i really enjoyed reading this book, the characters were great and I really enjoyed going on this journey. It had a perfect combination of scifi and fantasy.

Raina Swiftmain holds a clue to the salvation of her country, and she knows her job is to finish what her parents started. But her task involves overthrowing an evil king who is armed to the teeth and will taxes and starves his people to death. How will she discover the keys she needs for freedom? And what will it cost her?
"Swiftmain" tells the story of Raina's quest for answers. On the journey, she relies on two animal friends and must decide if she will trust Torin, a knight who insists on helping. Through their journey, they reaffirm their faith, face and overcome obstacles, and discover clues together that may unlock freedom.
This book is a fun and fast read. I enjoyed the faith elements and reminders that God guides and works behind the scenes. The animals steal the show for me.
I could have used with less romance. It took away from the story and makes me not want to read other volumes in this series. There is also quite a bit of violence from period sword fights. The author also sometimes uses flashbacks, which interrupt the flow.
Readers who enjoy a good medieval story with a strong female heroine will like "Swiftmain."
