I received a free ARC from Netgalley. I am leaving my honest review.
To be blunt, I didn't like this book. The plot never really went anywhere, the characters were ste²reotypes and one dimensional. There was no way to relate to them. The supernatural elements were supposed to be related to Native American lore but the tie in wasn't clear.
I thought the repetitive use of the word "faggot" was offensive. I realize that it was done in an effort to portray the red neck villian but it wasn't necessary. His actions made it quite clear that Rose was a bad guy.
If this was supposed to be a horror novel, it missed the mark
“Reverse The Glow? You can’t. All you can do is control it - maybe. And only with great care and difficulty.”
The Glow makes you perfect but perfection comes at a cost. Everything has to be in balance or The Glow burns you up.
This is an unique scifi thriller that mixes native culture with a small minded southwestern town. It is an interesting read that keeps you thinking it’s going one way, and then takes a detour to some surprising places.
