Continuing my binge of Paranormal and Vampire books, Everwish sounded right up my alley. Everwish is an interesting read but it doesn't really bring anything new to the table. Depending on what you're looking for, that's not a bad thing. I read it in two days. Perfect for a rainy day. I'm not sure yet if I will pick up the sequel.

I got this book as an ARC from NetGalley, it’s about a young girl who finds out that the normal world she lives in isn’t as normal as it seems, she’s surrounded by witches and other supernatural creatures and she faces a curse that could kill her.

This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and I already can’t wait for the next one! There’s a lot that goes on in the story and I had to read it in one sitting, it’s riveting. I loved the supernatural world that was created and there’s a lot of intrigue as well, the characters really keep you guessing as to their intentions and there are plenty of surprises as the story unfolds. If you like supernatural stories then this is a book I highly recommend adding to your reading list.

Everwish grabbed me from the first page, as it immediately plunged me, literally, into the characters and the presence of another world. I found the forever-living ancestors of the main character, Stella, the product of a fresh and clever imagination, as they and their web of human followers desperately protect her from a tragic curse. Ms. Oz captures the words and ways of her teen-aged characters intimately and with ease, which made the reading fun and sometimes hilarious (I have teen-aged children). The author captures the innocent and sometimes painful striving of a 16-year-old girl to express attraction and love. Stella is a complex, angst-ridden protagonist caught up in a future she only gradually comes to understand.. Clever twists caught me unawares. I've sometimes been disappointed with fantasy, but the world Ms. Oz creates is fascinating and completely developed. I'm looking forward to the second book in the series, as the author sprinkles a number of tantalizing glimpses into where the plot may be heading.. Well worth the read! I'm a fan!

Interesting characters and plot. Easy to get engaged in. Quick read. Has love triangle, deception, friendship and family issues as well as supernatural fairytale twist. Looking forward to see what happens in the next book.

"The mark on my chest and the scars on my hands were a reminder that I had survived a fate worse than death--immortal damnation as a vampire demon with angelic strength."

If you enjoy fairytale retellings, with a YA fantasy twist, this book is for you. There were a few cliches and a few predictable moments but overall I think this was a easy, and interesting read. This story had Witches, Vampires, a mysterious plot and very likable characters. A heavy dose of insta-love but I felt like it was well done and I liked how even Stella was confused and annoyed by her instant need for Alaric. I think its a great start to the beginning of a awesome series!

3.5/5 stars!
