I haven’t given a poor review to any books received through NetGalley yet - but I honestly could not get through this book. I read up to page 60 and started to get exhausted at the amount of characters introduced that didn’t appear to have a role other than to show the main character was sociable. There appeared to have been no significant reason for the main character to participate or even come up with a crazy idea to marry someone from a dating app - other than for the fact it’s a main TV show (married at first sight). It was honestly just a bit dull - I couldn’t bring myself to finish it. Won’t be posting a review on goodreads.

This was such a cute read. The concept was a little bonkers when you think about it but the way in which it was done was really good.

I liked what it had to say about relationships and how they need work to continue to work year in year out. Jess’s story resonated with me a lot and made me think.

This was pretty good for a breezy summer beach read. Not the most deep or revelatory novel with something new to say, but if you're looking for something chill you could do a lot worse.

Right. I want to get this over with so I never have to think about this book again. Thank you to Netgalley for approving me for this book. I kind of wish you didn't now!

Firstly, this isn't a romance. This isn't cute. This isn't fun. There's no drama. To be honest, nothing much at all happens except what you expect i.e. they get married having never seen each other before. That's basically it. I can't spoil anything about this book because NOTHING ELSE HAPPENS.

Secondly, this book is written like a script. It's full of dialogue. Events and things that happen are glazed over and just referred to 'omg I can't believe you did that on your honeymoon'. Did WHAT? Cos we didn't get to see SHIT. We didn't get to see ANYTHING happen, we were only told it happened after the fact and that is frustrating as hell. When they first saw each other at the church? I was looking forward to hearing their thoughts about each other etc. I thought maybe there'd be some friction, maybe they'd hate each other and it'll be an enemies to lovers situation but NO we glaze over it to the next morning. WHAT?????? Why on God's green earth would you do that?

Thirdly, Hannah (one of the main characters) is a spoiled little brat and I hate her. She jumps down everyone's throat, she sulks and whines when she doesn't get her way (which is never cos she's a brat and always gets her way). She's just annoying and I didn't like her. She also felt like a cardboard cut out.

Nothing about this book was fleshed out, it didn't make me feel anything, I didn't care for the characters at all.

The first 50% of the book was unnecessary and boring. This book SHOULD have started from the wedding and we should have seen things develop from there. But what we got was 200 pages of organising a wedding and having wine and the next 200 pages of just conversations about basically nothing.

Also, what was the point of Jess having chapters? I would've preferred to see Toby's POV.

I can't get the time I've wasted back but I sure as hell can make sure no one else wastes their time with this book.

'Married at First Swipe' centres around Hannah, who is passionate about travelling, grasps every adventure and likes to live life on the edge, and her best friend Jess, who settled down 20 years ago, has two children and is very much a perfectionist.

After the birth of her nephew, Hannah decides it is time to settle back down in Manchester and Jess gives her a job at her company, dating app 'Save The Date'. Hannah yearns for someone to settle down with, and when she discovers that Save The Date is experiencing financial hardships, Hannah comes up with a plan which could solve everyone's problems.

But is meeting a man for the first time at the alter really going to help both, Hannah and Jess?

To begin with I wasn't 100% sure about this book. I thought the premise sounded unrealistic and in all honesty I feared it would be a bit cringe. However, I was drawn in by the modernity of the story line, put aside my preconceived opinions, and gave it a go.

Firstly I believe this is a very early edit as there were some paragraphs which jumped around a bit/a few grammar mistakes, but putting those aside it was a very well written book, with chapters jumping between Hannah and Jess, allowing us have insights into both their lives and hear things from both their views. I was really impressed with how realistic the characters were. Claire Frost really bought them to life and the challenges and hardships they face were really believable and relatable. I found myself warm to both. Hannah and Jess, and wanted happy endings for both of them.

I really enjoyed the themes touched upon in this book and think there are lessons we can all take from the story, such as the work you have to put into long-lasting relationships, how other people's lives are not as always as perfect as they may seem, and the difficulties you may face to keep all the plates spinning in life and that to do that we must take care of ourselves from time to time.

Overall, an easy and warming feel-good read. Many thanks to NetGalley and to Simon & Schuster UK for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a very enjoyable chick-lit adventure. I loved the story-line, the characters and the many moments of laugh out loud humour. This book has left me wanting more and I cannot wait to read about the further adventures of Jess , Tank, Hannah & Toby.
The book was quirky & funny but also dealt with real life issues such as complex relationships, marriages, divorces and friendship

Overall a five star read

I really well enjoyed reading this book! Loved all the characters which make up the story too. Was such a good read exploring friendships and love.

This is absolutely perfect for those who - like me - are currently obsessed with the TV series Married at First Sight. Who knew that meeting your bride / groom at the altar would make for such compelling narrative? Add in an entrepreneurial Mum trying to do it all, a judgey M and S Mother and a couple of boisterous twins and you’ve got yourself an awesome read.

I loved this book. It wasn't what I expected but in a good way. Would recommend. Love a book with such a focus on female friendship.

Really enjoyed this book and got so involved with the characters that I couldn't wait to see what was coming and how it would all end up!

