Jack Tate, currently of MI6 and former SAS, is embroiled in a conspiracy to bring America to a standstill while on vacation in this fast moving thriller. Unknown to Jack his brother, a UK diplomat is a secondary target of the terror group's leader, a man who has his own vendetta against Jack's entire family.

My type of genre, must admit but Jack Tate fits in well with those of the great ex-forces heros that we have come to love.
It is a pacy read and is certainly full of action all the way through.
An interesting, original take on a terror threat of sorts and a very personal reason behind beating the bad guys all adds up to a high octane thriller.
Read this in two days so it must have held my attention throughout.

Readers hit the ground running with this book from Alex Shaw, featuring Jack Tate who is ex-SAS, and now MI6 who gets caught up in a plot to bring down the White House by Blackline's co-owners and their team of Russian ex-Military.

Tate is meant to be taking time off to recuperate whilst holidaying in Camden, USA, finishing off with a visit to Hunter, his brother, a British diplomat based in Washington but he becomes embroiled in a race against the clock to stop Blackline and ultimately its owners, of bringing down the US Government. Little does he know that Hunter has been kidnapped by Blackline's Russian co-owner, who has an agenda of his own and a debt to be paid.

With help from Washington Police detective, Jon Chang, will Tate manage to save the day?

I couldn't put this down and the adrenaline, just like Tate's, kept me reading on 'til the end.

Move over Jack Bauer, Tate's in town!

Thank you to Netgalley and HQ Digital for sharing this action-packed eARC.

PS On looking for other Alex Shaw books, I came across reviews for "Blackline" and "Redline" both by Alex Shaw and published in 2015 and 2016 by Kindle Worlds, an Amazon company no longer in business.

From reading the descriptions, these seem to be, in my opinion, very similar and read like two halves of "Blackout".

This is an intriguing story, carefully researched and told so convincingly it is hard to believe it is fiction. Jack Tate is meant to be visiting the USA on a break from the stress of his work and to catch up with his adopted brother. Seeing dodgy Russians at the inn he stays in in Maine starts a roller coaster of events. A magnetic pulse is released to destroy all the country’s communication systems. Even it’s vehicles are unable to move. Then there is the extra layer of political assassinations. The book is rich in detail and builds momentum page by page. It has all the elements of a successful film! I recommend it.

This is the first Alex Shaw book I have read. I hope he writes more!

His hero, Joe Tate, is minding his own business on a US road trip when he is pulled over for a crime he did not commit. This pushes him into the middle of a major terrorist plot, and he has to use his wits, his special ops experience as a former SAS trooper, and his formidable fighting skills to stay alive.

This is the type of book that makes the reader keep reading, long after bedtime. A thoroughly absorbing read, with proper villains and the occasional incidental hero.

Recommended for anyone who enjoys a good action thriller, spy thriller or just a good old fashioned shoot out.

Love it!
