I love the Southern Ghost hunter Series. I feel like every book just keep getting better and better. You think after 9 books things would get repetitive, but somehow Fox keeps the series fresh. The beginning was a little slow, but it definitely picked up towards the end. Can't wait to see how the next one goes.

I thought Southern Bred and Dead was a run of the mill cozy mystery, somehow I missed the paranormal aspect. That being said I really enjoyed this one! The author writes such an interesting story with really great characters, this one is a few books into the series and you can tell we are really starting to pull some history from the characters. I liked them and the mystery!

Another fun entry into the Southern Ghost Hunter mystery series! As always, it’s funny and a very easy read. These books are the perfect escape from daily stresses. If I ever acquire a pet skunk, male or female, you’d better believe I will be naming them Lucy.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book. This book is well written and the characters are described well. I absolutely adore Lucille the skunk as she is precious. I recommend reading the first book in this series to get to know the characters better. But overall this book is good. It is quick paced and enjoyable. The romance is slow and sweet. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. This ebook is in stores now for $4.99 (USD).

SOUTHERN BRED AND DEAD is the fourteenth book in the Southern Ghost Hunter series. This series is best read in order of release.

I love Verity and Lucy the skunk. In this book, we get to know more about Frankie the mobster ghost, his family, and how he died. Doing all of that means going to a haunted theater, a speakeasy, and a mob safehouse. Welcome to the 1920s on the ghostly plane!

Not only is Verity trying to help Frankie resolve his issues, but there are some unrelenting real-life problems to be addressed. Wyatt isn’t happy with Verity’s ghost-hunting since it keeps putting her in danger; dangers he can’t see or protect her from. This time there has already been one murder and the ghosts attached to the cemetery at the Three Angels of the Tabernacle Blessed Reform Church of Sugarland are agitated.

Obviously, Verity is one busy Southern lady, but she manages to juggle it all with grace and dignity. I want to BE Verity when I grow up!

Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC via NetGalley, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Another great book in this series. Such a fun and easy read, and very entertaining. These books are fun and this one is no exception. A good mystery too. I liked the scenes with Beau, they were funny and cute. The only drawback in this book was the main character (Verity) fighting with her boyfriend so much (so much for him being very supportive, like in other books in the series). It was really distracting, too much drama. I hope the next in the series leaves all that boyfriend drama out. This is easily one of my favorite cozy mystery series! I look forward to the next.

This is my first book to read in the series but it the ninth book. I kept hearing about this series so when I saw this on Netgalley I grabbed it. This is a humorous paranormal cozy mystery with a bit of romance. The mystery is well-plotted and highly entertaining. The characters are fun and likable. I will definitely read more of this series.

All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way have I been influenced by anyone.

Verity is still helping her ghostly companion on his search for why he was killed. While attending a function for a local church, a close friend is murdered. And it all loops together on why Frankie died. It is a light cozy mystery that pulled on my heartstrings at times.

The tension is everywhere as Verity helps Frankie investigate his demise and looks into a suspicious death at a church where the cemetery is home to hostile, zombie-like ghosts while navigating relationship issues that could derail things between her and Ellis. Humor, deftly applied, breaks the tension when needed and one highlight is a surprising interlude with Beau. Lucy, as always, shines whenever she appears in a scene and we're introduced to a number of new characters who add to an already interesting series. It was quite the ride and I loved every second of it!

Wow! The author did it again! Such an adventurous ride with this one! I loved how this book came together. I finally got closure about Frankie's bullet in the head. I hope to read more of his family in future books. I highly recommend this series, it just keeps getting better and better. I look forward to the next book! 5 stars! Thank you to Net galley and Moose Island Books for an advance digital copy. The opinions expressed are truly mine.

Southern Bred and Dead has Frankie wanting to find his brother Lou, who is also dead.  Frankie found out in the last book that Lou is the one that shot and killed him, so Frankie has some questions!

Verity wants to help him, but also wants to investigate the death of her grandmother's friend, who had some items for Verity, but after she fell (or was she pushed?) from the church tower, Verity can't find them.

The ghosts around the church are also acting oddly.

Verity has her hands full trying to investigate everything, but we know that's usual for her!

This was a fun read, with twists that I didn't see coming!