Set over the course of a year following the lives and love of two best friends Jess and Hannah. Jess has been with her husband for twenty years (married for almost ten years), the pressures of family life, financial woes and running a business is taking its toll on her.

Hannah, on the other hand, has returned from travelling the world deciding to stay close to home for her family. Love isn't something that comes easy to her and has had her fair share of dating app nightmares.

Both working for Jess's Save The Date dating app - for those looking for long term love rather than a fling. It's struggling financially and Hannah comes up with an idea to help both the app and herself. She'll get married to a blind date that Jess choses from the app.

This book felt as though it was trying to be two stories in one. Focusing on the ups and downs of long term relationships as well as the blind date marriage idea. I don't think that it worked all in one book. I would have preferred more detail and depth to each Best friend's story separately.

This was a good fun read. I was expecting something light and fluffy with a happy ending but the author was able to explore deeper themes.
It was genuinely well written and all characters were relatable. From the fun loving Hannah to the work obsessed Jess going through marital problems.
I would definitely be interested in reading more from this author.

Cute and definitely an easy read! I enjoyed the alternating chapters between Jess & Hannah, and I loved reading about their friendship as it’s very real. And those blog posts were the best!

Thank you to Simon Schuster UK and Netgalley for giving me access to the ARC of Married At First Swipe by Claire Frost in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book, despite the odd grammar mistake due to being an early edit. It is an easy read with a plot that flows well with relatable characters. I will definitely look out for more books from the same author.

The story follows best friends, Jess and Hannah and the chapters alternate between Jess and Hannah's life. Jess is married to her childhood sweetheart and runs a dating app with a difference - the people that sign up for the app are looking for real love and are ready to settle down. Hannah works for Jess at the company after spending years travelling around the globe, seeking adventure.

When the dating app, Save The Date, comes under financial difficulty, risking Hannah's job and Jess's home, Hannah devises the extremely wacky concept of Save The Date finding the perfect match for her and to gain publicity for the app she proposes that she will marry the man she is matched with without even setting eyes on him. After a little persuasion, Jess agrees to the idea.

Will this be enough to rescue Save The Date? Is Hannah truly ready to settle down? Will her match truly be the love of her life, or has she made a massive mistake?

A modern day romance with some funny moments and relatability, I enjoyed this book and found it an easy one to finish. The subject of online dating apps is very relevent at the minute and I love the TV show 'married at first sight' so this was one I was looking forward to reading.

I gave this book three stars because although it was a nice read, and I liked the authors writing style, it didn't focus enough on the subject matter. The smaller characters were given more chapter space than the actual blind date bride and groom and I would have liked more description on the wedding day and the honeymoon - this all seemed to be rushed past.

All in all would recommend. Thanks for the ARC netgalley.

I'd give this 3.5 / 5 stars - bumping it up to 4 stars on NetGalley.

This was fresh and easy to dive into straight away - I needed something that was fun and easy to read and this certainly checked those boxes. I loved how modern and fresh the idea of this book felt - a dating app invented to find ‘the one’ and the lead up and repercussions of living with technology in a modern world.

I liked the relationship between Jess and Hannah, and the blog posts throughout the book felt spot on (including the details about brands reaching out to ‘sponsor’ the wedding). The whole concept is crazy, but it’s a bit of fun. I think it was a touch on the long side, due to some of the conversations between some of the characters being quite drawn out - there’s definitely a higher ratio of character conversation to what there is of action.

I liked that the chapter flipped between Jess and Hannah - it kept the story moving having a fresh perspective and opinions to situations. The story was well paced - you didn’t feel like you were begging for the wedding to happen too soon, or that it was held off for too long. It was nice to see the planning leading up to it, and the character development after, particularly between Hannah and Toby.

A nice fun easy read. Read this if you enjoyed Our Stop by Laura Jane Williams or any Beth O’Leary books. Thank you to Simon & Schuster UK and #NetGalley for giving me an ARC of this book.

While I enjoyed this book, I was probably a bigger fan of Claire Frost's other book - Living My Best Life. But I do like the modern elements and storylines that she brings to her books. Would have preferred more romance in the book but the story still had me interested!

4 Stars

Hannah is adventure loving, world travelling and loves to live life on the edge. Her best friend Jessica married her childhood sweetheart and runs a dating app.

Jessica's business hits financial difficulty and Hannah comes up with an idea that will hopefully save the business and help her to fine "The One". She proposes that Jessica use the dating app to help Hannah find a husband and the first time that she will meet him will be at the altar.

I was intrigued by the concept of this novel, having watched TV shows on a similar theme. The book was heartwarming and followed the life of Hannah as she embarked on what some would call this crazy mission and that of Jessica as she battled with the problems that come with long term marriage and children. I found myself warming to both Hannah and Jessica fairly quickly and wishing a happy ending for them both.

Overall this was a lovely romantic novel and I would be interested to read more from this author.

What happens when you meet your husband for the first time at the altar? Hannah’s about to find out. Hannah’s looking for everlasting love but is this the right way to go about finding it? Hannah and Jess are best friends and when Jess’ on-line dating business is floundering, they come up with the idea to find Hannah a husband but she won’t meet him until their wedding day. I mean, what could go wrong?

A good book which was an easy and entertaining read.
