This testimony was an interesting, shocking and heartbreaking read, all which meant it was hard to put down. The illustrations drawn by the author added to the reader’s understanding of the harrowing experiences Geve went through.

I’m not sure it’s ever appropriate or even possible to give feedback on a book that is based on such a real life and dark experience that we never wish to ever revisit.
I’m so deeply saddened every single time I read a book from Auschwitz survivors and I always feel like they have been robbed of so much of their lives, not just the time that they endured in camp but the memories that stay with them for a lifetime afterwards. I am so wholeheartedly grateful for these men and women, I can only hope and prayer that after this ordeal was over and they approached freedom that their lives were filled with love and joy. I really am in awe of them, their strength and courage is inspiring and just so overwhelming.

A sad yet uplifting account of a young boy through out his time in concentration camps. Beautifully written and the pictures are well detailed , shows you a whole different perspective of the concentration camps.

A devastating, heart-breaking account of life at Auschwitz. Had me in tears.
Reading about WW2 is always heart-breaking because I can't fathom how humanity could have ever dropped so low. But this book is also about hope and survival, about what it means to be resilient in the face of barbarity and not let it corrupt your heart.
Thank you NetGalley for the review copy.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC, in exchange for an honest review.

The Boy Who Drew Auschwitz is the heart-wrenching account by Thomas Geve, of the atrocities he witnessed and experienced first-hand whilst imprisoned in three Nazi concentration camps as a boy, and the small, detailed drawings he documented there.
This was a well written, thought provoking read. Sad but also uplifting, showing the strength he had, the friendships he made and the man he became.
