I have to admit, I don't often get pulled in by a book cover, but I did this time. I saw it and had to know more. Paranormal YA is right up my alley, and Everwish didn't disappoint. Vampires, witches, demons, and more. If you love the supernatural and romance, Everwish is an excellent choice.

I did feel that while the world-building was relatively great, it felt like the author was cramming in so much that it could have easily filled at least another seventy pages, if not an entire second book. The book description kept me reading, even though the beginning didn't really hook me. It wasn't until Stella met Alaric that I became truly invested in the story.

I found the storyline to be somewhat unique and compelling. In all honesty, I'm hoping there will be more books set in this universe. For some, her "engagement" while still in high school might be pushing the line a bit, but in the world Ms. Oz created, it fit well with the story. Besides, fairy tales (and certain animated movies most of us loved as kids) have been marrying off teenagers for a really, really long time.

Not only do I want to find out whether or not Stella breaks the curse and can be with Alaric, but I want to know if Lila and Murad get their happily-ever-after. Do the M&Ms get a chance to find love and happiness to soften those hard edges? And what will become of Tess? I hope I get the chance to find out!

*I received an ARC for an honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the opportunity to read Everwish.

I admit it, I was pleasantly surprised with this book. The blurb and the cover do not do it justice. The story and the characters are so compelling that I read it in one sitting.
I might have been a bit overwhelmed with all the information about this interesting new world, a lot is happening and a lot of different characters with different abilities are involved. But each one of them is lovable and interesting.
I would love to read more books in this universe and I can't wait for book 2. This first book ends in a really nice and optimistic way, even though it makes you wonder for the future. Hopefully, the next books won't disappoint.

This one ticks all the necessary YA fantasy boxes. The magic system is interesting. The setting is well done. The romance is good. Everything was paced well. It was an excellent first book in a series. It tied up all the loose knots and started fiddling with some new string at the end there. I look forward to reading the next one.

I didn't finish Everwish - and wouldn't usually give feedback or even write a review but that's what I've agreed to do and I have a lot of thoughts. The opening is incredible - captivating in all the best ways. The chapters titles are named after tarot cards which I didn't know I needed until this book. The book itself...was good, but I didn't find it gripping. I think though, that this book will be absolutely incredible for some people. When I was younger, oh my lord, I would have loved this book. At 26 though, it just didn't click. Not because it's YA, as I read mostly YA to be honest, but I think it's mostly because of the romance. A 17 year old and a 500 year old man just didn't sit right with me. The power dynamics, the age difference, it was just too much and I had to exit stage left. I'm so sorry, I think that's a me thing, rather than a reflection on the writing quality. If you like magical fantasy with true teens who feel like teens, this is the book for you.

After being orphaned as a baby, Stella grew up with mTernL grandfather Sam as her guardian. She had a paternal grandmother who was head of the Romany family but Stella did not hold a lot of love for them with the exception of her cousin Silvan who she loved like a brother.
As she neared her 18th birthday Stella meets Alaric and her life starts to change as the world as she knew it no longer existed and the people she loved including Alaric were not who she thought they were.
A great story of love, loss, change and coming into your own. Stella’s character was typical of an angst teen wanting to live her own life without too many restrictions. She had enough rebellion to be annoying at times but was overall quite likeable. Alaric was the old school male who had charm and compassion.
Although not completely a different story it had enough uniqueness to keep me turning the pages wanting to see what happens as was the twist on Sleeping Beauty. The world building was not very in-depth and there were times when I wished for more information about particular people and places. Most of the side characters were also interesting enough to want to know more about them particularly to the one that “died” and the party.

Really enjoyed this book. It is captivating and sucks you right in
The only thing I liked less is that SO much is going on it is sometimes hard to keep up. I get that things need to be introduced for the other books in this series but it was a lot at times.

I love a bit of romance in any of my YA reads and the storyline was entertaining and fast paced. Looking forward to the next book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and absolutely love that it takes place in Oregon. I'm an Oregonian living on the east coast so I was happy to read story that takes place in my home state.
I liked the character's and magic. I wish there was a little more depth/details, like with the tarot cards...where does that magic come from?

I was privileged to get an advanced copy of Everwish by Amelia Oz this week. I am always willing to try new authors, but am hesitant when it comes to fantasy novels. That being said, I have to say I was surprised. From the prologue to the very last period, I was hooked. When I first started reading the novel, I was struck by quote that was used directly before the prologue. The quote, by Georgia Douglas Johnson, really sets the tone for the remainder of the book, which helped me get into the book a little bit better than I normally would have. The prologue was an interesting way to start the story as it added to the mystery. The combination of both the quote and the prologue created a gripping entrance to this book.

