Tara and Christian Carver have the perfect family life. Tara runs her own internet dating app business whilst Christian is a stay at home dad to their son Marlon. Their life was faultless until Tara leaves for Japan on a business trip and has a one night stand with a man she believed she would never lay eyes on again. This turned out to be the biggest mistake of Tara’s life as he soon tracks her down and resolves to tear her family apart.

Tony Parsons does an astounding job at depicting the story of marriage and infidelity! Packed with twists and turns and a constant feeling of suspense this novel truly does have it all!

Oh wow, this is definitely Tony Parsons’ best by a long chalk. All of the charcuterie were well rounded, some more likeable than others. Tara did come across as super entitled and it has to be said a tiny bit annoying. Christian sounded and was rounded to played as a sap and unfortunately he nailed that. Tara’s parents and friends were central to the plot but they didn’t detract in any way. They all fitted together nicely. It was an enjoyable read. Thank you Netgalley.

Tara Carver is a woman who seems to have it all (a perfect family, successful career, great looks) until she makes one fateful mistake. This engaging story by Tony Parsons is hard to categorise as it’s a thriller, love story, whodunit and psychological drama all in one. Very engaging from the go, Parsons movingly captures the fragility of happiness and everything that anchors you to the world whilst producing a gripping drama which keeps the reader guessing throughout. I didn’t find the central character very sympathetic but otherwise loved it.

I was disappointed when I saw that this was not a new Max Wolfe book as I have loved the series and how the main characters develop, but this standalone is the real deal. It is a beautifully written and plotted psychological thriller that engrossed me from the opening page.

I will not reveal the plot as I do not want to spot the enjoyment for tiers but if you want a well written and fascinating thriller then I can wholeheartedly recommend this one.

This book is about Tara & Christian Carver. Tara has her own internet dating app business and Christian is a full time dad to their son Marlon. Everything seems perfect until one day Tara goes to Japan for a business conference. She meets a man and has a one night stand. This will turn out to be the biggest mistake of her life. Tara thinks that she will never see him again but he tracks her down and makes her life a misery & Tara’s happy family life will never be the same again.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and it will not be the last. I really enjoyed the writing style and the story really gripped me from the start. I enjoyed the exploration of the different characters in the book. What we initially see on the outside is not necessarily the whole story. There are a few things that prevented me giving this 5 stars. Firstly I questioned some of the police procedures and whether people could be charged on the evidence that the police had. I also guessed the ending but was not fully convinced. I also think that the book could have been condensed a little bit as there was some unnecessary detail in my opinion. Overall I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading more of Tony’s work.

Although I enjoyed this book I did feel that the plot falls apart in places, especially the police investigation and the subsequent court case. Although the author tells you who commits the murder very near the beginning he then throws up so many red herrings that you start to disbelieve yourself.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House UK for the advance copy of this book.

I'm a huge fan of the Max Wolfe series and was delighted to see this standalone offering.
I found the story great, hooked me in and was non stop until the end where it spat me back out still questioning everything I'd learned along the way.
The character of James Caine was utterly chilling and Christian was so likeable, I spent a while going but why Tara, just why and shaking my head, what a mess she made from one stupid decision.
I'm still a bit confused by the title and not sure what that related to
But, overall an enjoyable read which kept me guessing right until the very end.
Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for my eARC in return for my honest review.

A big fan of the Max Wolfe books I was keen to read this book. I'm sorry to say that it wasn't up to the standard of the those books. Far too many holes in the plot, deeply unlikeable characters and a medical diagnosis that should have been laughed out of court m'lud if intended to intimidate. In the end they were all as bad as each other and it was more like an episode of Eastenders than a tense psychological thriller. Hugely disappointed it grieves me to say

Tony Parsons always writes brilliant novels and this is no exception, but I do have a few comments. Firstly, for the publishers attention please,, the title is confusing. Your Neighbours Wife sounds like fun and frolics among suburbia, which this book definitely is not. Who is the neighbour and who is the neighbour's wife? If James Caine was the neighbour as part of a ten minute meeting in an auditorium in Tokyo, then it certainly wasn't his wife, and if the neighbour was Tara it couldn't be her either, she is married to Christian. So who is the neighbour's wife, I would dearly like to know? I feel quite strongly that this title misleading, I suspect it was chosen to reel in readers.
Secondly the time frame surrounding the murder is a little murky. If Leo was seen in the vicinity of the murder with a nail hammer, was it before the murder when he wouldn't have known anything about it, or after which wouldn't make sense either. If Tara went to Jame's hotel room before the murder, how did she manage to arrange to meet up with Ginger and then return to the room, did no one see her????? And there is no explanation at to why Christian was at the hotel on the night of the murder, caught on cctv, what was he doing there, no one knows? There were a few instances where the everyday instances of life are a little too long. For example when Leo was trying to get Marlon to ride Maple and other similar ones. Also, if Ginger strayed in the early part of her marriage then it must really have been in trouble, people usually stray when they've been married for a while, not when you are starting out. Spike seemed to be a astrange one too, for most of the book he is friendly, supportive, a best friend kind of guy but close to the end he has a personality turn around, I'm not sure why this was there or what it achieved. The book starts with Tara checking Christian's phone for any evidence that he is playing away. If she is so concerned about this and the introduction of infidelity in her marriage, why is she then the one to go down that road of lies and destruction. Having said all that, it was a very good book and kept me hooked. Bring on more, Tony.

