It’s a new year and the perfect opportunity to practice feeling grateful as this guide suggests. SUNRISE GRATITUDE by Emily Silva was originally published during the height of the COVID pandemic and offers a meditation to start each day of the year: "What a gift it is to be alive! To wake up, and take a breath, to hear the lovely sounds of morning ... our senses are coming alive as we awaken each morning." The reflection prompts are roughly a half dozen sentences in length and Silva, a former corporate trainer and coach, accompanies them with beautiful pictures from nature. This inspiring book and her companion volume, Moonlight Gratitude, seem like a wonderful resource to use oneself or to offer as a meaningful gift.

Not for me, thanks. The pretty artwork on the cover of #SunriseGratitude was what attracted my eye, and the nature photography inside is lovely. But the format didn't lend itself well to reading as an ARC (Thank you anyway #NetGalley and Quarto), and reading all the daily entries in one go is a much different experience than reading one per morning. The entries were pretty standard self help motivators/ meditations, complete with appropriative language like "finding your tribe", which was used multiple times, and lots of "just do x" or "if you do y" sentiments that may be fine for neurotypical people, but would not be helpful for many neurodivergent and/or mentally ill readers who struggle with executive function. While I'm sure the author is very nice, there's just a rich white SoCal yoga chick vibe to this, like the author might unironically decorate with "Live Laugh Love" and use crystals and gongs while doing yoga. I'm sure it will work for some other readers, but I won't bother finishing it.

This was a beautiful book, and I enjoyed the subject matter and content a lot. It has a very calming influence and as someone who suffers from anxiety I found this helpful, you can also dip in and out when you need to and don’t need to read it all in one go.

Sadly, I was unable to download this book in time before it was archived and this I was not able to either read or review it. My apologies.

A short reading for each day of the year with thoughts, meditations and activities to help a reader develop a more mindful start to their day with beautiful pictures interspersed throughout. With each day's offering needing no more than a couple of minutes, I'm sure everyone could find some time in their morning routine to take a moment to be thankful.

I received an eARC of this book from the publishers via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Can try these every day and then shake it up the next year. Could even do more than one a day if want. Really nice book and not full-on meditations. Some pages have one day on it and other pages have two days. Things to think about.

Sunrise Gratitude is filled with meditations and great daily reminders. In these uncertain days, I think it is important to be in peace, calm and thank the life we have. Plus, this book is visually beautiful. I kinda like that the text is short so it doesn't take much time to read and continue with your day.

This is a lovely book that I will likely buy at some point due to the nature of it being meant for daily use over the course of a year. I highly recommend this for anyone seeking gorgeous daily guidance.

Beautiful looking book that helps you reflect inwards daily, I like that you can flip to any page and take something positive away from it. Great little book for these trying times we're in.

Such a simple but wise book. I spent a couple of months practicing these affirmations and absolutely felt the positive benefit of them. A great way to remind ourselves that the world is far bigger than we are and we are more than the sum of our jobs, our homes, our families. We are each uniquely human. Loved it!

Sunrise Gratitude provides a deep and thoughtful passage to meditate on every day of the year. I thought the passages were meaningful and well written. It is a great grounding book especially for anyone who finds traditional meditation methods difficult. The images are beautiful even though they are scattered throughout the book. I love the front cover too. It is a book to keep by the bedside and read first thing in the morning to set you up in a positive frame of mind for the day. Overall a lovely little book.

A beautiful book throughout, bright and colourful.
A book which you can pick up and turn to any page to read.
After the turbulent year this year I think this is a fantastic book to add to a mindful collection be that at home or at work.
Thank you for this ARC in return for my honest opinion.

Not Really Gratitude or Meditations

In the book's subtitle, the author states that these are meditations, but I really wouldn't call them that in the traditional sense. Rather, each day is given a brief topic on subjects ranging from the practical to standard self-help topics to the metaphysical, about you or about others or the world. Just a brief paragraph is provided for the reader to reflect on. Though the title states that this is for sunrise gratitude, I didn't really get a sense that these were gratitude reflections. The book is divided by month, though I don't see anything particularly seasonal about the entries. Each month has a beautiful ocean scene; I would have loved to have seen more of these scattered throughout the book. I have read many of these types of “daily” books in my time; I didn't feel like anything really stood out as special about this one.

Sunrise Gratitude is a beautiful book from the words written, the beautiful cover, to the images throughout the book. This book feels like it was written specifically for me as each mediation resonates so strongly to what I am experiencing in that moment. Starting my day reading these guided mediations helps center me, uplift my mood and get me ready to tackle my day. During covid, times have been especially challenging but I have found that Sunrise Gratitude has really calmed my mind and spirit while helping me stay positive. Emily has a gift, her writing pulls you in and you want to read all the mediations at once. You can visualize each mediation so vividly which helps deepen the mediation. I cannot say enough about this book, it is beautiful, calming and uplifting. If you have not read Moonlight Gratitude or Find your Glow, Feed your Soul: A Guide for Cultivating a Vibrant life of Peace & Purpose I HIGHLY recommend them as well.

This is a cute little uplifting ‘read a bit everyday’ book. It has a thought, reflection, or a feel good text, very short text, for everyday of the year. You are meant to read it in the morning, to start your day with a positive note. I think many people could benefit from reading this, since so many are stressed, tired, and quite frankly mean at times. By reading a few sentences in the morning, and reflecting on what you read, the day just might get a better start, and you might be in a better mood, so why not try it?

I had a hard time with this book but it was because of the format. It did not give me the option to download it to my kindle. The only way I had access to it was on a desk computer that is not in a space appropriate to properly commit to meditation. I could also not get to it at the prescripted time. Overall it seems like something that can be helpful but you will need a hard copy of the book

Short yet powerful daily meditations. Wonderful pictures and drawings. It's a delight to browse through this book. However, the meditations are wonderful to start your day more positively. Reading the small paragraph each morning would make a good morning ritual.

So much gratitude for being granted permission to read this book by Netgalley!!! The daily meditations are very grounding and are the perfect way to start the day with a sense of calm. I've been looking forward to this book for quite some time as I adore the author's previous book, Moonlight Gratitude. I look forward to buying it and adding it to my collection to use with the clients I see in my practice. Such a beautiful book!! Not only are the daily readings lovely but the photos are stunning and add to theme of grounding that this book exudes!

Thank you for my advanced review copy of Sunrise Gratitude. Having received this in September, I skipped ahead and had a look through for the month. Lovely sentiments and a daily reminder that there is always something to be grateful for. Gratitude is the perfect place to start when making changes for the positive! My only issue is that there is no kindle edition available and I can only keep in my netgalley shelf for 55 days but this book has intentions of gratitude for 365!