Chapter 1 starts to introduce our characters, Stella, Silvan, Amanda, and Alaric. Stella, an orphan, discovers that not only is there a world that is bigger than herself, one that includes magic, but she starts to feel and experience things that she never imagined she would. Tragic grief, unending love, depression, confusion, utter elation and shocking intrigue are all emotions that I felt while reading this incredibly written novel.

One of the things that makes this novel unique is Oz’s careful and meticulous time that she spends developing each and every character in the novel. Stella is the character that you can really relate to whereas Alaric’s point of view helps with clarity in situations, Silvan and Amanda, while minor characters, are still such apart of Stella’s character that you want to care about them, through good and bad. The plot development over the course of the novel builds, almost to the point where I thought it was going to conclude, and in some way it did, but I was left wanting more.

I want to know more about Stella and Alaric.

What happens next with the Primati Witches and how far will love, hope, and mercy take our beloved characters?

I cannot wait to read the second book in the Primati Witches series by Amelia Oz.

This is a must read for lovers of fantasy, magic and romance.

Warning, potentially (probably) unpopular opinion alert.

If this didn't cover just about every trope in the YA/NA/Paranormal genre crossover pool, I'll eat my sunglasses. Which would be a shame, because it's no fun reading by the pool without them.

Ha. I'm joking. Maybe.

A big thank you, first of all, to NetGalley and to the author for an ARC of the title. An honest review was requested but not required.

There was a lot to like here; the writing was mostly smooth and the action was well paced and consistent. There was a LOT of world building going on, but with a world the size of this one I suppose it's warranted.

That was the most difficult part for me: there was A LOT going on. Just about every type of supernatural or paranormal creature that has ever been dreamed up made an appearance here, as well as almost every trope you can think of. Long awaited super special snowflake savior teenager? Check. Extra beautiful? Check. Secret powers? check. Insta love connection? check. Jealous B*s dogging her footsteps? Check. It was a LOT. I think the story would have benefited by having less characters, less different creatures, and maybe less love.

Nonetheless, I was pleased with the way the author resolved the story and I would be willing to keep reading. [I must admit I was hoping for a plot twist wherein Murad himself was draining Lila's descendants for their light/life/magic as sustenance but it seems that my bloodthirsty nature will not win today, LOL.]

I was very pleasantly surprised by this book, I requested but admit I wasn’t expecting to love this as much as I did. It’s a fantastic story, well written, full of plot twists executed well, great characters and world building. It’s a captivating story that hooks you in right from the start. I love Stella and Amanda, and Alaric too obviously , a dark and romantic read, very happy reader here.

This was a very good book.. I really hope that the author continues to write and has more books that will be published. I would buy them in a heart beat. Love the style writing and I loved the overall plot and story this book had. Really enjoyable

I really enjoyed this supernatural story that is full of twists and turns. If you enjoy a captivating novel that is filled with magic, three-dimensional characters, and a fully developed world you will not be disappointed.

I was immediately obsessed with this novel with the opening paragraph. Threatening your main character’s life in the opening paragraph is a great way to grab your reader’s attention. The main character, Stella, is cursed to die before her 21st birthday. After this threat, she discovers a world of supernatural creatures she was never aware of.

This was an inventive and fascinating way to introduce your reader to this world of characters. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel and I am excited to continue reading more about the lives of these characters. The world-building was a bit jarring to understand at first and can be seen as overwhelming to some, but I appreciate how the author dropped you into this world. You are given to moment to catch up, which can add to the tension of the main character.

Overall I enjoyed this book and I am excited to read more in the series.

Everwish by Amelia Oz was a fast-paced fantasy read. Each chapter title matches a tarot card. Stella who is the heroine is a 17-year-old artist who lost her parents at birth. She is now finding out that the women in her family are cursed and do not live past their 21st birthday.
Everwish has magic, witches, Angels, and Vampires.romance and tragedy. I was completely captured from the first page on it was well-written and entertaining. Stella was feisty and funny her friend Amanda was a practicing witch that was part of the group of witches who had been hired to protect her until she was old enough to learn about her future. It was a very enjoyable reading experience and I am looking forward to reading the sequel

Everwish follows Stella after she learns she is cursed to die before her 21st birthday, she also discovers an entire supernatural world hidden from her with links to her family history and the curse.

I really enjoyed the book; it is an entertaining and interesting read which is told from the perspective of both Stella an Alaric. I loved the characters in the book especially Stella and how she always stood up for herself and also her family. I liked the writing style of the book, Stella and Alaric were written well and I liked the focus on their emotions and feelings. I preferred the first half of the book with the focus on Stella discovering everything about the curse/Primati, the romance and her interactions with her family.

