Oh my gosh!!! The amazing @heidi_swain has only gone and done it AGAIN!!!

Anyone who follows me will know that Heidi is my favourite author ever, and this book only proves why that is the case! This is her 11th book and yet, her storytelling continues to resonate with me and leave a place in my heart!

I loved re-visiting Nightingale Square and getting to know it’s newest residents, as well as visiting those who have been here a while.

Once again, I love how all the books subtly weave into one another as we hear of the lovely folk from Wynthorpe Hall and Skylark Farm.

Finn is now my favourite of Heidi’s leading men (sorry Jacob) and Freya is just the sweetest woman!! I can’t go on enough about how much I adored this book. This is the perfect read on the lead up to Christmas and I can’t wait to receive my physical copy to place proudly with her other gorgeous books!

Thanks to @simonschusteruk and @netgalley for approving me to read and review it!!

And thank you to @heidi_swain for continuing to write books that make my heart soar and to help me escape! You truly have created the most beautiful locations for your readers to disappear to and I for one look forward to what’s to come in the future 💕💕

It's said, you should write about what you know & Heidi Swain has certainly done that! A lover of all horticulture & with an amazing garden, she has put all that love into writing this book.
Freya has lost a wonderful friend & now her home. She felt desolate but by chance, she has found a new life & home by setting up a winter garden at Prosperous Place. This leads to many new things for her & her dog Nell.
I do love a Heidi Swain book & this did not disapoint. The joy of gardening flows through the pages & makes me want to pick up a hoe & do some work in my own garden. Enjoy this feel good book.

The first book of Meteorological Autumn is a Christmas one – it seemed only fitting as the temperature has dropped and the nights are already starting earlier! I can firmly say that I was not disappointed with my first read of September.

Heidi Swain is the Queen of cosy reads – for any season! But she absolutely nails it for cosy reads in Autumn and Winter and you will definitely want to pre-order this book to arrive on your doorstep on October 1st.

This was unpredictable – which is often hard to achieve with these cosy reads. I found myself thinking ahead almost certain of what was going to happen and then Heidi would throw a curveball against my predictions. There was variety, diversity, educational aspects and of course romance and to top it all off this book is more ‘Wintery’ than ‘Christmassy’ so it’s perfect in the lead up and beyond.

This is the third in the nightingale series and a return Heidi Swain's best. Unlike the second one 'Poppy's Recipe for Life' this one once again focused fully on the square's residents and that's what I love most about Heidi's novels that sense of catching up with much loved friends. It never ceases to amaze me, however, that one small square can have so many gorgeous and eligible bachelors.

Don't worry though if you haven't read any of the others as each one focuses on a different lead character and story so it really won't matter. Like the others though it's another heart-warming tale of new beginnings, love and friendships with delightful characters and a idyllic setting. A simple formula but one that works so well!

Heidi Swain is one of my all-time favourite authors. With her trademark charm, effortless writing style and vivid descriptions, I could clearly picture the garden, square and every single character. Once again I fell in love with the place, wanting to up sticks and move there.

When Freya's friend, mentor and boss dies she is bereft, then the new owner of the Suffolk estate where she works makes it clear that he has no interest in maintaining the gardens or the house and definitely doesn't want to pay Freya for her work, she is devastated. But when one door closes another door opens and a chance radio chat show leads her to meet Luke, the owner of Nightingale Square, and a job offer to create a Winter Garden.

Soon Freya is making new friends in the village and is heavily involved in a series of holiday inspired classes (think making Christmas puddings, Christmas wreathes etc) to bring the villagers together and alleviate the symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder which impact Luke in particular.

This is the third book in a series about the residents of Nightingale Square, I haven't read the others but this can definitely be read as a stand-alone. Perfect for fans of Katie Fforde, Sue Moorcroft and Kate Hewitt.

Cute, predictable, warm and comforting, this is an easy-read perfect pre-Christmas reading to get you ready for the festive season.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

The next instalment of the Nightingale Square saga is definitely worth the wait and needs a cup of hot chocolate or mulled wine to accompany it along with a view of green space, although why not visit the Winter Garden (I really hope there is a real one like this somewhere!).

I love the characterisation in these books and you feel welcomed back into the fold of the square. Luke and Kate are the best parents for the family and it feels like we have only briefly been away.

This is a fun book although you want to hold the characters tightly a few times and advise them What to do and what to think! I loved the family dynamics with Freya and Finn.

This book certainly shows how green space and plants are healing, Needs to be read!