Chilling how a chance encounter and a dodgy decision can impact life as you know it forever.
Tara, loving and faithful wife from a perfect family goes on a conference and falls into bed with James Caine, older, suave business man.
The complexity of the characters is a joy, with each perfect facade gently peeling away to reveal the insecurities and darker sides of each as the story unfolds.
Tara did not garner any sympathy from me from the get go as I couldn't get on board with her poor decision in Tokyo, but as she is targeted from multiple directions by her now-stalker James, by an anonymous blogger seemingly trying to take down her business single handed to the doubts raised in her friendships and marriage she is bombarded with guilt and with a lack of support. and I did start to feel sorry for her having to deal with so much from so many directions.
The murder investigation is almost secondary to the complex web of characters and deceit but works incredibly well, keeping you guessing right to the reveal about whether the right person has been arrested.

A huge fan of Tony Parsons’ DC Max Wolfe series, I was interested to read another standalone novel, not having done so since the days of ‘Man and Boy’. Whilst this is clearly a psychological thriller, Parsons remains just as interested as ever in familial relationships. He introduces us to successful business woman, Tara Carver, owner of an online dating business and her one-time music journalist Christian, now a house husband and primary carer of their young son, Marlon.
At the outset, the reader is encouraged to think that this is a happy, loving and fulfilled family. But then Tara goes to Tokyo on business and spends the night with James Caine, a suave, slightly older business man. She is horrified at her reckless behaviour and vows never to communicate with him again. Unfortunately, he has other plans – and then he is found murdered in a London hotel room.
As the story unfolds and James’ stalking takes on a whole new dimension, Parsons encourages the reader to look carefully at the characters’ interactions. Tara is not the appreciative boss she likes to think she is and Christian is not quite as balanced and considerate as at first presented. Their great friends Ginger and Spike are actually pretty selfish and Tara’s father and mother are at loggerheads much of the time. Every relationship, those with Marlon aside, is fuelled by self-deception. Whilst the cruel, predatory James is certainly the villain of the piece, many of the characters have some of his personality traits.
Parsons clearly has the narrative skills to keep the reader hooked (and guessing!) throughout his carefully plotted story. He’s also not frightened to write about the grubby underbelly of his characters’ relationships, and his depictions are credible and thought-provoking. The importance of work, the desire for ‘nice things’, the lack of integrity in online lives, the place of the ‘alpha male’ in our society are just a few of the topics explored. For all these reasons, I am sure that this novel will be hugely enjoyed. However, for me, the concluding chapter is just a little too cosy and neat to convince as a plausible end to this tale of duplicity and self-regard.
My thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK Cornerstone for a copy of this novel in exchange for a fair review.

In my opinion Tony Parsons is at the peal of his writing. This is a psychological mystery, a murder story and a love story all rolled into one. Who would have thought that a one night stand far away from home could lead to such profound consequences! It is brilliantly written and takes you on a journey with many twists until the culprit is revealed at the end and the story has played out. I enjoyed it so much I couldn’t read it fast enough!
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House for an early reading copy in return for an honest review.

Tara seemingly lives the perfect life with a beautiful family and successful business, but one night she risks it all in a moment of madness while away on a work trip. The married man she spends the night with decides he wants a serious relationship and won't leave Tara or her family alone until she agrees. A thrilling story that keeps you enthralled until the end. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of the book in return for my honest feedback.

Tara seems to have it all. Loving husband, child and thriving business. And one unfaithful night can turn her perfect life around.

Tony Parsons is a master of words. It's not just a story about marriage and infidelity. It's a profound love story packed in a psychological thriller.

Wonderful book!

I am a huge fan of all of Tony Parsons novels but this one takes the cake, absolutely his best work. I recommend you get this one in your hands or on your tablet asap! Tony writes so well and always is able to draw you in and keep you attentive and on the edge of your seat. This one is no exception.

A wife makes a terrible mistake. There is no going back. Life is never going to be the same again and chaos flows. You have to read it to believe it. From one bad choice how many ripples impact her world will be regretted and as a reader even I did not see what was coming.

This is a taut psychological thriller that intrigues and left me panting for the final ending. Each twist and turn was deftly done and takes the reader on a crazy ride. I felt that the characters were really well done and the storyline smooth, I didn't miss a beat reading this over a few hours cover to cover.

In one night, one bad decision to stray from her husband. Nobody gets hurt right? Wrong...her one-night stand is not willing to let her go and he is coming into her world whether she likes it or not. This is stalker territory at it's worst. How can she protect her world from what she has done? It's not going to end pretty. Tony portrayed our stalker very darkly and I could imagine the emotions Tara was experiencing as he infiltrates her world and plays games with everything she holds dear.

A brilliant psychological thriller that delivers everything a good novel should. A big five stars from me!
