This is the first book I have read by this author, and as it is the first in a new series, I am certainly looking forward to reading this authors future releases.
The story has a great pace and enough suspense to keep you wanting to read more and eager to reach the plots conclusion.
A thoroughly enjoyable read.

The first book I have read by this author and the first book in a series. An enjoyable read and a great start to a series in which the main characters storylines can develop. A little bit slushy in parts for me but otherwise a good read will definitely read more in this series

Hidden begins with a woman jogging in a park and then getting stabbed to death. The problem is that the victim, Dana Smith, doesn't really exist. She has no friends, no family, and no traceable background. Her employer, a doctor who hired her as a nanny, doesn't know anything more about her than what the cops can find.
Our hero, Jacob Merritt is a homicide detective. He and his partner, Kendra Porter, are assigned to find out what happened to Ms. Smith. The clues lead them to a dead end. Our heroine, Bailey Rhoads, is a crime reporter with the local newspaper who is desperately trying to find a story big enough that will keep her employed. When she discovers that Dana Porter didn’t really exist, she knows she is on to something big. Bailey finds out that the victim was actually in the Federal Witness Protection program which makes it nearly impossible to trace. Because of this information, the case is taken away from the police and turned over to the FBI. However, Bailey continues to hunt for any clues. Jacob won’t let this case go and searches for answers on his own.

This is the first book in a new series by the Author .

When a jogger is found murdered on her morning run, crime reporter Bailey Rhoads and Austin detective Jacob Merritt are thrown together - although the victim is finally identified she appears to have no past !
The spark between the two is set on a bumpy road with Bailey refusing to disclose her sources and Jacob refusing to share details of the case . Whilst Bailey's investigation takes her into the Hi Tech world of data storage ,,,,,,,,,,, some of which has been obtained by illegal means , Jacob finds himself working on the case on his own time - the FBI have taken over the case and do not seem to be taking steps to find the killer .
With another victim in the killer's sight it is only by working together that they might stop another tradgedy ......... but at what cost to Bailey and her sources .

This is yet another excellent start to a new series by the Author - a fast paced murder mystery, romance with lots of twists and turns which I thoroughly enjoyed

I was given an arc of the book by NetGalley and the Publisher in exchange for an honest review .

I am a huge fan of Ms Griffins Tracers series set around a forensics lab in Texas - so it is a no brainer for me that when a new series is announced I am going to be there.

This series is again set in Texas where Ms Griffin resides and the opening of the book packs a punch with the murder of a young woman. The problems begin when they are unable to identify her - yes they have a name of a person but she doesn't exist and they are unable to find family, friends or any background on her at all.

Bailey Rhoades is a crime reporter with the local newspaper, Jacob Meritt is the homicide detective assigned to the case. One would think this was not going to be a match made in heaven with Bailey refusing to disclose her sources and Jacob refusing to share details of the case but Ms Griffin makes it work - and kudos to her for putting two dedicated professional people together whose professions are at odds with each other. This creates a little push and pull between the characters and their romance.

I really enjoyed the book, the mystery and suspense just dragged me in and there were nice twists and red herrings along the way. The characterisation was good - the only niggle that I have is that the romance was a little on the light side. However, it was a good start to a new series and we got a little sequel bait with a couple of the secondary characters.

Hidden is the first instalment in The Texas Murder Files series and it's certainly a promising start. I didn't initially realise this was romantic suspense and if I had known I likely wouldn't have read it but it turned out to be serendipitous as it was much more about the investigation whilst the romance took somewhat of a backseat. When a jogger is found murdered on her morning run, crime reporter Bailey Rhoads and Austin detective Jacob Merritt are thrown together in a fit of circumstance. At first, Jacob is irked by Bailey's attempts to gain further information about the killing in the way police often are when dealing with journalists, but soon they join forces when they realise two heads are better than one in a complex case where nothing adds up; the ability to turn to the press gives a Jacob a way to get the word out about the situation including appealing for witnesses. With no ID and no missing person having been reported in the area matching the victim's description the odd but effective partnership discover and chase down leads to reveal the woman's identity, who brutally murdered her and their motivation.

This is a solid and well-plotted work of romantic suspense which brings together the two central characters in a lusty tryst when in fact usually detectives and newspaper reporters at the scene of a crime are at loggerheads. Although some of the relationship between them seemed a little too contrived I still found it added an interesting dynamic to the whole story. I also skipped past the sex scenes as they don't float my boat. Amidst the cultivation of this seedling relationship is an interesting tension as a Jacob is unable to tell her everything he has found in the police investigation and in order to protect her sources Bailey does not share her findings with her new beau either. It is a fast-paced, addictive read with enough going on to sink your teeth into with a compulsive plot, a romance developing between the two protagonists, and ample twists and turns. Bailey is an intrepid journalist who has no issue putting in the hard work to get an exclusive story and Jacob is a dogged detective whose focus is very much on gaining justice for the victim. A quick, easy read. Many thanks to Headline Eternal for an ARC.

A fantastic read that had me hooked from the first page!

I especially loved the investigative parts which discussed the crime scene, autopsy report etc. It all felt very real and I loved the dialogue between Jacob and Kendra. It felt like a proper crime drama and I was completely absorbed, desperate to know who had done it.

This may be a thriller on the face of things, with the suspense and chase of it all, but woven between all of this is a beautiful romance between Bailey and Jacob. From when they first meet you know there is a spark between them and in my head I was shouting “He likes you! Just get together already!” Plus lets not forget that Jacob is completely swoon worthy!

The romance is a lovely theme running through it but the suspense of the actual thriller, especially at one point when Bailey is at Granite Tech, definitely had me on the edge of my seat. That one chapter really did leave me feeling uneasy. The way it detailed the feeling of being watched and chased really scared me.

I also really liked the parts regarding the gathering of peoples data and their identities. Data leaks and hacking are definitely things that are happening right now and it left an uneasy feeling in my stomach at how easy it was to track someone down.

Overall if you’re looking for a gripping thriller mixed with a budding romance then this is the book for you!

This book is both a thriller and a romance which made it quick and enjoyable to read. I wanted to find out who the killer was and also whether the two main characters would get together!
Bailey is an investigative reporter working the crime beat and when a morning jogger is murdered, she begins to investigate with a view to writing a story. Meanwhile Jacob the lead detective is also working the case and when he crosses swords with Bailey sparks really fly.
I liked the fact that Bailey was so intrepid- she won’t give up until she has solved the case . The victim is not who she seems and her identity will crack the story wide open. Jacob and Bailey begin to work together but Bailey has to protect her sources and Jacob cannot tell her everything despite his growing romantic attraction to her.
Rolled up in the plot is the use or misuse of some very up to date technology which leads to ethical questions about how this data can be used.
The book definitely had me on the edge of my seat and I wondered at the end whether it might be the first in a series as I’d love to find out more about Bailey and Jacob.
Five stars from me and a promise to myself to look out for more books by this author.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my arc in exchange for an honest review.