Although I found the supernatural world in the book interesting, I did feel the world building and generally how information was given a bit much – it was given all at once in chunks of information and I personally thought that there was too much supernatural creatures introduced in the book. How Stella found out about the curse and supernatural world all happened at once, it was told like a story, I just thought she discovered things way too easily. I enjoyed the plot of the first half of the book but the second half was messy, it moved very slowly and nothing really happened and it dragged on a bit. I also found the reveals in the book predictable and was disappointed with the villain reveal and the motive behind everything.

The romance I really liked, it was instant love/attraction but there was the forbidden love element to the relationship, it was built up really nicely and I liked their interactions even though the age gap is big. I preferred the romance in the first half of the book because of the pace and the plotline and I did feel like it moved way too quickly in the second half. I still find them cute together and love how Stella is not afraid to speak up about her feelings, but I preferred their relationship when it moved slowly.

Although I have mixed feelings on the book, as a whole it was an enjoyable read and I would read the next book.

3/5

I received an ARC of this book and have reviewed it honestly.

A dark and sexy supernatural tale that will captive any supernatural and paranormal romance reader. Well written, with multiple points of view and an enchanting storyline.

I really enjoyed the inventiveness of this story and the beautiful imagery that the author created. At times I felt a little lost, and the plot seemed a little choppy and full of characters and plot points that didn't make many appearances post-introduction. Stella's emotions felt pretty mercurial as well, though that may very well just be part of her character's charm. While I'm not a huge fan of the insta-love trope, this book definitely did it better than others. I'm looking forward to reading the next installment and am hoping that it addresses a lot of the loose ends this book left (SPOILERS: what happened to Thomas's secret grove area? Why was Stella's uncle there? What was with the mermaids? Are unicorns real too in this world? Werewolves? How did Murad not know that Ela was there? Does Murad actually like Stella? Will Stella procreate and fulfill the curse? So. Many. Questions. END SPOILER). Would definitely recommend to fans of paranormal romance.

17 year old Stella Avery is cursed. All of the women in her family have fallen in love, married young, had a daughter and then been killed with their husbands. No-one has survived beyond the age of 21.

Alaric, Primati Enforcer and half-angel/half-demon is instructed by his half-brother, the Vampire King, to protect Stella as he intends to take her as his wife in a bid to end the curse. His job sees him working with the witches of Portland and Stella's Romany Family to protect her. When he meets Stella face to face something changes and he finds himself torn between loyalty to his brother and his feelings for Stella, especially knowing that her falling in love could trigger the curse and end them both.

This is a fantastic book. It is full of Vampires, Wraiths, Witches, Mermaids, Shades, Angels and Demons. The writing is fantastic and has you guessing right until the very end. Woven throughout the action packed story is a wonderful love story that makes you truly hope for a happy ending.

I cannot wait for the next installment of the series.

When Stella is a baby, both of her parents are killed in a car crash. This is because of a curse on the women of her family that causes them, and the person they love, to die before their 21st birthday. After the crash, Stella is eventually found and adopted by her grandfather who raises her into adulthood. What Stella doesn't kno is that many of the people around her are not who they seem and she will soon be running for her life. As Stella is finding out the truth about her family and herself, she meets a man named Alaric who she asks to protect her from the curse. He agrees

I really enjoyed the relationship development between Alaric and Stella. They work together to overcome adversity and Alaric helps guide her through difficult situations and difficult emotions. He also has to face the conflict of doing what he thinks is right for Stella vs. what he wants for himself.

The character development in this story was very well done. Oz was able to construct a world of different warring supernatural beings who all have their own stories and motivations. The ending was definitely a surprise I didn't see coming.

I LOVED this book! It was interesting how each chapter is titled after a tarot card and I was halfway through (read this in two days) before realizing that the plot matched the tarot card name for each chapter. This is a story within a story. Without spoilers, the original love story is more of a love triangle with repercussions in Stella's modern timeline. Stella is a gutsy character but lonely despite not realising it. She is a 17 year old who loves Radiohead but meets her soulmate in a 500 year old, judgemental hottie. I really felt her friendship with Amanda. I liked learning more about Ottoman history and enjoyed the diverse characters from different faiths and backgrounds. Lots of twists and a couple of great antagonists. Her Romany cousin Mira is one of the funniest characters and someone I would love to be friends with in real life-but with one eye open. Now for Alaric. He is the second POV in the story and I am in love. He is an angel vampire hybrid who is cold as ice in carrying out his calling but can't resist Stella, who tears down his walls and makes him see the world is not so black and white. Everyone in the known universe is afraid of him but Stella is fearless. The world build was amazing. It was funny to learn that witches can't resist completing rhymes.. I can't wait to learn more about the Primati (loved the appearance of mermaids!) and characters in the next book. This is a great read I would recommend.