Angie Fox also has another series of books called Accidental Demon Slayer, which has 11 books in the series! She also has a  Facebook page  and a  reader group .

I've previously read and reviewed the below books in the series:

Southern Spirits, A Ghostly Gift and The Skeleton in the Closet - book 1, 1.5 and 2

Pecan Pies and Dead Guys  - book 7

The Mint Julep Murders  - book 8

The Ghost of Christmas Past  - book 8.5

I was given this book for free in return for an unbiased review, so my thanks to NetGalley and to Moose Island Books and Author Collective 20  (the publishers) for this book.

When Verity decides to go to a fundraiser, she is hoping for a relaxing time, before going on a stakeout later on with Frankie. When a beloved friend of her grandmothers falls to her death. Its up to Verity along with some help from the other side to find out what happened. Its an excellent series. One I hope doesnt end for a long time. It really is a pleasure to catch up with the sugarland gang. Angie Fox knows how to draw her readers in. This book will have you thinking just one more chapter before bed. Can't wait for the next installment, highly recommended.

Southern Bred and Dead by Angie Fox

A haunted church and a ghastly death. Can Verity clear up the case before she’s buried way over her head?

This was a great book, full of ghosts. The main character could see and talk to ghosts. Her house guest, Frankie the ghost, kept her busy with his projects. This book had great characters and I enjoyed them plot. I recommend this book.

Thank you Net Galley for sending me an advanced reader’s copy for review.

This is book 9 in the Southern Ghost Hunter series and it's another great fun read by Angie Fox. This story can be read as a stand alone but you'll want to catch the entire set. Verity heads to the church fund raiser with her sidekick mobster ghost and her pet skunk. When a friend dies after a fall from the steeple the ghost at the church are all active. These books are light fun reads with a credible cozy mystery to solve. the paranormal aspect is light and non threatening. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This book had the best relationship advice of all times for those of us who feel the need to be right, all the time. "If you you're always looking to be right, you're going to have to make him wrong." "Why don't yo utry to find a way through this together: Turst me, it's better than being right." Lauralee is the kind of friend that every protagonist like Verity needs. Of course Verity needs to be a strong character, she is a ghost hunter with a gangster ghost as a ghost hunting partner, and I don't mean gangta' I mean, right out of the Al Capone era, gangster. I'm not sure if he is the reason Verity get's herself in the predicatments she does, which causes her police officert boyfriend, Ellis, to get twitchy and worried. Verity has a special gift and just enough Southern Stubborn to not let anyone stop her from using it. But this time she may be in over her head even with Frankie lending her some of his "juice" while he looses a leg. Great story and I do believe I may be getting better at putting together the clues, I figured 75% of this one out before the big unveiling. I was very happy with the ending, it was perfectly cozy!

I definitely felt a little bit lost reading this one, since I think I missed some character development given in earlier works in the series.
I am interested in reading this from the beginning, so maybe a future 2021 endeavor. But, for now I am settling on a 2.5 star read

Southern Bred and Dead by Angie Fox is the 9th book in The Southern Ghost Hunter Mystery series. Verity Long is a ghost hunter, who usually gets help from Frankie, her gangster ghost.  Not only is this book really funny, it has a great mystery, with exciting activity. There are twists and turns around every corner. I found this book to be a quick read, with a well developed plot and characters. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. If you love humorous paranormal cozy mysteries, I strongly recommend this book. This book can be read as a stand alone but you might want to start with book one Southern Spirits, you won't be disappointed if you like fun, paranormal cozy mysteries. Definitely one of my favorite series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Verity Long is back with her ghostly sidekick Frankie the gangster, hunting ghosts and uncovering secrets kept until beyond the grave. This mystery involves the murder of a close family friend and Frankie’s long lost brother, who happens to be the person that shot him when he was alive. Danger and peril reign in the ghostly world, and Verity gets some help from a surprising source, her ex-fiancé. And she gets in hot water with her current boyfriend, who wishes she’d stop the ghost hunting all together. Can Frankie and Verity solve the murder and find his brother in time?

I’ve not read all of the series, but I have read quite a few. This wasn’t my favorite of the books, but it was an entertaining and amusing read with just enough twists and suspense to keep my interest to the very end.