It’s that wonderful time of the year where our bookshelves are decorated with festive wintery reads and my first festive book of 2020 is The Winter Garden by Heidi Swain which introduces us to a new lead character in Freya Fuller who is about to be wrapped up in the charm of Nightingale Square.
Freya has marvellous green fingers and has enjoyed her job tending the gardens of Broad Meadows but when the owner, her good friend Eloise passes away Freya not only finds her job at risk but also losing her home. As fate intervenes an opportunity arises at Nightingale Square where owner Luke is looking to open a winter garden for people to escape to in the winter months. A new start for Freya a new home, new job but could this be the start of a new winter romance too?
What a wonderful start to this years festive reads, being reunited with characters that we have grown to know and love in the community hub of Nightingale Square was a real treat and Freya was the perfect character to join their community she was in need of the support and friendship that they all come together and offer.
I personally have to hold my hands up and say when it comes to gardening, I do not have the foggiest where to start so some of the parts of the storyline went over my head but I could feel Freya’s passion and natural flare for gardening.
There is a rollercoaster of a romance surrounding Freya and the incredibly talented and handsome Finn that although it was quite predictable as to what the outcome would be between them I enjoyed the ups and downs of the journey.
I really warmed and connected to Chloe in this novel too and there was a particular part that resonated with me and felt like a kick in the stomach and is something I think people need to take onboard and I am hoping this book may make people think before asking if someone has children just because they wear a wedding ring, I have found myself having the same conversation as Chloe having to explain the death of my husband too as to the reason why we do not have children. Heidi took a sensitive issue and weaved this into the storyline with such care and emotion.
I loved The Winter Garden, Heidi Swain has delivered another cosy heartwarming read. There was a festive feel to the storyline with the traditional Christmas Markets, tasty delights and the Christmas decorations all play a part in bringing the Christmas spirit out in us already I am longing to pop my tree up now and read next to the glistening lights with a hot chocolate!

I loved reading this cute Christmas story in the autumn! The story revolves around Freya and Finn whom when they first meet don’t actually see eye to eye! Love how the love blossoms between them and how they both fall in love @ prosperous house! The story made we actually want to visit a stately home and see a winter garden.

I haven't read a Heidi Swain book for a little while, and now I'm wondering why! This book had such a lovely feeling throughout, friendly characters, a wonderful little dog, craft workshops, a wonderful garden on an estate, and lots of wintry feelings, with a build up towards Christmas.

Freya is a gardener who worked at an estate for an elderly lady who felt more like her grandmother than an employer. But when the lady died and her (horrible) nephew took over Freya decided it was time to, reluctantly, move on. Luckily whilst visiting another garden in Nightingale Square in Norwich she met Luke, who owned the estate and gardens, and he offered her a job and a house to set up his new winter garden.

So gradually Freya sets up the garden, meets new friends and neighbours, especially the lovely sculptor Finn and finds a new happier life.

This is the third book in the Nightingale Square series and whilst other characters were mentioned from previous books it didn't detract from this one, it just made me want to go back and catch up with their stories too. Very enjoyable read, a warm hug in a book!

Another wonderful book. I loved how self doubt and feeling unloved when everything is changing around you. Then on a day out she gets a sign from Eloise that brings about the unexpected and signals a new start, wonderful friends and love

Freya loves her job as a live in gardner but when her employer and friend Eloise dies her estate goes to her american Nephew who soon makes it clear he intends to sell the estate.
Facing the prospect of losing her job and home, Freya is delighted when she gets the offer of a job to manage the gardens at Prosperous Place with a home on Nightingale Square thrown in.
Freya’s first task is to prepare a Winter garden to be opened to the public in just a few weeks.
Relishing the task Freya is soon engrossed both in the garden and the Nightingale square community, if only she could get on so well with Finn who is providing some of his very unique sculptures for the garden everything would be perfect. But Finn also has things he is finding it difficult to leave behind. Can they both put aside their differences or is there too much keeping them apart for them to have any type of relationship.
Beautiful is the only word I could think of to describe this. I love the characters of Freya and Finn and it’s also lovely to catch up with familiar characters from Nightingale Square and Prosperous Place.

Reading a book by Heidi Swain is like being enveloped in an enormous family hug. Her books always have that feel-good factor and The Winter Garden doesn't disappoint.
It was lovely to revisit the inhabitants of Nightingale Square through the eyes of a new resident, Freya. Freya finds herself drawn to Nightingale Square and what follows is a wonderful and warm festive tale. The plot line is predictable but that is what makes this such an enjoyable read. It is about love, friendship, family, new beginnings and hope. I for one loved being in Nightingale Square and cannot wait to be back amongst the residents again very soon.

