3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is a story about heaven and hell, love and hate, revenge and forgiveness, and good old hard-core sex. The sex takes up most of the book and is highly descriptive so be prepared and it’s centers around whatever portrait or painting they are trying to emulate in there lovemaking. Lord Arthur agrees to pay off his brother’s debt to The Pearl Hotel (a/k/a brothel) by giving the owner, Regan, 10 nights of sex to be solely at her request and with her dominating the “action.” It’s hard to see how this is a terrible penalty for any man to hook-up with a beautiful woman satisfying her every need and wish. I had a couple of issues which were that every scene was a lead up to mass of the details of their outlandish and highly sexual behavior. I lost track of how many times he regretted having a hard on when Lord Arthur felt he should be repulsed by her behavior. In the end, I think I just didn’t care for either character very much and I didn’t get the chemistry. It may just be me.

Tiffany Reisz always writes a compelling steamy romance with characters that I want to keep reading about and The Pearl is no different. Looped into the world of The Red and The Rose, it is similarly graphic in sex scenes but has a strong minded female character leading the plot, so personally I enjoyed this for what it is – a light hearted read that builds on the Godwicks’ world further, but readers don’t need to have read the other books previously to follow along with this one.

The Pearl

Set in the modern day England, Lord Arthur Godwick, a 21-year-old rich heir finds himself in an awkward situation when he makes a deal with a much older, widowed stranger in order to save his younger, vagrant 'spare' brother from trouble. The more he gets involved, the more curious he gets as to why someone would make such a deal with him. Revenge? Fantasy? What is it?

The Pearl is a light-hearted romance read that could set the temperature quite high. It deals with some unconventional desire fantasies, and I think that is pretty much the unique selling point of this book. Overall, the book is more or less predictable with occasional wittiness that can cause some chuckles, but it does not offer any more substance than that. The steamy scenes are toned down and mellow in some parts, but there are some really creative scenes that will get you going. The protagonists (Arthur and Regan) are quite interesting, but Regan's character offers more depth than the quintessential rich boy in Arthur. Lord Malcolm's shenanigans will definitely make you smile. Save for the savior complex cliché that the author plays with, there's nothing to not like in the book. It is a great casual book to read in between intense, mind-shattering books. However, as far as romance books go, it does fall a little short in chemistry as the relationship between the two protagonists is never too intense as it is stable and predictable.

The Pearl
I think you need the first two books to read before getting into the third.
King Arthur is doing some deed to get something important back to him. He needs to do this for Charlie right. Regan
Charlie is pulling some strings
The sex oh the sex is something you dream of. Very lovely book

Set in modern-day England but possessing all the lavish, artistic flair of a historical fiction novel (with some supernatural occurrences thrown in for good measure), The Pearl is probably one of the weirdest books I've read in recent memory.

Through the fault of his irresponsible younger brother, 21-year-old Lord Arthur Godwick must pay a debt incurred under his family's noble name. This debt is owed to Regan Ferry, a woman who is as beautiful as she is mysterious. The problem? Regan doesn't want money. She wants Arthur. Ten nights in bed with him, to be exact.

I've been reading gay, smutty fanfiction since high school, but I don't think I've ever formally read a book of erotica before. I thought erotica would be like porn: decently to well-executed sex but terrible dialogue, but I was pleasantly surprised to read the witty, flirtatious conversations between Arthur and Regan.

Sex? Check. There are some sex scenes involving a certain pearl necklace that rival the inventive intimacy of Call Me By Your Name's infamous peach scene. Regan isn't exactly a dominatrix, but she definitely relishes her ownership of Arthur (which he also enjoys). I only cringed once at the description, which, to be fair, took place during a dream, of a certain man's genitals as "big as another man's forearm," which sounds anatomically painful for both the owner of the genitals and the woman trying to have sex with him.

Intrigue? Check. Regan has a secret family history that's lighting her pursuit of Arthur. She also has a pet raven named Gloom. This intrigue, though, comes to create a barrier between the reader and our guarded protagonists that never falls away. It's difficult to buy into the romance between Arthur and Regan when we hardly understand them as characters by themselves.

The Pearl has the makings of a captivating story, but later in the novel, things start to get strange. Even though The Pearl might be (very) loosely categorized as a work of magical realism, this label doesn't feel like enough to explain some of the book's bizarre plot points.

While I raced through Part I of the book, my reading slowed down when I hit the first of many confusing and slightly excessive twists at the beginning of Part II.

Did this book make me care about straight people? It almost did.

Recommended for fans of sexy romance books that only read the sex scenes

Tiffany Reisz is one of my more enjoyable Erotic authors and The Pearl does not disappoint. The book is full of debauchery, intrigue and engaging dialogue. So if you are looking for a well written story that is sexier than a typical Romance book The Pearl series is a great place to start.

The Pearl is the third book in Tiffany Reisz's "The Godwick's" series. It's the story of Arthur Godwick, the great-grandson of Malcolm Godwick, and Reagan Ferry, the owner of The Pearl Hotel. They meet as the result of Arthur's younger brother owing money to the Pearl for his gambling and whoring. Reagan requests payment in the form of a painting of Malcolm Godwick, one of the most notorious patrons of The Pearl from its heyday. The portrait is a sentimental family favorite that the family won't party with so Arthur offers himself up in exchange. What follows is Reagan trying to exact her revenge on the Godwick's by making Arthur become her sub.

What follows are commanded visits from Arthur at Reagan's whim. She treats him as a sub, which he enjoys. Through the visits, we find out that Reagan, a widow, married out of financial necessity and gave up her artistic studies. She blames the Godwick's for her financial woes because of the way Arthur's grandfather had treated her mother when she requested her help. We also learn about Arthur's brotherly troubles and why he feels the need to always be at his brother's aid.

