping, horrifying and totally involving. The plot is unpredictable, maybe a fit far-fetched at times, but with lots of drama, tension, excitement, and so compelling that I read it in one sitting unable to stop reading until I knew the identity of the person behind it. A lot is learnt about each individual character as they tell the story from their point of view, and by the time I reached the end my allegiances had changed from one character to another so that the final twist was a perfect way to end an unforgettable thriller.

This is my first book by Holly Seddon but will definitely not be the last.

I really enjoyed the plot and this was such a twisty and clever plot!

Fast paced and compelling with a lot of blackmailing and faceless dangerous lurking I was unable to put it down without immediately wanting to get back to it!

It is narrated by more that one character but it was easy to follow and really intriguing.

I really enjoyed the online discussions and overall, even if it could be a bit farfetched the plot was really incredible and I would highly recommend it! I am very intrigued to what novels will Holly Seddon grace us with next!

Marianne is drowning in grief after her husband Greg is knocked off his bike and killed on the way to work one day. She's slowly trying to move on, but is still drawn to trying to find out what happened, to get close to her old memories of him. Life wasn't perfect with Greg, especially towards the end, but she misses him sorely.

She looks on Greg's old laptop until she finds something... something she wishes she could unsee - he's been accessing the dark web? Why? He was a charity worker, helping people.

She looks further and discovers something even more unsettling: a hit list with her name on it.

Taken aback, Marianne can't help but wonder - is her life truly in danger? Is this why Greg died? Did he put her on the list, or find her there?

This is the sort of book that makes you desperately turn the pages to find the answers. It's a big meaty plot (sometimes I personally prefer more down-to-earth stories, but that's just me) that asks a lot of questions. Certainly kept me reading!
