Across the Bridge of Ice has beautiful cover art which was the first thing that drew me in. This is my first time reading anything by this author. It will also be my last book.

this was another good read from Ms. Fox, I enjoyed getting to know the characters and getting back into this world. Hopefully there is more in the series.

I thought I'd give this book a chance since I read the previous one but I was not a huge fan unfortunately. I couldn't connect with the characters.

I tried reading this at least 3 times but I always end up DNF-ing it. I found the pacing too slow and I do not like what became of Keira and could not continue. It's sad because I liked the first book but I cannot finish this one.

A sincere thank you to the publisher, author and Netgalley for providing me with an ebook copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This is not my usual genre,  however I wanted to take the opportunity to read something from outside my norm. And I am glad I did!! Thank you for  opening up my mind to something totally different. Characters were so well developed that I felt as though I knew them. I love when a book draws you into the story and it feels like you are living it with them.

Keira Liechman finds herself in a strange, unknown building after stumbling across a hidden bridge of ice. After having broken her ankle during a freak blizzard in her hometown, she becomes upset at the prospect of no longer being able to play soccer and steals her best friend's telescope, which seems oddly protective over. Catapulted into this new world, she has to find a way back home without being caught by the city's government.

I was a little apprehensive when I first started reading this book. Keira's character came across quite selfish, and I didn't really like reading her thoughts. However, once we'd passed the inciting incident her character became a lot more likeable and I felt more gripped within the storyline. I don't know if this was because the pacing had changed, or if it was because she became less selfish. Either way, it did lead the book to being more enjoyable.

I loved the idea of Shar and the idea of reaching a city in the sky via a bridge made of ice, which can't be seen with her naked eye. This is the second in a series, and I felt like it was a little confusing with some lack of knowledge for not having read the first book. However, this was only a small hindrance and the overall development, and understanding, of the plot was easy to follow.

This was a really short read, because of this it did feel like some of the plot was rushed in places. The storyline lasted over the course of a couple of days, but it felt like there were some mini time jumps. However, the small number of pages didn't detrimentally affect the world-building of Shar. I felt immersed within the world, and the glimpse of the culture and society of Shar was beautifully executed. I only wish that we had spent some more time there to get a bigger understanding of this universe.

There were some tiny hints of romance within this book, but they didn't seem to fit in all that well with the plot. They seemed a little bit forced and almost as though they had been thrown in for the sake of it. This may be in part due to the small nature of this book. I think that a little more time spent on developing these plot points would have gone a long way to making them feel more interwoven with the story, rather than tacked on as an afterthought.

This YA Fantasy is book 2 of 3 of The Bridges Trilogy but could be read as a stand-alone. It was easy to follow Keira as she discovers a new world - Shar; her escape once she discovers the dangerous secrets and beliefs of the Guardians in this world.

She develops confidence and strength as she fights to keep Daniel safe and bring him back to Earth while confronting her feelings for Jake, Daniel’s brother and Archon, her new friend from Shar. Interesting read!

I enjoyed this opportunity to step back into the world of Shar, this time with a different protagonist. It is interesting to see Keira develop as the book goes on, and we get a closer insight to the negative parts of the silver city. The book does seem a little slow in places and then the end has a rushed feel, but it is still a very enjoyable read.

The book starts with a visit to the doctor's office as Keira's ankle was injured during a wild snowstorm after which she had started to get strange dreams. Moving on, she finds a strange telescope in her best friend Jake's house leads her on an exciting journey to the city of Shar with Jake's younger brother Daniel.

The book is quite small so it was a quick and easy read. We see how the people of Shar fear humans and how according to them these two kids could lead to their destruction. The world-building is good, the city of Shar seems like a beautiful place to live but it has its own dangers and mysteries.

The characters in the book were not developed a lot and sometimes did quite unexpected things for weird reasons which did not make sense. The ending felt very rushed but it successfully set the stage for the next book where all the character have to band together if they successfully want to complete their mission!

I would definitely recommend this book to people who love YA fantasy and are looking for a quick read.
