What a lovely story of Anansi the spider and his sister Sewa with brilliant illustration! I loved seeing the diverse characters.

This book is adorable introduction to the life of young spider named Anansi and his sister Sewa. Being the name sake of a trickster African god, we would expect to see young Anansi getting into a little trouble. And we are rewarded with him slyly finding a loophole in his father's rule about not playing in the rain. The very colorful imagery plus the light reading and strong rain vocabulary words will make this a perfect read for a young child.

I read the second book in the story before this one, so I knew that they were a spider family, but the introduction at the start was a great help and lacking for me from the second book. This story was quite cute and it features two young members of the spider family that want to play outside but it is too wet, it stops briefly and then turns in to a drizzle and they have fun splashing around outside – it is 3 stars from me for this one

Great children's book with bright colourful illustrations that explained the story well.
Can see that preschool children would absolutely love this book - and it's good to see Spiders in a good light rather than as something that should be avoided.

I very much like the pictures in this story book. Anansi is an African trickster God who is sometimes in the form of a spider which is one of the main characters the little boy spider. although you don't see as much trickster God in the stories are absolutely beautiful stories to teach children about anansi it also has a moral to this story about having to wait to go outside in the rain having fun with your family.

This book follows Anansi and Sewa as they try to find a way to entertain themselves during heavy rain.

The illustrations were cute and I enjoyed how the anthropomorphised spiders were shown.

The text was clear and well laid out, aiding a child reader.

However, given the description I had expected a little more mischief. I do see that there is another book so perhaps we'll see that there but I did feel that the book would have benefitted from a little more going on.

Nevertheless, this is a sweet story which is well laid out.

I love the idea of continuing and updating the Anansi tradition, but this doesn't quite work. There's just not enough in the story (and no Anansi-style trickery) to keep the interest.

The second Anasi story I have read. This one was my favourite of the 2. Basically the 2 children want to play but it is raining. They play in the rain, splash in puddles and have a great time, even wetting the mum and dad. It is a lovely simple story. Who doesn't love splashing in puddles on a wet day!?!
