A word of advice: Do not begin reading “The Wife” at or near your bedtime. If you do, I guarantee you’ll read straight through the night. This psychological thriller by Shalini Boland has some crazy twists and turns that’ll keep you off balance all the way to the end. This gripping tale unfolds in two timelines over a ten year period. The protagonist is Zoe and she considers her life as Toby’s wife to be as close to idyllic as is possible. She’s still enamored with her thoughtful, considerate and loving husband and they’re planning a ten year anniversary party at the same hotel where they were married. But returning to the hotel triggers Zoe’s wedding day memories which have always been murky and clouded by having fainted just prior to the ceremony. Some say that we forget only those events we don’t wish to remember. After reading this spellbinding tale I’m convinced of the truth in that statement. Maybe its an unconscious attempt at self-preservation?

With the anniversary party preparations in motion, a series of events unfold that have Zoe questioning her role as Toby’s wife, her friendships and her family, as her world is turned topsy turvy. What secret is Toby hiding and why? Is he having an affair with his sister-in-law? And why has her sister Dina stayed away for ten long years? Most women want to be able to fondly recall the events of their wedding day and in that respect Zoe is no different. Which brings to mind another adage: Be careful what you wish for.

Shalini Boland has penned a chilling tale that will grab you and take off like a speeding train. So hang on for a wild ride! Five stars.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I want to thank NetGalley, the publisher, and author Shalini Boland for the opportunity to read the ARC The Wife!

I have yet to be disappointed by this author; she is a true talent. The Wife was an incredible page turner that I couldn't put down. Her books read so fast, you'll find yourself trying to slow down so it's not over so quickly. I loved that the story line switched between ten years in the past and present day; this really kept me enthralled in the outcome of the novel. Of course, wonderful twists that I didn't see coming abounded throughout, and I look forward to reading Boland's next title.

Thank you again for the opportunity to read and review this ARC!

I had a feeling that this was going to be another incredible page-turner that would be unputdownable, by Author Shalini Boland, and I was certainly not disappointed.

Zoe and Toby are getting married and Zoe faints before the wedding and cannot remember anything after she comes to and is left with a strange feeling. Over the past 10 years, Zoe has never been able to remember the events leading up to her fainting spell. Zoe and Toby have planned a 10 year anniversary party and then little by little, Zoe starts remembering things. There are lots of strange happenings, twists and turns in this impressive book.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC of this amazing book in exchange for an honest review. If I could, I would give it more than 5 stars.

Awesome quick read just like all of her books! I must admit this one kept me guessing and there are twists and turns that you will not see... What would you do if you work up from fainting and had a feeling that something was off? This book deals with the character that has this exact circumstance happen to her. She lives her life for a decade with this off feeling... You will enjoy reading this book!

A tension-filled and compelling read, The Wife keeps you reading through shock twist and turns that set your pulse racing and that is extremely hard to predict.

Enjoyable read, as have other books been that have been written by this author. The story switches between present day and ten years before, on Zoe's wedding day and the months after the wedding. However, whilst I enjoyed the book overall I was a little disappointed by the ending. Once again it felt too predictable, perhaps I have read many of these types of books now that it is hard to find that unique twist. I did enjoy the epilogue a lot, and I was glad that it was added to make up for the rest of the ending.

Another fabulous read by one of my favorite authors! Zoe’s 10 year wedding anniversary is approaching and she’s hoping she will feel better than she did on her wedding day when she fainted and had to walk down the aisle with a huge bump on her head which gets her thinking, what happened that day to make her faint? Lots of great twists in this one.

This is another twisty mystery from Shalini Boland. I've read several books by her and have yet to be disappointed. She's an expert at drawing you in immediately and keeping your attention until you just have to finish the book.

Thank you, Bookouture :) and NetGalley for providing this review copy.

Shalini Boland does it again; she has knocked out another fantastic read that doesn’t let up and has you hooked from the start. I don’t think I’ve read a bad book by her yet!
This is gripping right from the start where Zoe wakes up her wedding day after fainting. You know something happened but have no idea what and even when it is revealed I didn’t see it coming at all.
All the characters were really colourful and well developed. Zoe appears to be slowly losing her mind. Minimal problems and what would seem insignificant if they were stand-alone occurrences are being thrown at her. Her life seems to be falling apart.
Everything that is happening could be due to a myriad of reasons. You honestly don’t know what direction the story is going to take.
When there is a big reveal, and you find out a secret of Zoe’s, it was a bit disappointing, and I was thinking is that it, that is all she was worried about? However, then the book comes and hits you over the head with shock after shock. I couldn’t believe what I was reading, but it all made sense, and everything started to fall into place.
The ending really was superb, and I do love being taken by surprise by a book like this. I honestly thought it was going to peter out and just end; I couldn’t have been more wrong.
A fantastic Psychological Thriller and I definitely recommend it. It’s quite short too so you can really get through it fast to get the answers to everything that is happening.