Thank you, Simon & Schuster, and NetGalley for a copy of The Winter Garden by Heidi Swain. I didn’t realise this was book three of a series but, you can read it as a standalone as I have not read the previous 2 books and I found it easy to know what’s going on.
Freya Fuller is trying to get life back on track after losing her employer and mentor Eloise. She is also forced out of her job as a Gardner at Broad Meadows. Her parents want her back at the family business as Landscape gardeners. But Freya has other ideas when she is offered a job to build a Winter Garden at Prosperous Place and a place to live in Nightingale Square. The place is a small community and she starts making friends with the locals especially Finn the hunky sculptor. At first they don’t get along but can they sort their differences out in time to finish the Winter garden in Time?
This is the second book from the author I have read. This is a charming heart-warming tale of love and friendships turning one’s life around. Set around Christmas time this is the perfect book to read on a cold winter’s night. I loved it. 5 stars from me.

I've read and loved other books by Heidi Swain but haven't read anything from her Nightingale Square series. So I'm pleased that this book works as a standalone.

This is a heartwarming tale about Freya coming to Nightingale Square after losing her best friend and employer, Eloise. Freya was a gardener on Eloise's estate in Suffolk, but after her friend died Freya cannot stand to see Jaskson tear the estate apart. So Freya asks Eloise for a sign and she receives a clear response by way of a radio interview about Properous Place's new project of a winter garden to help people combat SAD

Heidi Swain works her magic in telling this enchanting, feel good tale. I've just finished reading this afternoon on a chilly August Bank Holiday and its left me feeling very festive and craving a mince pie

A big thank you to Netgalley for the chance to read in exchange for an honest review

Heidi Swain does it again. A wonderful book from beginning to end.
I was transported back to Prosperous Place and Nightingale Square. Back to all the characters I had met in previous books.
My excitement at reading this book continued as I started reading the first page total gripped from the start. It took me just over 8 hour's to complete.
The new characters Freya and Nell her adoptive dog gripped me straight away. Then there is Finn and his brother Zak a pair as different as chalk and cheese.
Freya had taken on a new job at Prosperous Place to make a winter garden. Finn was living in the grounds and had a work shop to do his sculptures by night but worked with his dad and brother Zak by day. As usual the residents of Nightingale Square all rally round to help where ever they can. Just 1 big happy family.
By the end of this book I felt as if all the characters were my friends and the discrptions in the book gave me a real vision of the place that I felt as if I had actually been there and saw everything for myself.
Heidi Swain is a brilliant writer and knows how to capture your imagination. Waiting with bated breath for the next book.

Huge thank you to netgalley for this copy!

Heidi Swain has done it again!!! A beautiful, heartwarming read! We go back to Nightingale Square, this time meeting Freya! I loved her character and all the sass! Although it can be read as a standalone novel, I would suggest reading the first two as you see the other characters story (like Kate and Luke!) I loved this winter read and it’s perfect in front of a fire with a cuppa!!

A magical read! I loved it!

Another brilliant Christmas book from Heidi Swain! This book is perfect for when you want to escape real life for a few hours

Our main character Freya is given the task of creating a winter garden at Nightingale Square. Whilst enjoys this task she also enjoys becoming part of the community.

A special aspect of this book was the inclusion of SAD and mental health issues. It's refreshing to. see an author tackle these head on.

The Winter Garden sounds like a magical place to visit, a sign of fantastic story-telling is when you want to move to the fictional location!

A very enjoyable read, I'll definitely be recommending this to others when it is released. Thanks to Netgalley and Simon&Schuster for an early review copy.

Once again Heidi Swain doesn’t disappoint. I didn’t want to put this book down.

Freya moves to Nightingale square following the death of her friend, employer and mentor. She has been employed by Luke to transform the gardens at Prosperous Place, Finn has been asked to produce some sculptures for the garden- after a bad start can they learn to get along?

What I really love about Heidis novels is the sense of community and the ways in which the relationships between characters develop. The only problem is I now wish I was more green fingered and creative!

I love Heidi Swain books and this is no exception. It involves a return to Nightingale Square for fans (but you can easily follow if this is your first Heidi Swain novel). In this book we have Freya, desperately trying to get back on track following the death of her friend and mentor. Unfortunately her new boss is demanding and trying to sell her workplace and home. Then she meets Luke Lovett who offers a job creating a Winter Garden at his home Prosperous Place and a home in Nightingale Square. A new start, both for her and her jittery dog Nell but a sparky 'relationship' with Finn, the local sculptor, and her past making an unwelcome return, will it turn out to be a happy christmas for Anna?
More of a winter story than a christmas story but none the worse for that. It sees a welcome return from familiar characters and also sees some great new ones (Chloe). Its got a great community focus and I love the idea of WinterFest. Just curl up with a huge mug of hot chocolate and experience yet another great story by Heidi Swain.

A good read for two reasons: Heidi Swain never disappoints, and a welcome addition to the Nightingale Square and gardens book. Two delightful new characters with a slow build to romance. This book is well written and has already made me reach for a gardening book.
