*I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to Headline and Lizzie Shane.*

The Twelve Dogs of Christmas is a cosy festive read which is sure to warm your heart. Taking place in Pine Hollow the story is about a dog shelter located in a small town which has been set for closure by the council. Focusing on two perspectives, Ben and Ally, the story takes place in the lead up to Christmas. Councilman Ben, who isn’t the big fan of dogs, decides to help Ally with the adoption of the dogs as being the deciding vote he feels that he responsible for the shelter closing.

Along the way you meet all twelve dogs and you honestly can’t help but fall in love with each one yourself. This can also be said for our main characters. I honestly did not think I would like Ben as he seems to be very anti-dog and anti-Christmas. However over time as he warms to the festive season you find yourself warming up to him as well.

I really enjoyed this book. At the time of reading, I was really in a slump with books and I just was not looking forward to reading anything. This book changed that. The further that I got into the book the more I was looking forward to continuing. I was so invested in the lives of the characters and the dogs that I did not want to put the book down until I was sure that everything would work out.

You can’t help but feel all warm and fuzzy inside when reading this book. The quirky characters and small-town community was exactly what I needed. It has made me really want to live in a small town with a beautiful landscape where Christmas events are happening every other day.

If you are looking for a heartwarming and festive read then I definitely suggest you pick up The Twelve Dogs of Christmas.

An absolutely brilliant read by author, Lizzie Shane. To get you in the Christmas mood together with the addition of dogs with personality this brings together people who feel they will never be able to care again. Broken hearts and hidden fears that only Christmas can resolve. So put your feet up and enjoy this unputdownable read.

What an absolutely gorgeous gem of a book. This book is literally a perfect bundle of happiness and warmth packaged with a truly beautiful cover.

There is absolutely nothing negative which can be said about this book. It is heartwarming and has definitely improved my mood. This has been a perfect read from start to finish.

I have adored the author’s writing style, I have felt as though I have been right there with the characters watching the events play out.

There is absolutely no reason not to adore this book. It’s filled with Christmas, beautiful setting, likeable characters and I have wanted to adopt and rescue all the dogs.

I have adored Ally, she is a fabulous main character. I have been hoping for something to happen between her and Ben from quite early on.

I am definitely in a Christmas mood after this gorgeous book. I have been a converted as a fan of the author from this book. A definite five star read which I highly recommend.

So The Twelve Dogs of Christmas is my first Christmas read of 2020! And it was a banger to start the season with.  All the other Christmassy books have a lot to live up to!

From page one I felt like I was in the middle of the Christmas season taking part in all the amazing activities. I really felt like I was part of the Pine Hollow community. And all the dogs were super cute, I could not decide who was my favourite doggo. Whether it was tiny Papillon or drooly Harry, I wanted to adopt them all.

I loved Ben and Ally's relationship which at the beggining is on to a rocky start as Ally accidently spills coffee over  Ben's nice shirt. Added to that, Ally is helping her grandparents with their dog shelter and it is down to Ben to decide the future of the shelter. Will his and Ally's relationship help the matter or hinder it? The only way to find out is to read the book! :)

It's the season for wrapping up warm, with a hot chocolate in one hand and a good book in another. And The Twelve Dogs of Christmas is one of those books! I cannot wait for the next book in the series and hopefully get to experience Pine Hollow in a warmer season!

Absolutely loved this book!! The story revolves round two of my favourite things...dogs and Christmas. The human characters woven into it were all extremely likeable and I became very invested in what happened to them. Ben and Ally both have backstories which is evident from the beginning but unlike a lot of “will they won’t they” romance stories, it’s doesn’t dominate or take anything away from the present. Definitely a new favourite for the Christmas season.

I’m so glad I have this book well excited I have this book it a very good story line about pine hallow offers everything ally Gilmore could wish for in a Holliday break gently falling snow in a charming small town and time with her family. That is until she learns grinch has stopped the funding for her family rescue shelter leaving her with only four weeks to find new homes for a dozen dogs but when she confronts her Scroogey councilman nemesis ally finds her far more reasonable and handsome than she ever expected.
My Review
I was so nervous reading this book I was hoping all the dogs did get rescued has I have a bulldog my self I really like the bulldog he was my favourite I’m luckily mine don’t drule every wear. I didn’t like Ben in the beginning the only reason was because he was the bad guy in the book but has the book went on you got two like Ben he would try and get two know the dogs and help out in the shelter he seemed two be a nice guy in the end. I love ally character so strong determined two help her grandparents with the shelter and the dogs Ben doesn’t want two close the shelter the money needed for the community centre and there just not enough two go round he does offer help with ally two help her with the dogs. I like how Ben and ally character start two blossom in way they friends they hate each other first then becomes friends later on the book and Ben not all Scrooge after all.
This is my first book two read by Lizzie Shane and I hope I get two read more it’s a nice Christmas fluffy read you enjoy I’m an animal lover as well I will cherish this book and read it every Christmas such a good story.

Pine Hollow is the gorgeous, picture perfect little town in Vermont with residents who love where they live. And Ben West has the toughest job of keeping the town to its perfection. The residents, although never understand when Ben has to say NO to their appeals because Ben is the man with the society who fund for the town maintenance. So, when the budget cuts hit, Ben has no other way than to shut the dog shelter in the town, knowing very well that he's going to receive more stares than usual from the residents.

What he did not expect is the fast and furious Ally walking into him, trying to see the worst from the most talked about Scrooge of the town. The two hit a bumpy start, but eventually try to cool it off as Ben starts helping Ally with her Dog shelter. Also, Ben has his adorable yet stubborn niece who wouldn't let him sleep without getting herself a pet dog.