Once again Shalini Boland does not disappoint! Switching from the present to 10 years in the past
the story of a marriage and how it unravels with one big twist. No spoilers here but Impromise
The Wife will keep you guessing at what really happened before the wedding.

i LOVE shalini boland, i once read three of her books in three days! So i was thrilled to get this egalley. I was so hooked all throughout trying to piece together the connecting pieces between Madeline, Zoe and Dina. The ending wasnt what i was expecting at all, and i always love the epilogue’s Shalini does, hinting at something devious and cunning and she definitely did this with this books epilogue.

Wow I really enjoyed this book and the twist is amazing. When Zoe comes to on her wedding day after supposedly fainting she has no recollection of what happened or what she was doing before it took place but does not feel right. The wedding goes ahead and ten years later as her wedding anniversary looms and she is planning a party to celebrate back where she got married strange things start happening, she keeps seeing her sister who has been missing for some time and now friends are being off with her and she doesn’t know why. What is going on and who can she trust to help her. Captivating book from start to finish.

Another stonker of a novel by Shalini! Edgy, fast paced and a real page turner. I loved it and would recommend to all!

Oh I love a new Shalini Boland - pure escapism at its finest! Zoe is planning her 10 year anniversary party at the same hotel she was married in. Although she fainted on her wedding day - and subsequently feels a piece of her is missing, she has a perfect life, perfect husband and perfect family.
Suddenly she is being ignored by close friends and bullied by an old school friend. Is there a link? And is her missing sister back in the UK and trying to make contact?
Quite the rollercoaster with the lead up to the party filled with little red herrings!
Another outstanding read.

My favourite type of book, it's fast paced and gripping and I wasn't able to leave down until I was finished. What I liked most was that almost everyone had their own secrets and while normally I hate when people talk about the twists in a, book especially at the end, this one got past me. I got this as an arc to review and would like to thank the publishers and netgalley for letting me have the book to review, the opinions expressed are entirely my own views and are completely unbiased.

On her wedding day, which was supposed to be the happiest day of her life, Zoe fainted. Even as she recovers, she feels that there is some kind of blank in her memory. But both her fiance, Toby, and his mother, Celia, assure her that she must have fainted, overcome with emotion and the marriage goes on.

Now Zoe has been happily married for ten years with two beautiful children. Toby and Zoe are planning their ten-year anniversary party for their family and friends. They’re going back to the grand hotel where they got married. But as the anniversary gets closer, it becomes clear not everyone is looking forward to celebrating.

Zoe catches Toby lying about where he’s been. Her sister in-law, Madeleine, starts to avoid her by giving her cold shoulder. And she thinks that she has seen her sister twice, a sister whom she hasn’t heard from in over ten years.

Zoe is increasingly sure that she is missing something important. But does she want to know the truth, if it will destroy everything?

This book was completely addictive from start to finish. All the characters were well written. I enjoyed all the twists in the book and never expected the last one.

The only thing I wanted more from this book was to know more about Dina. I felt that her story was left incomplete and unexplored , leaving me with more questions than answers.

But, apart from that the book was brilliant and an enjoyable read! Highly Recommended!

Thank You to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!!

An excellent thriller that is guaranteed to draw you in and never let go. The protagonist’s story is believable and keeps you fascinated until the very end.

Zoe has a perfect life, happily married with an amazing husband, charming children, and the best in-laws. She has come so far from her difficult childhood, with her mother passing away young, a distant dad, and a fractured relationship with her sister, but about a week before her 10 year wedding anniversary, things start falling apart. The Wife will keep you guessing throughout, as things from the past are revealed little by little, things that are interrupting the peaceful family life Zoe has been enjoying.

This book was a page turner, as I was sucked into Zoe's past and present, wondering what would befall her next and what had happened so many years ago on her wedding night that she couldn't remember. At about 2 am, my phone died and I was forced to postpone my reading. First thing this morning, I picked it back up, completely hooked! I recommend this book if you are looking for a quick read with interesting twists.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for supplying this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