I loved "The Red" for its originality and its fantastical elements. "The Pearl" tries to revisit some of the elements that made "The Red" so fascinating and to me, it falls short of the mark. Where "The Red" reimagined art and "The Rose" carved its own unique path by its reimagining myth, "The Pearl" brought nothing new to the party. I was disappointed. I read the first two parts, set the book down for a few weeks, and just finished it so I could write this review.

The book isn't bad. As with all of Reisz's books, it's well written and engaging and the characters are fleshed out, no pun intended. I think I went into the book with too high of expectations. This installment of "The Godwick's" series just didn't do it for me, but it's not going to stop me from reading the next book or the one after that.

This book was about what I expected. It was not my first Tiffany Reisz book and won't be my last, but I felt like the story was lacking a little to give more time to the sex scenes. I liked the characters, but I wanted more, especially from Arthur.

* I received this book for free from 8th Circle Press and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review *

When Arthur’s younger brother Charlie runs up a massive debt at The Pearl Hotel, Arthur agrees to work of the debt himself. After a few weeks of work, Arthur begins to fall for The Pearl’s owner, Regan, and attempts to uncover the secret behind her emotional distance.

This book is a steamy romance with a sweet conclusion that leaves everyone satisfied. But, about three quarters into the story it is revealed that the romantic leads of the story are 2nd cousins. They move past the revelation and are able to continue their romance but as a reader, I found it unsettling and struggled to continue reading.

The writing itself is solid and immersive. The pacing for the romance and the book as a whole is very well done, and every emotional reveal helps further the plot rather than weighing it down.

Tiffany Reisz is a one click autonatic for me.  I have read everything she's written and always want more.

This is the third book in the installment of The Red.  (Which was my favourite) Arthur and Regan were an entertaining couple to read about.  I adore the wat Tiffany tells a story.  The characters are more than that, they are real in your mind while you read her words.

I love how reading this art, took me to google the actual art mentioned in the story.  Alot of authors have a play list of music, not Tiffany for this one, its a painting list.  All of which were quite beautiful to the eye and in Tiffanys description.

The story of Arthur and Regan is intriguing, sexy, erotic with classic Tiffany wise cracks, and a Tiffany twist.   Oh yeah and throw in Lord Malcolm's ghost for the win!! Zoot's character was classic Tiffany, I loved her.

I look forward to more of Tiffanys stories, she always grabs me and pulls me in.

I received an ARC of this book on Netgalley in exchange for my review!

This was more spicy than expected, but an easy trashy read. #3 in a series, but readable without #1 and 2. The characters aren't super well developed, and falls back on the "we can solve all our problems with sex" trope every few pages.

Steamy with enough plot to keep you turning pages. I enjoyed this even more than I thought I would and look forward to reading more by this author.

I read The Red a few weeks ago and found it super fun and sexy and a little suspenseful. I enjoyed it enough that I was thrilled to get to read this, despite missing the second book in this series. I think it’s useful to read them in order but this worked well as my second read in the series. It was not quite as over the top sexy for me as The Red, but it was delightful and more romantic. Recommended for light erotica readers! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for this unbiased review.

I so wanted to enjoy this book. I know that this author is a preeminent write in the erotic romance genre. I have read a few of her books but have not fond one that I really loved. Perhaps she is just not for me.

For me, the biggest issue with this book is that I felt no chemistry. Neither character is particularly likeable and the storyline felt silly to me. I was also a little off put by the familial connection. It is well written but it is not for me.

Whew! I was really looking forward to this one once I realized it was the aristocracy set in modern times, but it wasn't quite what I expected. I liked the powerful "older" woman/younger man dynamic but I'm afraid the narrative was a little too all over the place for me to really enjoy. It seemed to be multiple stories at once and the paranormal aspect felt a little too forced to feel organic. While I will certainly never look at a strand of pearls the same way again (super hot!), I was ready for this one to be done.

Absolutely LOVED the latest in this series!! I thought it was interesting to have the male be more of the submissive one (though he could definitely throw down). I loved being given bits and pieces of the past as we moved through the book. I felt like the family reveal towards the end wasn't really needed but it didn't take anything away for me. Omg I nearly SCREAMED when the two people got on the elevator at the end. Leaving the door open for one more book in the series I hope?!?!

I requested The Pearl by Tiffany Reisz on NetGalley without reading the first two books in the series but I will be going back to read them. I don’t feel that you had to read the earlier books to enjoy this foray into the Godwicks family.

Charlie Godwin owes The Pearl hotel one hundred thousand dollars or a beloved family painting. Regan Ferry will accept his brother, Lord Arthur Godwick, as her submissive play thing instead. What starts as a trade becomes more when the ghost of great-grandfather Godwick begins haunting the couple.

I enjoyed the older woman, younger man trope. I liked that Arthur had to embrace his submissive side but he only could with Regan. The Pearl was full of super sexy scenes, from Arthur’s submissiveness to toys to dirty talk, I was here for the sexy moments.

There was a strong paranormal presence, lots of talk of art and reference to Poe. I could suspend reality to embrace the ghost of great grandfather Malcom, pushing his descendants to find happiness. There were lots of references to art work, which I know nothing about but Reisz did a great job explaining how the art impacted Arthur or Regan.

What I thought was going to be a steamy, erotic read was that but also mysterious and captivating enough for me to dive into the her backlist.

Strong erotic novel filled with snarky humor etc., but the inclusion of the supernatural aspects/scenes took me right out.

This is the third book in this series by this author. This book can be read as a stand alone read. This is the erotic story of Arthur and Regan. This book will take you on a journey of submission, erotic, self discovery and emotions. This story pulls you in from the first page and keeps you captivated till the very last one. This author is amazing at writing erotic romance reads that are gripping and emotional.

I was given an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