So, Christmas themed books are already here and I'm feeling festive reading them. What a pleasure. Wow, The Twelve Dogs of Christmas was a cute and cosy small town romance which has a wonderful community and I loved every single character and all of the dogs. Additionally if you're a dog lover, then you MUST add this to your TBR. I'm sure you won't regret it.

Dear Santa,

I've been a very good girl this year, so please can you make it so that I can live in Pine Hollow and adopt as many of those twelve dogs of Christmas as possible.

I promise to love and play with them, and give them loads of attention. I absolutely adore all of them , even Partridge with his drool, and Harry's escape artist tendencies are fabulous. And the little Papillon is adorable.

And the community in Pine Hollow just sounds so lovely, I have forgotten how much I enjoy reading books se in small American towns, and this one seems like the perfect place to live. There is a real sense of community and they even have their own Scooge-esque character.

Although I suppose Ben West isn't really scroogey at all, he just doesn't know how to let people in, and he is doing his best for his niece Astrid, who he has been sole guardian of for the past two years. And Astrid is a fabulous 10 year old, she is dog obsessed and well if she can help out at Furry Friends then why can't I?

You see Santa, this is a book which really gets Christmas with its various town activities which I could picture oh so clearly, and really felt as though I was there already, instead of sitting an ocean away. I couldn't stop smiling from the first few pages until the last as I read this wonderful story.

Or, if transporting me to be a part of Pine Hollow and to play with the dogs isn't quite what you had in mind for me this year, then my second Christmas wish would be for this to transformed into a Hallmark Movie, as it has all the makings of a Christmas classic, and would be sure to warm the hardest of hearts.

With love, your biggest fan, and someone who knows for sure that you are real!
Rachel

PS. In preparation that this may not happen, can you just fast forward my life a few months, to cut down on the waiting time for the next book in the Pine Hollow series, I already can't wait for my return visit.

Thank you to Headline Eternal and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily,

Lovely lighthearted romance featuring twelve dogs and two adults, Ally and Ben, for whom the path to coupledom should be straightforward; but they sometimes act more daft and obstinate than the dogs when it comes to putting romance first in their lives!
When Ben feels guilty about having had the casting vote to cut the council funding for the dog shelter, he aims to help find homes for the remaining dogs in time for Christmas. Hence, the beginning of what could be a close working relationship between Ben and Ally. But with such a tricky start and two people with different agendas and difficulty communicating, will a romance ever get off of the ground? Could their friendship blossom into a romance? Or would they be barking mad to even try?
Lots of laughs, fun and feel good Christmas cheer in this great romance novel.

This is such an utterly charming book. I have honestly got such a big grin on my face right now.

If you’re looking for the perfect read to get you in the Christmas spirit, then I would suggest picking up this book because The Twelve Dogs of Christmas will give you all the warm Christmas fuzzy feelings.

I loved the way Lizzie Shane dealt with grief over the loss of a loved one in this book. It’s so hard sometimes, especially during the holidays, but the way she wrote about Ben and his niece reminiscing over both the good and the bad was heart-warming.

Ally is such a strong heroine, she’s been looking for a place to belong but she feels left out in Pine Hollow, where everyone knows everyone else. She’s still determined to help though, and resolves to save the dog shelter by any means necessary. Also her concern over her grandparents was so lovely.

This book has aaaall the Christmas festivities you could want in a this type of book, it’s just a really cosy, easy read that is perfect for the holiday season.

Lastly, it’s a book about twelve dogs. I mean, what’s not to love ? From Partridge, the drooler, to Harry, the mischievous escape artist, they all have their own brilliant personalities and it was so fun to read about them.

If you like small town books, you’ll love this one. There’s gossip, there’s everyone being everyone else’s business, but also there’s the sense of community you can only get in a small book romance. I can’t wait to get back to Pine Hollow and read more about its residents! Bring on Deenie and Connor’s book ❤️

And well if you’re in the mood for a holiday book full of joy and festive feels, with an adorable love story and even more adorable mascots, then you can’t go wrong with The Twelve Dogs of Christmas!

Dogs, Christmas and Romance, is this the perfect winter read, it’s a definite front runner for this year. The dogs are heavily featured so that’s a great start, the romance is adorable, it’s Christmassy but not overly so. Such a lovely community feel too, grab a hot drink, snuggle up and get read to feel happy, this book will warm your heart.

Although based at Christmas this book could be read at any time of the year. This is a story of romance, family and of course the dogs. I am giving this 4 stars but still recommend it.

The story of Ally and Ben. She is trying to rehome dogs in time for christmas, after Ben is responsible for cutting the funding and causing the animal shelter to close.

A great read, looking forward to the rest of the series!

I really enjoyed this Christmassy romance book. The plot was lighthearted and I loved the fact that dogs were so heavily involved. The relationship between Ally and Ben was full of ups and downs and I struggled to put the book down. This was my first book by this author and definitely won’t be my last. I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a lighthearted bit of Christmassy escapism.

The Twelve Dogs of Christmas - Lizzie Shane

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for a fair review thanks to Headline and Netgalley.

Ally Gilmore is visiting her grandparents in Pine Hollow for the holidays when she learns that the local council are cutting funding for the local Animal shelter. Ben West feels guilty about being the deciding vote in the cutting of the funds and unexpectedly offers to help Ally find new homes for the remaining 12 dogs at Furry Friends.

Ben and Ally don’t get off to the best of starts, but very quickly become friends.

Lizzie Shane has done a very good job in creating a small town when you can really connect with all of the characters.

This really is a book that will get you in the Christmas spirit right from the start, as it centres around small town festivities. I can see myself reading this book again curled up in a blanket in front of a fire with the Christmas tree lit up.

Rating: 5/5
This is the first book in the Pine Hollow series and I am looking forward to reading the next book when it is released.
